About
I teach violin and viola lessons for ages 4-18, as well as for adults. Suzuki Method principles are the basis for lessons for young students. I strive to provide a solid technical and musical foundation. Lessons include scales, technical exercises, classical repertoire, music reading & theory, and fun ensemble music such as fiddle, gypsy, movie themes, and Celtic music.
Someone once asked me if I got tired of teaching Twinkle (the beginner song nearly every violinist starts with). I replied: No, Every student is unique, no two "Twinkles" are alike!

I have been studying with Ms. Sadasivan on an off for many years. Ruth is an incredible teacher with years of extensive experience. She is engaged, and beyond supportive with her students. She has adapted to new technology quickly since the coronavirus pandemic, and is effective at addressing problems even over skype! Whether you are a beginning player or a veteran, I believe Ruth has something amazing to offer as a pedagogue, musician, and coach. I would recommend introducing her to any aspiring violinist in a heartbeat!

FAQs
What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Lesson payments are every 2 months. Fees cover accompanists, concert facilities, ensemble classes, and other studio costs. Lessons are based on $30/30 minutes.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Usually young students and their parents meet with me first to get background information about my studio. Prospective students may observe other student lessons and/or take a trial lesson.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BMus and MMus degrees in music education and violin performance, plus have completed 'all but dissertation' for a DMA in violin performance. I have played in professional orchestras and have been teaching private lessons as my full-time career for many years.
