FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
The first and most important thing every customer needs to know is that I do not charge by the hour. Thumbtack requires a default hourly rate and it has always been a flawed thorn in every techs side. Here's my mindset. I am operating on the journeyman level with both electrical, plumbing, tv mounting, and assembling pretty much anything. If I am getting finished with a job in 30-40% less time than a new guy and my work is much more professional because I've done it a thousand times, if I charge by the hour I make less than a new guy. I charge by the job. I am fair, I'm not out to get rich off of anyone, but I do also have a family to provide for.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Once we've opened dialogue, I generally prefer a quick phone conversation but it isn't required. We set up a day and time, I'll give you a good idea of what it will cost, and I'll be there on time!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Too much to list. I am HVAC certified, have several certifications and qualifications, and am highly skilled in both electrical and plumbing. I say this with humility, but I am legitimately a jack of all trades in the handyman market.
