Jeff and Albert were exceptional! Not only did they parse through the storage unit where my family had the furniture but they also re-packed it back in better than how we found it. They were meticulous with no damage. In addition, they were available within 1 hour of scheduling them as the previous mover never made it and bailed on me. These guys are top notch!

Had to move recently and the guys that came to help were just like they’re name. Prompt and handy! Helped move furniture I no longer needed and disposed of it. And they came to my new apartment and painted my bedroom and dining area. Very satisfied with their work not to mention the reasonable price. 10/10 would hire again when moving in the future.

Quoted me $120 for the first three hours and $40 for additional hour. Then told me final price was $250 for a 3 hour 15 minute job. He stated flight of stairs, furniture size, overhead and insurance as to why the price is double his quote. He never mentioned any of the extra cost when I told him that I had stairs. The 2 movers were very polite and hard workers, but was a lot smaller than what I was expecting. I had to help them with several of the larger furniture prices or they the job could've gone over four hours. In the end, I paid them what I was quoted: $160 for four hours of work.

We hired Above the Best Movers in November and they did an amazing job. They were very careful with all our furniture, way more so than the military movers used to move us here from Texas. They were considerate and polite. Highly recommend!

I got a Lenz Crafted sofa table for Christmas and absolutely love it! The table is a beautiful addition to the living room! It sits behind our sectional and has a USB port and outlet built into the top of the table, which comes in handy when you are at the end of the day and you need to charge your phone or use your laptop. I would recommend Josh to build any piece of furniture you need!

4 Brothers moved my things from Indy to a Downtown Chicago apartment on the 14th floor, last minute and all for an amazing price. The best part of this experience was the fact that the owner of the company is truly involved from start to finish. He took the time to assess my needs and worked with me to establish the best options and pricing. The two movers were prompt and worked diligently to load the truck in less than 2 hours. They made sure to wrap everything securely and because of that, everything arrived in the exact condition that it left in. The boys were extremely respectful of me and my things and professional at all times even though they were dripping sweat from maneuvering large furniture through small spaces and dealing with the smallest service elevator known to man. They didn't hesitate to help me set up my furniture and made sure that everything was in the appropriate rooms. This was my first experience using a moving company and I am thrilled with the results. I cannot place a value on the stress that they eased with great service and a fantastic price. I will definitely utilize their services when I move again, which hopefully won't be for awhile, so in the meantime I recommend them to all of you!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much should you tip furniture movers?

Moving furniture is hard work and potentially dangerous unless you’re properly equipped. For anyone not ready to handle their heavy oak armoire alone, professional furniture movers can safely and efficiently move your items to another room in your house or across town as needed. The national average cost to hire heavy furniture movers is $150-$200 per hour. This rate could include multiple furniture movers working as a team to move items such as beds, armoires, billiards tables, pianos, shelves, tables, entertainment centers and more. Hourly rates can vary by region. If your furniture movers have arrived on time, done a great job, kept your home and belongings protected from scratches and dings, and completed the move as planned, a tip will be greatly appreciated. Moving companies suggest approximately 10 percent of the total bill as gratuity for those doing local moving jobs, which is also a good guideline for tipping heavy furniture movers. If the total bill for heavy moving was $100 and two workers were onsite, consider giving them $10 total, or $5 each for a job well done.
