The Chinese Boxing Academy, led by sifu Greg Hatza, offers the most complete curriculum and a great learning environment for anyone interested in internal kung fu. the training is rigorous but classes are run in a way that's deeply respectful to anyone's physical condition or ability level. The techniques are clearly demonstrated and the theory is always presented but not discussed ad nauseum. Each technique has enormous benefits both for health and martial applications. We are extraordinarily lucky to have this resource in Maryland, where legitimate internal martial arts lineages are uncommon. I urge anyone who may be curious to try it out and discover a deep well of knowledge that will enhance your life and energy immeasurably.

About

The Jow Ga Shaolin Institute promotes the study of authentic Chinese martial arts for health, fitness, emotional well-being and self-defense. We offer training to anyone interested, provided they have good moral character and a sincere desire to learn. We teach two primary kung fu styles: Jow Ga Kung Fu and Shaolin Mizong Kung Fu. Jow Ga, which originated in southern China, is a hybrid system that includes some of the most practical and effective techniques from both northern and southern Shaolin. Shaolin Mizong, a major system from northern China, combines external techniques from northern Shaolin with internal techniques from tai chi, xingyi and bagua. We provide comprehensive instruction in yang style tai chi chuan, from basic skills to advanced weapons and partner training. The yang style is characterized by slow, graceful and flowing movements. It is the most popular and is practiced throughout the world by those seeking a low-impact exercise for enhancing mental acuity, flexibility, balance, and physical well-being. We teach qigong (chi kung) as a separate class and also as part of our tai chi chuan program. Students learn how to harness qi (vital energy) using physical movement, body postures, breathing techniques, and mental focus. Our qigong style, called "Taijigong - the Art of Internal Power," leads to unity of body, mind and spirit.
