Laura M. says, "We hired Isaac after getting other Contractor bids that were higher. He is a very good contractor. He sourced 2 different groups of individuals to complete our work. The flooring installers and painters were skilled, professional, and worked long, hard hours to get the work completed. Initially Isaac was hired to do 2 projects. The first was removing old carpet in 4 rooms and replacing with vinyl plank flooring. The second was to update an old bathroom with a new vanity, toilet, and adding shelves to the closet. The project took a tangent when decayed wood was found in the subfloor. Isaac immediately and quickly found a resolution by removing and replacing subfloor. The additional project was added and completed, adding only 2 days to the timeframe. I recommend Isaac and would like to hire him in the future to do another project. So why did I give only 4 stars? I am new to hiring contractors outside my family. Unfortunately my relatives who are carpenters have all retired and I had to venture out of my comfort zone. My brothers are top notch and I am biased. I am a perfectionist and will admit that it is hard for another person to know what I want 100%. I also had to get used to a “contractor” versus a “carpenter.” I was happy with the contracted out work, though. I did appreciate when Isaac did do certain jobs by himself because there were things I felt needed special attention. I am thankful that I hired Isaac and overall, the job as a total was a success!"See more

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is the best waterproof flooring for a basement?

There are several great options for waterproof basement flooring. For example, epoxy floors are waterproof but are thicker and sturdier than paint. Make sure the concrete substrate has been prepared for application.

Tile is a designer’s dream, giving you a moisture-resistant surface that’s infinitely customizable. Rubber sheets or tiles are also good waterproof options, particularly for playrooms, workout areas or laundry rooms.

Vinyl tiles and planks imitate wood or other materials very convincingly, provide moisture resistance and last a long time. And sheet vinyl is affordable and a great waterproofing solution for those in need of quick fixes.
