I highly recommend Gaurav at Knowledge Kinetics as a career and life coach. He is a keen observer of human interaction and is adept at reading character and motivations. His accumulated experience and education allow him to quickly assess skill sets and key strengths/opportunities at the individual level, helping his clients grow and progress professionally. Gaurav begins by investing time in open listening and observation, and quickly absorbs critical information and details. Once having formed thoughts and opinions, Gaurav is a thoroughly engaging communicator, whether addressing a single client or a large group. He effectively shares his ideas and recommendations with a personalized and customized approach that is always on target, leaving listeners inspired!   A few examples of Gaurav's coaching and consulting expertise and its impact on my own trajectory include the following: By leveraging Gaurav’s professional expertise transforming qualitative and quantitative data into insightful findings, I was able to bring added value to my larger team. This greatly benefited my organization from a business perspective, and allowed me to grow personally and professionally.   From a consulting perspective, Gaurav also worked effectively with senior leadership, and staff at all levels, to collaborate and advise on effective solutions to problem issues as an internal advisor. His sought-after counsel was a key input in organizational decisions. Whether helping guide you personally on your career and life journey, or inspiring larger teams in achieving critical organizational goals, Gaurav will prove an indispensable asset.

Amy is a very caring, positive supportive person. She is an excellent communicator with great patience. She was my life coach for about five years and helped me with my life goals and values. When I met my partner she became our couples coach. She was good at role playing and relationship skill exercises. She also was good at listening to us and not taking sides. The best thing I could say was that although I had been seeing her for years as my life coach , my girlfriend liked her from the start and always felt comfortable with her. She never felt that Amy favored me over her. This is the most compelling case I can make as to why Amy is so good and has a genuine affection for her clients. She is openly rooting for you. The things she could do better probably is true for most therapists and life or couples coaches. I felt especially as a couples coach she didn't challenge us enough or focus harder on some of the problems we were having. She did not however, attempt to do therapy which is beyond her training and was always clear and honest with us that she was a couples coach and not a couples therapist. My partner and I are still together and thanks to Amy we learned valuable communication skills and a respect for each other. I highly recommend Amy as both a life coach and a couples coach. You will always have a friend who cares about you and wants what's best for you in her.

I made it to my lowest weight in my adult lifetime working with Mike. We were neighbors before our client relationship took hold. He was always encouraging from day one of meeting him. Simple things like passing down older magazines of men's health that had good articles in them about weight loss and overall fitness. Once we became client/trainer the level of attention help tremendously. It's been awhile since we have seen each other in person but I still follow and read most of his blogs. And I have always been impressed with the work he has done. In the end, whatever you may be trying to achieve falls on you, but having someone like Jaz or Mike in your corner will definitely keep you motivated.

Joanna was a wonderful listener and excellent person to speak with. She was there for me when I most needed her and helped me evolve as person. I have been to therapists in the past and have never felt as fulfilled as I did when I started having sessions with Joanna. A job of a good therapist is not to have their clients depend on them but to teach them how to fully function on their own and that is exactly what she did for me. She helped me to see the capabilities I hold within myself and I will forever be grateful for that.

I have had the pleasure of partnering with Tiffanie, the experience was very transformative. As a coach, I know what it takes to be a good one, Tiffanie is a great one. We partner with coaches to gain insight ( or sight) of that which we can not or choose not to see. Tiffanie's talent for intuitive listening coupled with the ablility to hold the space that exposes your blocks will create life changing results. She did it for me, allow her to do it for you.

Mr. Qureshi is highly proficient in teaching meditation and deep relaxation techniques. During the first session, I felt a natural connection with Mr. Qureshi and his teachings. I look forward to future sessions and would encourage any who are interested in meditation to give it a try and see the stillness and peace grow within you.

I truly enjoyed working with Online Health Babe. I felt like she was really invested in my goals and helping me meet them, and she provided a level of compassion that I have not found in other coaches. She is professional and thoughtful. I appreciated that she listened to my needs and tailored her program to them, rather than push her own agenda. I would love to work with her again.

Tawawn is an excellent Goal Settibg/Vision Board Coach. She helped me dig deeper into the purpose of my goals and then helped me map out a detailed journey as to how those goals would come to fruition. She's straightforward, cuts no cards yet gentle when necessary. I'm grateful for she intuitiveness and guidance along the way. She makes herself available for my "SOS moments" while gently nudging me back on track. For someone seeking her service/coaching, you WILL be well pleased. I owe my life to Soigne. My main challenge was taking control of my physical well being after quitting a 2nd job and getting a promotion in my main job. I was in a very emotionally vulnerable place, professionally and personally, and physically I was a wreck. She helped me look at my problem from a very professional and objective point of view, setting clear, achievable goals for nutrition, fitness, and well-being. She set me on the path to change, and I took Soigne's plan and ran with it.18 months later, I've lost 114 pounds (and have kept it off for 6 months) and am training for a 150 mile bike ride in a month. I now have more balance in my personal and professional life, and she continues to advise me on working to find and maintain that balance. She has a great ability to help someone cut through the emotional storm and help you find out what really matters, what is really at the root of the issue, and how you can tackle it. 18 months ago, a 150 mile bike ride was a dream. Being physically fit was a dream. Proper nutrition was a dream. Soigne helped me to make those dreams my new reality. Quite literally, she's added years to my life that I would have missed had I not changed. I can't thank her enough.

Daniel is very detail orientated. He takes the time to explore all aspects of his clients needs. He is motivating, personable and the most caring trainer I have ever worked with. He is a wealth of knowledge about health as well as physical training. He thoroughly researches anything that he doesn't already know. You are lucky to have him as your holistic coach.

Jazz is great! She will be as hands off or hands on as you need her to be to even giving you a little friendly reminder everyday to make sure you stick with your program. She does it all from workouts to nutrition and can customize your plans based on what your looking for and what your goals are as opposed to a one size fits all. Her workouts definitely kick your butt, but in a good way of course!

I got my dream internship as a result of working with Kate. I wasn't sure which industry I wanted to pursue, I just knew I was horribly unhappy with what I had been doing prior to business school. I knew that my summer internship was a great opportunity to try something new, but I wasn't sure how to narrow down my possible choices. By asking me thorough questions and learning about my strengths and preferences, Kate helped me develop a plan to pursue a job in the Hospitality industry. With her input on my resume and her help preparing for my interviews, I landed the first job I applied for. Without a doubt, I would not have gotten that job without her help. After 10 years in the workforce, I can finally say that I love my job!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a life coach?

A professional, accredited life coach works with people to help them make important changes in their life, either growing in their profession or changing gears in their personal lives. They help clients turn their dreams or wishes into realistic, attainable goals. They guide people through the process of making life changes by helping them evaluate the steps they must take to reach a particular goal, then help them decide how — and whether — to take those steps in the most efficient, effective and rewarding way possible. A life coach acts as a motivator, strategist and accountability partner. Unlike a therapist, a life coach doesn’t help solve problems from your past — they’re focused on helping you move forward with new ways of acting and thinking that will help you reach your goals. Some people specialize in particular types of life coaching, including life balancing coaches, small business coaches, executive coaches and personal finance coaches. Some meet clients in person, while others hold consultations over the phone.

Regardless of which type of life coach you’re interested in, make sure the person holds an International Coach Federation (ICF) credential. There are three tiers of credentials: Associate, Professional and Master, which require coaching experience ranging from 100 hours to 2,500 hours.

Why get a life coach?

People of all ages and in all careers have called in a life coach. Life coaches are accredited professionals who can help you figure out the tangible changes you can make in your life to reach your goals; they can even help you turn your dreams into goals, if you’re not sure where to go next. A life coach can also help people find their purpose in life. Life coaching clients often have an idea of what they want to do, such as help people or work with animals, but don’t know how to turn that passion into a career. A life coach can help clients work through the options to find a clear path with concrete steps that lead to an attainable goal. A life coach can also help clients make a major career change, such as starting a new business. Life coaches can help clients develop better habits that will make them more successful, acting as an accountability partner. Life coaches also often guide their clients through major transitions in life, such as a career change or other stressful situations that are made easier with guidance from a neutral third party.

How much does a life coach cost?

A life coach helps clients set and reach professional and personal goals, develop positive habits, and deal with stress. Some people meet with a life coach once or twice, while others form an ongoing professional relationship, meeting regularly in person or on the phone. The average national cost to meet with a life coach ranges from $80 to $130 an hour. Some coaches offer per-session pricing, especially for one-time meetings; expect to pay an average of $100-$125. People who want to work with a coach over a period of time to explore life transitions, career growth or lifestyle changes may be able to get discounted pricing in a package. For example, three 60-minute sessions cost an average of $300, four 60-minute sessions cost an average of $350, and four 60- to 90-minute sessions plus unlimited contact between sessions cost an average of $400. Some specific types of coaching, such as relationship or marriage coaching, cost more than standard life coaching. For instance, three 60-minute relationship coaching sessions cost an average of $500, four 60-minute sessions cost an average of $550, and six 60- to 90-minute sessions cost an average of $650 when purchased as a package. Training and experience can also affect the cost of hiring a life coach. An Associate Certified Coach, who holds a certification that requires only 60 hours of training and 100 hours of coaching experience, will charge less than a Master Certified Coach, who typically has at least 200 hours of training and 2,500 hours of coaching experience.
