The Maestro Media did an amazing job capturing all the special moments of our wedding day. We could not be happier with their work. Videographer, Mark Condra, was there working right alongside the photographer, capturing every imaginable detail. He worked so well with us and with our other vendors, helping the day go exactly as planned. The final products are videos we cherish and will use in the years to come to relive our wedding day. They gave us a copy of the full ceremony, footage of the toasts & first dances, a surprise shoutout video from friends & family (which we loved watching on our honeymoon) and such a creative, catchy highlight video that truly depicts the vibe of the whole day. Maestro Media was so quick in getting the final products to us. We won't hesitate to highly recommend them to friends and family looking for a talented, professional videographer.

I had been working with Harry to prepare for filming our wedding this Friday. We set up a meeting three days before the wedding date at which he said we no longer need a contract and demanded the entire payment for the project up front. This was the first time I had heard of this and I was thrown off by how it came out of the blue. Nowhere in his e-mails, website, contract, or in any of our conversation did it come up that he requires payment up front. I told him I was willing to give half and he told me that "That's not how I do buisness." He said that people usually pay him when he shows up to do the job. I agreed and said I would pay him half and how and half the day of the job. He said "that's not how I do business." He said he was sure I could find someone else to work with and got up and walked out of the restaurant. I was stunned! He has not returned any of my calls, e-mails, or texts. He has the right to ask for whatever terms he wants, but he needs to make that clear up front or put it in the contract, not drop it into a conversation three day before the wedding and then walk out when I question him. It was especially weird in that it came right after telling me he doesn't need a contract. It felt very off to me. I was not comfortable paying him in full under the circumstances and I felt like I was being railroaded into a last-minute bait and switch. He was unwilling to talk about it, negotiate, or show any sign of professionalism or care. He walked out as soon as he didn't get his way. I am angry that I am three days out from my wedding and I have no videographer! I did not see this coming!

We hired Garret for our wedding a few weeks ago and we could not have been more pleased! From scoping out the venue before the big day to coming to the rehearsal to hanging out in the 100 degree heat with us all day, Garret went above and beyond to make sure he captured as much of the day as he could, including the small details. I specifically requested that he mingle and interview guests throughout the day and mingle he did! I got so many compliments on how friendly and professional the videographer was and some even thought he was family! We got our highlight video back in about two weeks and I have watched it at least once a day since, (usually more!). It is BEAUTIFUL and he even made a small edit to it upon my request. I am still in awe at how perfectly he managed to encompass everything our day was about in a 7 minute video. Hiring a videographer was something that we did not budget for when planning the wedding but Garret is so reasonably priced and I am so glad that we were able to pull the funds together and make it happen because it was absolutely worth every penny! I am so grateful to have these memories preserved so perfectly and beautifully thanks to Garret:)

We hired Ben as our videographer, and he was great to work with before, and on the day of the wedding. He was laid back, patient, hard working, and assertive. He asked for the shots he wanted, and we were happy to oblige. We don't know what the end result looks like but are confident that he will make something beautiful that captures the story of our wedding. Highly, highly recommend!

BOOK THEM RIGHT NOW!!!!! :) :) IT WILL BE THE BEST DECISION YOU MADE FOR YOUR SPECIAL DAY!!!! We are absolutely in love with our wedding video!!! It truly left us speechless. It not only captured the events of our very special day, but told a visual story. The quality of their work will take your breath away, you can tell they genuinely put their heart and soul into each film. We were in awe upon receiving the video, everyone we showed teared up and said they had never seen such an amazing/unique wedding video!!!! Our cinematographer Chris was so professional, cooperative, and more than willing to take input. He is a true artist. He truly captured our wedding night and all of the most precious moments. He was completely non-invasive yet somehow captured everything. He was very kind and an amazing asset to the whole night. We can honestly say, going with him was one of the best decisions we made. We can't possibly begin to express how much we appreciate this. We will now forever be able to relive the memories of our wedding through this video. One other thing, our previous videographer canceled on us the week before the wedding. Chris was able to help us last minute and we are beyond thrilled and lucky that the previous guy canceled on us. The work Chris did is beyond unique and cannot stress how much we love his work. The video is our absolute favorite thing we received from all of the vendors!!! Nothing compared. Thank you sooo much for capturing our fairytale and for allowing us to relive the best day of our lives. I will cherish my video forever & can't wait to show my children someday!!! I attached a few photos with them in the background. We never even knew they were there!! Even after the wedding people told me how impressed they had been with them and the footage captured was amazing since they never even noticed them. Thank you again for our gorgeous wedding video!

Will is the real deal! He was recommended to us through a friend for our wedding and we are so glad we went with him! He was thorough, took the time to get to know us, open to our ideas, brought his own creativity to the table, extremely responsive to us whenever we needed to get a hold of him or had questions, and was all around fantastic to work with. When you're planning a wedding, one of the things that you appreciate the most is an organized vendor who takes your stress away, and that's exactly what we got! We couldn't be happier with the finished product. Will caught so many amazing moments that we didn't even think about wanting to capture but we are so glad he did! I cry tears of joy every time we watch our wedding video! Look no further for your videographer, Will is your guy!!

This specific project was quite intense. It involves all day shooting and running around from a larger event to an exterior interview room. Sam, from White Fox Cinema, did a tremendous job. He was punctual to start the day and came extremely prepared. We've done a series of these videos and I could tell he watched our previous work in order to understand the type of shots we were looking for. Finding a freelance videographer to fill in on an already established production is not easy, like hiring a new employee, but we feel very lucky to have come across White Fox Cinema. We recommend White Fox for any job and we'll be doing business with him in the future.

CLIX Imaging shot video for our wedding in May of 2014. They were very reasonably priced, and Eddie, our videographer, was very professional throughout the day, and captured the important moments while remaining unobtrusive. Would highly recommend.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

How much is videography for a wedding?

Wedding videography is one thing many couples regret not paying for. It may seem like just another expense during wedding planning, but it’s really special to have a moving memory of your big day. The national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. Pricing can vary depending on wedding length, special film features, the amount of editing required, and how many videographers are needed to cover the event. Many videographers offer packages that provide different levels of service. A very simple wedding documentary could be $600 or more, while a full-scale cinematic experience involving multiple videographers could be $2,500 or more. Here’s an example of average package pricing:

    • Package 1: $1,400
      • Footage during and after the ceremony, including highlights requested by the couple.
      • Two cameras with audio equipment.
      • DVD including a 3- or 4-minute edit to a song of the couple’s choice and a 45- to 50-minute raw edit covering the entire event.
      • Recordings of guests’ good wishes to the couple.
    • Package 2: $1,800
      • Includes everything from Package 1, plus an additional videographer (2 total) and aerial videography.

When do you pay your wedding videographer and wedding photographer?

Most wedding videographers and photographers require a set deposit when you hire them. Wedding season is a busy time and a deposit secures that vendor’s services for your wedding date. It also protects the vendor if the couple changes their mind at the last minute, and they can’t find a new booking and lose work for the day. The deposit may be anywhere from 20 percent to  50 percent of the agreed-upon total price. Always get a written confirmation that your deposit has been received.

The remainder of the wedding videography and photography bill may be due in the week before to your wedding or on the day of the wedding. Other vendors may require a second payment immediately before the wedding and a third and final payment after the wedding video or photos are delivered. Each vendor has their own policies, so before hiring be sure to read, understand and agree to payment protocols. There is no requirement for tipping wedding videographers or photographers, but if you do want to tip them, the end of the reception is the appropriate time.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
