We had the best experience ever! They confirmed with me the day before and told me that the service was going to take st least 3-4 hrs. They arrived on time and asked to be showed each register throughout the house. The furnace the sir exchange the vents everything. The dryer was next. This took work showing everything. They showed us what everything looked before and after cleaning. Give us tips on how to keep filters and the house cleaner. They showed us how to maintain the dryer to keep it running at higher efficiency. I will use them again. This company was excellent. Had great customer service. Personable and I gave a referral to my sister.

I am very pleased with the results. I remodeled my kitchen. Several things were done - old back splash was removed and new back splash installed, over the stove microwave installed, granite countertop supports installed, painted cabinets and walls, added trim and molding to a patio door and window, etc.

Hugo and his helper wall mounted our new 55 inch tv. They installed a sound bar as well as an infrared sensor, which allows for hiding the cable box. They drilled holes into a cabinet we had purchased to hide the wires and equipment. A stereo receiver was also hooked up with 2 speakers installed in our kitchen ceiling and a volume control knob installed. All these improvements required cutting into drywall and patching, which were neatly done. Hugo also did the research for me about what equipment I needed to purchase, which was all online (no visits to Best Buy or other store of that ilk). The best thing, I have to say, is that Hugo came on short notice, in fact it was the day after Thanksgiving. The two men spent about 6-7 hours at my house and literally transformed it from 20th century technology to the 21st, all for $500. I think we got a great deal, and I hope to use Hugo for future projects. Finally, Hugo is very nice, pleasant, as well as extremely hard working and responsible. Thank you, Hugo!

I'm so glad we went with John for our project! We needed our powder room off the living room repainted in less than a week because we had guests coming that following weekend. John was super flexible and patient with us throughout the process of us also simultaneously getting new ceramic tiles installed. We ended up paying him extra for his patients and willingness to do more. He did our ceiling, walls, trim, and door. He also installed a new light fixture, door knob and hinges, and patched up some spots the tile guys messed up. He even took some of our old renovation crap to the dump! Overall a great guy. We will definitely use him again in the future when we need more painting done. Fast, reasonably priced, and does a nice job.

Dave did a great job on some small painting projects (window frames, door, etc.), on our house. He was friendly and not pushy, and understood the particular requirements of our HOA. Reasonable price. I'll definitely use him again for all jobs around our house and can recommend him for your house projects.

They did a good move-out job and I would hire them again. They did not earn 5 stars because they were not willing to wipe down a few high traffic areas on a few door frames that I pointed out. Something I expect that a service would do for a move-out. And please don't get me wrong, that was not a deal breaker. I tipped them 20% regardless and as I mentioned, I would hire them again.

I give Jose Gonzalez and his team top marks. The paint job they did on the interior of my home (three stories, 4 bedrooms and 3.5 baths) and exterior front entrance was outstanding and exceeded my expectations. Replacement of the front storm door and locks on two exterior doors was also excellent, as was staining of my deck, repair to a piece of siding, complete interior house cleaning, and shampooing of all carpets. Their attention to detail was phenomenal. Not only was the paint job fantastic, but they took great care in ensuring there was no errant paint on floors/carpet, etc. Jose took great pains to ensure all work was perfect. When he was not satisfied about an aspect of the job, he had it redone until it met his demanding standards and I was completely satisfied. In order to compete the job within the allotted time, Jose and his crew worked long hours. Thanks to Jose and his team, my house never looked so good and I am confident that it will be sold quickly at a premium price. Jose and Brandon have my highest recommendation for any home repair/painting project; if Jose says they can do it, be assured that it will be done to the highest standards and completed on time.

Wow what a great experience! Charlie and his team are fabulous. They had a tough move . Moving antique furniture in a city row house with 3 floors of extremely narrow stairs. Great job. Also had to move a sofa and love seat out the 2nd floor door and over the porch. How that sofa and love seat ever got up there, I have no clue but Charlie and his team was able to get the job done Thank you Charlie and team. You will definitely be hearing from me soon. Charlie definitely gave me a low quote for the job which I felt was not a realistic price for what he had to do. He did not raise his quote but I think I may have made it up to the team with a price I felt was more appropriate. You will be very happy and pleased with Charlie and his team. They do a lot more than just moves. Call them first and check out all they do! 10 stars all around.

Karim took care of two door panels for me. He showed up on time, after giving me a number and coming on a Saturday, which was the only time I could do it. He ended up coming in about 15% cheaper than the other quotes I got and the work was quick and phenomenal. I am always paranoid about contractors but Secure Glass exceeded my expectations. Thanks Karim!

Henry replaced a panel on my front door, which had been kicked out. A different contractor told me the entire door would have to be replaced, but Henry was able to replace the panel. The door looks just as it did before. Excellent work.

We were very pleased with the service we received from Dani. He was very professional and prompt. A key broke off in the lock and he fixed it in no time. We were also having a problem with the lock on our storm door and he offered to fix that for us for a next to nothing fee. We will definitely use him again.

I needed four framed prints installed in a level, evenly spaced arrangement. Rob did the job precisely. Then he diagnosed and fixed the door of my nice medicine cabinet that had never stayed closed properly. He was on time and pleasant to work with. I’ll call him again.

Rob's was was great. He fixes our door after we were told by other handymen and door companies that it couldn't be done. Was very polite and cleaned up when he was done. He even cam back the next day to fill some holes. He is our handyman for life!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How does a locksmith open a locked door?

Locksmiths use specialized tools and techniques to open your door in the case of lockouts or lost keys. Trained locksmiths can pick your door lock with lock-picking tools such as a rake, a tension wrench, a half diamond or a hook. They may use a technique called bumping, which will work on pin tumbler locks, or as a last resort they may use a drill to remove your existing lock. The national average locksmith price ranges between $70 and $100. A locksmith can also replace your current lock system, re-key your locks if you have lost your keys, repair a broken lock, install a deadlock and more. Locksmiths not only help with front doors, they can help if you are locked out of your car, locked out of your mailbox, locked out of your shed … you name it. There may be an additional charge for emergency after-hours locksmith services. Check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost for a car locksmith?

There are several reasons you may need a car locksmith. You may be locked out of your car (either with the keys inside or with no keys at all), you may have lost your car keys and need a new key, or you may want to make a duplicate car key. The national average locksmith price ranges from $70 to $100. Getting locked out of your car can be scary and overwhelming — especially if it’s cold and dark out. Fortunately, professional locksmiths provide round-the-clock assistance to help people in these circumstances.

Car lockouts are one of the main reasons people need a locksmith. Your locksmith’s price can depend on the type of car you have, the time of day (or night) it is, and where you are located. Locksmith pricing may be based on a flat rate, or pricing may be quoted to you after the locksmith determines the circumstances. For example, a flat rate for a car lockout could be $65 for standard vehicles. That price could be higher for after-hours or long-distance service, or service during extreme weather. If you have entirely lost your car keys, a locksmith can make you a new car key, but first they must verify that you are the owner of the car. Locksmiths can even program new car key fobs for you — often at a lower price than a dealership.

How much does it cost to have a deadbolt lock installed?

Installing a new deadbolt lock can improve your home security, especially if you think your current lock system has been compromised or there are unaccounted-for copies of your house keys in circulation. A professional locksmith can install a new deadbolt for you in a matter of hours. The national average locksmith price ranges from $70 to $100. Locksmith prices for installing deadbolts may be higher based on whether the professional provides the lock or you have it on hand, how many components the locking system includes, and how long the installation takes. The cost to purchase a lock yourself from a big-box store can range from approximately $70 to $225 or more, depending on quality and materials. Higher-security locks often take longer and therefore cost more to install.

How much does it cost to make a new key for a car?

Locksmiths’ prices for making new car keys can vary depending on the make of your car as well as the time of day and location. The national average locksmith price ranges from $70 to $100, but duplicating a key may cost as little as $30, while extraction a key stuck in the ignition, cutting a new key and programming the fob can cost much more.

You might need a new car key if you have lost your key, the key broke in the ignition, the key is bent or damaged, or you just want a duplicate in case of emergency. You can request a duplicate of a key you have on hand, or you can have a new key made or cut if you have lost your original car keys. If you need to replace lost keys, you’ll need to first provide proof that you are the owner of the car along with the vehicle identification number (VIN). If you’re just locked out of your car but don’t need a key made, a locksmith may charge $65 to get you back in. Locksmith car key services are often far more affordable than dealership prices for new keys.
