Walt and his guys installed a dishwasher and garbage disposal in our tiny kitchen where there had never been ones before. They did everything--cut out a space in the existing cabinet for the dishwasher, wired everything back to the electrical panel, did the plumbing, etc, and fixed a recently-discovered leak in our sink drain while they were at it! They were totally professional, did great work, and were super flexible as we were trying to get the work done as close to our move-in date as possible!

Andrey and his team did such a great job on our kitchen cabinets!! We really appreciated the absolute attention to detail - down to the rubber door stops on each and every cabinet door (which we hadn't expected). We are so happy with the work done. It looks so amazing!

I had Shane and Justin build a custom cabinet/entertainment center around my fireplace with the TV mounted already on top of the fireplace. Let me say this that Shane and Justin did an absolutely awesome job custom building these cabinets and installing them. The cabinets look great and I had asked them to trim the edges of the fireplace mantle to give it that flushed look. The end result looks great! the finished product is awesome. I had requested that they built 42 inch cabinets in the base with glass doors for my entertainment equipment to be place within the cabinets. They were able to custom fit everything when I had asked. I also had requested that they built crown molding around cabinets at the top and base board for the bottom. The crown molding in my house is double crown molding and Shane was able to custom make the second crown molding. I am completely satisfied with Shane and Justin's work and I would highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for carpentry work. The price was great the work was perfect and they were able to get all the tiny details complete and accurate. They are very professional in the work they do and keep the work area clean. In addition, they cleaned everything after themselves and left the work area spotless. Thank you Shane and Justin for the great work!

I can not say enough wonderful things about Brian and his wife Joann. They did an amazing job with our cabinets and Brian’s work ethic is top notch. They gave me a date and the work was completed on time and they made sure the cabinets met our expectations even when one of them presented a bit of a challenge. We were so pleased with their work we asked them if they could please finish our kitchen by painting the walls and ceiling.

Months ago, I looked for someone to do a small painting project on Thumbtack. And I ended up with a brand new home. Christian, Jessica, Hector and the rest of the team at 5th Gen Group honestly do miracles. We own a 100+ year old row home in Washington DC and we've had problems ever since we moved in five years ago. After dealing with four different contractors that left me unsatisfied, I tried Thumbtack (at that time, new in the DC area). Christian came out to do an estimate and I was impressed by him from the get go - as a woman, I hate when contractors act like I'm stupid or uninformed. Christian never did that, and he answered all my questions respectfully and thoroughly and would defer to my wishes. We initially contracted for a gut remodel of our ancient kitchen and leaking bathroom. Christian's professional opinion was heavily appreciated as well as his vision - he instantly "got" the feel of a space and spent a lot of time listening to not only what we wanted, but how we would use the space and what we planned for the house in the future. Of course, the best laid plans always go awry - we knew our house had a few "handyman specials" but once Christian opened up the floor in the kitchen, we realized we were really in for it. Down there was a hidden mess of rotting wires, missing piping, garbage from the last renovations, and rotted-out beams. Overnight, our budget doubled. I personally wanted to die. But Christian calmly lead us through the process, helped us try to salvage our murdered budget, and focused on explaining the trade-off in home values. We ended up with an additional half bath downstairs (because really, what was another 5K at that point?), brand new kitchen (with a small bar!) a brand new stairwell and relocated laundry room, and a brand new bathroom with a shower (after 5 years of an ancient leaking cast iron tub). Christian isn't completely perfect - he's totally a perfectionist, and if you are one too, be prepared for some long conversations. There is an epic texting exchange over the bathroom tile that I may print out just to see how long it really was. But that's about the only thing. Also, for the other ladies on here- I always hate opening my home to someone because I have had bad experiences with contractors who were, at best, creepy. Christian and Hector were completely professional, and they really went the extra mile to make sure I always knew who would be in the house, when they would arrive, and how to reach both of them. Christian also has a lot of loyalty and integrity toward his clients - he is always fair, both in pricing and in the treatment of your home. He broke a small appliance - the only reason I knew was because he called me when he was purchasing an (upgraded) replacement on his own dime. All renovations are hard projects, long projects, and frequently frustrating. There was definitely a day when I wanted to kill Christian for sending me out to two different quarries in far out Virginia right around rush around. But when I stepped into my home for the first time, I couldn't stop smiling. And when we finally scrape together the budget for a third floor extension, I know exactly who I am calling.

Steve was super-efficient with most of the tasks he came to do, e.g. fixing a desk lamp, reinstalling a handle on a bathroom cabinet, affix hooks for curtain tiebacks, etc. He charges a fixed amount per hour, so his ability to work rapidly and do the job well was very welcome. On the last task--fixing a (relatively new) salt-grinder the handle of which had refused to grind/turn--things proved harder than both he and I thought. It took a long time and yet it remained unfixed after all was said and done. It may have been better to just let it go much earlier (thus saving me some money) but I guess the hope was that he would be able to fix it at the end of the day. But generally I am satisfied with how nearly all of the the handyman tasks went. One PS note: I had no problems with the issue many mentioned, re him not showing up etc. However, I did raise this point I saw in other reviews with him upfront, and he explained that he doesn't set appointments to show up without speaking to the client. Easy enough, I spoke with him and all went well on this front.

I turned to Nas Construction as a full service provider company. As a mother of 2 whom works a full time job, I find it very helpful to have someone take care of the process. Nas Construction took responsibility of everything, leading to the renovation of my kitchen and 2 bathrooms. They contacted the management company and ordered the materials. This allowed me to focus on other aspects of my life and not to worry about the construction. During the countertop installation, we had a bit of a glitch. The countertop cracked. I was panicking since I needed to cook and used my kitchen. Jhonathan totally took on the responsibility and apologized. I had a beautiful countertop installed in my kitchen in less than a week with the help of there materials dept. I was very pleased with the final results and the way I was treated. I recommend Nas Construction to those of us who need to renovate their kitchen or bath and cant afford to dedicate so much time to the process that leads to the construction and completion.

I hired Antonio (Tony) Sanchez from Renaissance Restoration to complete a kitchen renovation this past fall (sorry I did not get around to completing this review sooner!). I did all the demolition, but the job included lights and electrical, plumbing repair, cabinet and counter top install, appliance install, and painting. Tony gave a very reasonable estimate and personally worked on my project with his assistant from start to finish as opposed to having one of his employees complete the job. As he began the job, he soon realized that virtually nothing from the original construction was square (townhouse was built in 1987). However, that did not phase him as he had the skills to adjust making those imperfections unnoticeable in the end. In addition, Tony has skills in most of the trades which meant that he did not have to sub different parts of the job out; he did all the electrical, plumbing and carpentry himself. The best part of my experience working with Tony was that he discussed and explained different options or ways of completing a task to ensure there were no surprises, and I was impressed with his willingness to even teach me a little along the way. He was flexible in allowing me to have a friend install the tile floor and was understanding of my need to stick to a rather tight budget. There are only two comments I could make for overall improvement: cleanliness and timeliness. On a couple of occasions, I had to discard empty food containers and drinks that had been left behind. I attributed this to oversight and could be easily improved by making an effort to clean up the work site after each day of work. Considering it was not a space I was using though, it was not that big of a deal. As for timeliness, the project took longer than expected to complete. However, I know that my involvement did have some impact on the schedule and the fact he was doing the work himself while still managing other jobs is a factor. I would not hesitate to bring Tony in for another project in the future. I am completely satisfied with his work and would recommend him to anyone.

I fully recomend his company to future prospects, family and friends. Thanks again for such beautiful job done at my place.

I hired Emington to build a cabinet/shelf into an already existing wall unit designed for a large, old fashioned, rear projection TV. Emington was extraordinarily professional, communicative, honest, clean and quick. He did beautiful work and was priced very competitively. I wish I could give 4.5 of 5, because 4 is too low, but 5 isn't true either. Emington had a few issues with his shop which delayed our project; Emington would come to install something and realize he had been supplied with something cut incorrectly or was given the incorrect hardware. To his credit, Emington was always very honest about the issue, and made things right at the end, always apologizing profoundly. We are very happy with the end result and I do plan on hiring him again, I trust him, and he matched our built in very very well. Emington took the extra mile to make sure we were satisfied.

I hired Alex Kirpichenko of AAK Contractor to put in a backsplash over my kitchen sink. It was a small but exacting job because the backsplash was a photograph of an Italian landscape projected onto ceramic tile. From the very beginning I was most impressed with Alex's knowledge, authority, and efficiency. I had at first planned just to install the backsplash itself, but after discussing it with Alex decided it would look best surrounded by more tile, extending the full length of the walls under the cabinets. I had thought beige tile would be best, but Alex guided me to a pale blue gray stone, which brought out the beauty of the photograph in a way that beige wouldn't have. He also suggested that the backsplash be surrounded with strips of polished stone of the same color, giving the effect of a window. I really do feel as if I were gazing through a window on a peaceful Tuscan scene! The finished product has surpassed my expectations, and has warmed up my white and stainless-steel kitchen. And because of the window effect, the kitchen seems larger. The job took just a few days from start to finish and the price was reasonable, considering the high quality of the work. I would certainly use AAK Contractor again and would have no hesitation in recommending the company to others.

We recently hired The Contractors Inc to upgrade our very dated-looking 80's kitchen and we couldn't be happier with the results! The whole project went great. The installers were very professional, arrived promptly, and cleaned up before leaving so we were able to continue using our kitchen while the work was in progress. They replaced all the drawer and cabinet door fronts, enclosed and built a deep drawer under the microwave oven, enclosed the built-in oven, built 3 shelving units, and re-configured cabinets to make two large (double-sized) cabinets with slide-outs on the island. They did beautiful work! Additionally, we appreciate the level of interaction with the owner, Omar Hamdan. He was with us every step of the way, and was very responsive to our [changing] needs. He is competent, flexible, and the kind of guy who isn't satisfied unless his customers are 100% happy. Top notch service and beautiful workmanship at an affordable price! We highly recommend this company to anyone who is considering an upgrade to their kitchen.

I absolutely loved the work that Levy did. We hired him for quite a few projects (crown molding, baseboards, shoe molding, doors, cabinets, deck) and I have no complaint whatsoever. He was on time and would give me a heads up for the time he would be showing up. His work is truly professional and fulfilled everything as promised. Loved that he gave me new ideas that would work best for my home. I could tell he was detailed in his work. We had someone else come before and didn’t do a good job and Levy immediately noticed the errors made and fixed them making it look like new. I will definitely be hiring him again for more home projects.

I remodel houses for a living and out of all the contractors that I've worked with in the past EMG Granite was the best! He helped me choose my color and gave a really good deal. One of the things that I must say: he did a excellent job on the seams, very professional and honest! Kal: I’m terribly sorry that you were not satisfied with the work he did, but I have to say that Edney was very punctual, and honest with me and my friends that I have recommended him to. We are all very happy and satisfied with our “new “ kitchens!

Ted led the team that remodeled my kitchen to include installing cabinets, painting, drywall repair, replacement of an outside door, and installing a tile floor. Also, they added a deck to my house. The work done really was excellent and I'm very satisfied with both projects. Ted always let me know what time the team would arrive at my house and they were prompt and courteous. He was upfront regarding costs and kept in constant communication with me. He's basically a jack-of-all trades and I highly recommend Ted.
