Very personable and understanding about the needs to be a goodpiano playerMay 23, 2014Verified
Sabrina is teaching piano to my Kindergarten-aged twins. She is great with young kids and their parents. She's very flexible with her teaching, willing to adapt to the style that fits them best. The lessons have included a conga drum to learn keeping time, as well as opening up the piano to show how the inside works. The learning environment in her home is very relaxing, and helps to calm my very energetic boys. When my boys do get distracted, she can effectively rein them back in or use their curiosity as a teachable moment when appropriate.May 19, 2014

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?Lessons cost $20 for 30 minutes, $30 for 45 minutes, $40 for an hour lesson. Most lessons are weekly. I offer several varieties of discounts, most notably for those who serve in the military and their family and for special needs children and their families. I want everyone who wants lessons to have access to music education. If my base price is too high, please talk to me about it. We can find discounts, barters, trades, anything to make this work for you. I recently taught a lesson in exchange for children's clothing my student had outgrown and would fit my son- my first priority is making sure willing students can get the education they want.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I attend meetings for professional piano teachers and workshops through the teacher's guild to stay up to date with methodology and publications.
- How did you get started doing this type of work? For me, this line of work is simply who I am. I went through a few phases of trying to a more traditional professions but I keep coming back to teaching music because it's my hobby, my skill and a joy.
