Brian and Simona did my wedding and they were wonderful. Simona set up our timeline and then made sure that everything ran according to that timeline. That took so much stress off of me. She was great to work with. Brian was an awesome .dj. He played everything we asked for and everyone's requests. We weren't going to do the photo booth but Simona gave us such a great deal, we couldn't turn it down. I am so happy we did it. Everyone had a great time and I love the photo album The actual booth was very cool. It inflates. and has lights inside. It is well worth the money. And Kathy was so much fun to work with. These guys are great. We would highly recommend them. Thanks guys for a perfect day

I'm not sure I can say enough great things about Fantasy Face Painting Plus. Not only was Stephanie amazing at communicating with me when booking my party she helped me by suggesting glitter tattoos instead of face painting for toddlers. What a great idea and suggestion! She knows her craft and knew that face painting may take a little too long for a wiggling 3 to 4 year old, but glitter tattoos would be a great alternative. It so was! They were a wonderful hit! I ended up booking two artists, a balloon twister and glitter tattoo artist. Not only did she show up early and set up was so easy they were so great with my party guests. Super patient with the more apprehensive kids that weren't too sure about getting a tattoo and overall wonderful demeanor and attitude. I truly appreciated one of the artists tracking me down (the hostess) about 20 minutes before they were due to leave to let me make an announcement for 'last call.' As the hostess to a party of 30+ guests I had lost track of time and I really loved that they didn't just pack up and leave once their time was up. Plus I wanted to score a tattoo before they left! Overall just a wonderful experience I will be sure to be booking Fantasy Face Painting Plus again. Great value and great experience.

We were so pleased we went with Viral Photo Booth! I couldn't have been more impressed with their timeliness, kindness, and professionalism whether communicated through e-mail or the day of the Wedding! We had a blast taking pictures and our guests did too! We used the photo booth as our wedding favor - something they can keep for years to come! Plus we received a funny scrapbook filled with comments and photos from guests at our wedding - it's great to re-live our special day by looking at it!

We hired Daniel for our daughter's 9th birthday party. The kids and adults both thought he was amazing. Some of the kids still talk about him and one of his props. I have seen him perform on multiple occasions and his shows are always top notch. I highly recommend hiring him for your next event. This magician is NOT to be missed!

Sarah's Swing Set is the perfect wedding reception band. Everyone loved their song selections, and Sarah has a wonderful style at the mic. They were not too loud that people could not talk with each other if they wanted to. Book them!

When my husband and I were looking for a photographer for our wedding, it was definitely the longest process in the wedding planning only after finding our venue. We got married in March which does not really allow for the pretty picture ready backgrounds that most photographers are able to capitalize on. Therefore, our number one concern was finding someone who had a variety of indoor shots in their portfolio. We were both impressed with Craig’s photos from previous weddings and considering it was a romantically lit (dim) ballroom. We quickly knew that he was the one to go with. We worked with Craig discussing which photos we wanted for sure and then gave him free reign with the rest. We received our photos about 1 month later and are in love with them. Craig and his assistant Casey were great to work with. I had even asked him to Photoshop a couple of pictures for me and he did it and had it to me the next day. If you’re looking for a professional wedding photographer and wanting to stay within your budget, Craig is your guy!

Amy and Brian are, in a word, perfection. They are warm, creative, collaborative, passionate, professional and simply incredible at their job. My husband and I are still in awe at their ability to capture our perfect day. Choosing them as photographers was definitely one of the best choices we made for our wedding. (I have to give my husband the credit for finding them... Since I did about everything else for the wedding. Hahahaha) We received our photos very quickly compared to most of our married friends, we loved every second spent with them during our engagement shoot and wedding day, we were amazed by their originality, and just extremely happy with everything they did for us. Not only are they great at their job, but they are great humans. Do yourself a favor and hire them NOW!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    What is a mariachi band?

Mariachi bands are rooted in Mexican culture. Traditional mariachi bands consisted of two or more members playing stringed instruments, wearing regional costumes adapted from the charro (Mexican horseman or cowboy). Modern mariachi bands, which are likely what you’re looking for when searching for a mariachi band for hire, feature at least four members who play stringed instruments (violin, vihuela, bass guitar called guitarron) and one or more trumpets. The costumes have remained the same, but now trumpets are synonymous with mariachi music. Mariachi bands for hire often play a wide range of music, including styles originating from Mexico and adopted from elsewhere. These include jarabes, waltzes, serenades, corridos (Mexican ballads), ranchera, cumbia, and more. Mariachi bands for hire bring a festive and soulful element to a party, birthday, wedding, corporate affair, fundraiser or community event. UNESCO has inscribed mariachi music on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

What is a photo booth rental?

A party photo booth is a fun, interactive experience where guests can take a series of photos (usually three or four) that are immediately printed out on a strip as a keepsake. When you rent a party photo booth, the company sets up the booth or photo station at your event; a photographer staffs the booth and coaches guests on how to use it throughout the event. Often the photo booth rental company provides props like silly hats, wigs and glasses. There are different types of party photo booth rentals. An open-air booth has a curtain or backdrop that allows more freedom of movement and enables more people to use it at one time. The traditional enclosed photo booths that you may have seen at the mall or the fair tend to cost more to rent, as they are harder to transport and also cost more for the pros to purchase. The national average cost for party photo booth rentals is $400-$500.

How many mariachis can a band have?

A mariachi band for hire can have as many players as you like. Modern mariachi bands typically have a minimum of four players with the trumpet playing a vital musical role along with stringed instruments such as the violin, guitarrón (a Mexican bass guitar with a deep body), vihuela (a Spanish stringed guitar) and guitar. Strong vocals are also an important component of mariachi bands for hire, since one or more of the players will be singing during the performance. For a truly spectacular show, you can hire a mariachi band with 15 or more players. The medley of stringed instruments, multiple trumpets, soaring vocals, and even an accordion or harp is powerful and beautiful. Mariachis typically wear the traditional costume of charros — Mexican horsemen. The look is a very regal, monotone suit, often in black or white, with silver adornments and embroidery. Mariachi bands often wear sombreros as well. Traditional mariachi bands were only made up of two or more players, according to a UNESCO report celebrating the cultural heritage of the musical style. The style of music originated in the state of Jalisco. Now the style of music is symbolic of Mexico but is celebrated all over the world, and adds a fabulous vibrancy to any group’s events, parties and weddings.

How much does a mariachi band cost?

A mariachi band will bring your party or event alive with their fabulous costumes, beautiful playing and strong vocals. The cost of a mariachi band for hire will depend on how many players are in the group. Each musician in a performance group needs to be paid, so pricing is usually based on the number of mariachis (musicians), the location of the event (and travel time required), and the length of the performance. Day of the week also affects cost, as does day — Christmas, New Year’s Eve and other major holidays will cost more than regular days. The national average cost for live bands of all types ranges between $740 and $1,200. Depending on where you live and regional rates for performers, you might expect to pay between $65 and $120 per hour, per player. Mariachi groups may have 12-15 players available for performance at one time, depending on your budget. Here are some examples of how the number of players affects average cost:

    • Four mariachis: $300 per hour for weeknights, $400 per hour for weekends.
    • Five mariachis: $350 per hour for weeknights, $400-$450 per hour for weekends. Weekends may have a minimum number of hours.
    • Six mariachis: $400 per hour for weeknights, $450-$500 per hour for weekends.

How much is it to rent a photo booth for a party?

Renting a party photo booth for your next event will get your guests engaged and provide a take-home favor for attendees. The cost to rent a party photo booth will vary depending on the type of booth, the day and time of year, the length of the rental, and any add-ons you select. The national average cost for party photo booth rentals is $400-$500. Here are some examples of average party photo booth rental costs:

    • Weekday packages: $300-$550, depending on features included and length of rental. A three-hour weekday package for $500 could include guest book, personalized photo strips and DVD of all the photos.
    • Weekend packages: $450-$700, depending on features included and length of rental.
    • Additional hours: $100-$150 per extra hour.
    • Add-on features:
      • Photo guest album services: $75.
      • Personalized photo strips: $30-$50.
      • Custom photo backdrops or vinyl skin branding of the booth: $150-$300.
      • Live social media connectivity (ability to share photos to social media accounts): $100-$250.
