I trained with Ken at Prime Fitness for 2+ months and I benefited greatly from his patient, attentive, insightful training style. I had specific issues with form that I wanted to address as well as wanting to build strength for my high intensity boot camp workouts. This review is based upon my initial consultation with Joseph. Overall, I was very impressed with my first visit; at how professional and well organized he was. After we completed my initial paperwork, he put me through a quick workout to guauge my baseline workout level. Soup is an incredible trainer. I am NOT a morning person, but he made me excited to get out of bed at 5:30 AM and go train with him. Soup is easily the most motivating person I've ever worked with. He catered my workouts to my specific needs and goals, and pushed me to go harder everyday. He is also very creative and keeps the workouts different every time so it doesn't get boring. For example, I told him one day that I randomly had boxing wraps in my car, and then the next time we trained we boxed! I really appreciate that he likes to switch it up in the gym and keep it fun -- no two workouts will be the same. Even on days that we weren't training together, he would still check in with me and make sure that I was cardio and eating properly. He keeps it real and holds you accountable by checking in every single day. Working with Soup was truly a pleasure and I cannot wait to start working with him again. I highly recommend him to anyone at any fitness level -- Soup will change your life!
Silvia tailors workouts for all ages, fitness levels, and goals. She is a great motivator and is always available to re-explain an exercise or answer questions about the workout. In just a few months, I've improved my strength and balance and tone, and I've gotten comfortable with a routine of working out at least three days a week. I've been training with Angie for over a year now and I love her enthusiasm she has for her clients! The excitement and drive she has to meet my goals is just the nudge I need to challenge myself and go the extra mile. Angie pushes hard but appropriately so which helped me to achieve more than I could have imagined…like completing two Spartan races within a 1 month span of time! She is knowledgeable with all aspects of fitness and health and does her research to cater her training to meet my needs and goals. Some of my goals were to tone, strengthen my core and incorporate full body exercises to my fitness regimen and I'm very pleased with my results. She keeps me on my toes and changes up the exercises each session. Sessions never get boring and I learn new ways to exercise on my own between sessions. I can’t wait for the boot camp classes to start! Also, now that the weather is warming up the flexibility to take the training outside is a nice added change of scenery than the gym. It is so hard to keep me motivated to go to the gym on a weekly basis but having Danny on my calendar helps me to stay focus during the week as I get ready to attend our small group training sessions. Danny is epitome of professionalism. He is is very knowledge about fitness, nutrition and proper technique and is very punctual. I can still remember my first group training session with Danny, and it was around Thanksgiving and boy, my body was so sore for about 3 days after out session that I refused to indulge in the festivities because it hurt to breath or get up to make a plate but I didnt want to gain 1 ounce of fat from eating poorly. Danny is awesome, I wish I could attend more than 1 or 2 classes per week him. His classes are like a boot camp and the results are visible quickly even from attending as little as once a week for about 7 weeks. Just follow his instructions and watch your caloric intake. I recommend Daniel highly for your personal training needs. Good luck on your journey.
Training with David has been a overwhelmiingly positive experience. He has helped me strength train and to get in shape for my wedding. I have to say I'm now in the best shape of my life. I've been able to put on almost 10 lbs of muscle mass since I started about 3 months ago. I'm someone who had never worked out before , but David has been able to motivate and more importantly educate me on safe and effective techniques. He always brings an educational components to the workout, while keeping things fun and upbeat. The workouts are tough but I feel great afterword! You can tell he has formal education and multiple certificates in the subject. Whether you are trying to work out for the first time, or an experienced gym rat I feel like David would bring his A game and not disappoint. I know I plan on continuing to train with him long after my wedding.
I recently joined Fit Camp DC as a runner who wanted to add strength training to my routine. I saw the group working out in Logan Circle and decided to give it a try. Emmanuel is a great trainer who is clearly passionate about what he does. The classes are very challenging and in the HIIT style, so it's 30 minutes of intensity; it's a great butt-kicker but only to your own limits. The short workouts, location, and class times are extremely convenient which makes it easy to fit into a busy schedule. People of all fitness levels are in the class which means it's not intimidating and you are pushed to your own level of intensity. During the class Emmanuel is really motivating; there is a lot of positive reinforcement and he will make sure you are performing the moves correctly with proper form. Another thing that I like about Fit Camp which I've disliked about other groups I've tried, and which has kept me from signing up for other classes, is that we don't partner up during the workouts. I have an aversion to touching sweaty people I don't know, and I appreciate that we don't do that! Most of the reviews here are about results; indeed I am feeling great and can tell my muscles are already getting the attention they needed (I'll post again in a few weeks with more concrete results), but I think exercise and a fit lifestyle is really about the journey as well, and so far this has been a positive one.
My two little ones and I are taking a Mommy and Me Boot camp class with Valerie at the Community Center in Laurel. From day one, she welcomed us all (even a wailing baby!) and showed me ways to incorporate both my two year old and five month old into my workout so that it was actually doable and fun. Each workout has been different and tailored to the needs of the group. (She checks in with us frequently and makes modifications if a task is too easy, too hard, or a child in the group needs mommy!). I appreciate Valerie's friendly encouragement- I feel supported and actually enjoy our sessions. (How often can you say that about a workout?!) I only wish more people knew about her classes!
Ali helped me design a workout routine that I can use just about anywhere, on the road for work travel or even in the park where we practiced it. She talked to me ahead of it about the things I wanted to work on: core strength and leg strength so it was a workout that did exactly what I wanted. I don't like it when I go to gyms and feel pushed around by trainers so I was lucky to find Ali. She has a really calm and positive nature that is helpful and motivational to do your best. I knew we worked hard but I really realized it the next day. Now we are working on getting me running!

I have really enjoyed Ellen's knowledgable and personalized approach to fitness training. I have shoulder and hip injuries and she and her team have accounted for that in both the individual/couples and boot camp formats. I've also appreciated her sharing up-to-date information from excersize and nutrition journals that is relevant for my wife and me. And, I feel a whole lot better to boot! (Pun intended.)

We provide targeted training for all muscle groups with a focus on getting the body back into prepregnancy shape. Workout is good for pre and postnatal students with clearance from their physician. Babies in strollers attend class and are an integral part of the hour-long cardio and strength training workout.
Body by Dion - both the group boot camp classes, as well as one-on-one training sessions- are outstanding! Dion is the most positive, energetic, motivating fitness professional I've ever worked out with or taken a class from. He makes working out fun! He pushes you to work hard, but the time flies. Barbara English is a very high energy, spirited lady who makes our workouts fun and challenging. She is very knowledgable in her field and keeps us informed in all of the latest developments in the health and fitness. Her workouts are one hour long and she really makes the most of that hour. She explains all excerises in detail and demonstrates them carefully so all levels can participate. Do not miss an opportunity to take her class, she is really a great health coach and she has changed my life in such a positive way, I never would have imagined!
I encourage you to work with Doug as a personal trainer. Doug is my 16 year old daughter's personal sport trainer. He has been working with her for two months. My daughter has a goal of losing weight, gaining speed and improving her flexibility to be a better athlete. Doug took the time to find exercises/routines that hit all of her goals. He understood how to motivate her and push her. He varied the locations of the work outs from the gym to the local park or boot camp workouts in his studio. We look forward to working with him.
