We used Sitting Comfortably in-home for the first time for a 5-day family trip in May 2014, and we were MORE than pleased with the preparations, the onsite interview and familiarization, and the actual sitting effort itself during the 5 days we were gone. We are very particular about my house and everything about our pet - a 20-pound Maine Coon cat. As you can imagine, having someone stay overnight in your private home can be unsettling, but the experience with Sitting Comfortably was EXCELLENT! We couldn't have been more pleased with the results, and with both Summor, the owner, and Jessica, the sitter. Jessica exceeded our every need and kept us up-to-date via text messaging and a daily report card from our cat about the experience. I would never hesitate to use Sitting Comfortably again, and i HIGHLY recommend them for your in-house pet-sitting needs.

Pete and Amber have many years of experience working with all types of dogs and the 'issues' that come with them sometimes. Not only are they knowledgeable about how to train your dogs, but they actually enjoy what they do, making it a pleasant experience for you and your pet.

Terry did a wonderful job shaving down my very matted, very aggressive old cat. She works gently and kept cool even when my cat was getting out of control. She really is a wonder with cats.

We reached out to Angela to help us with our reactive lab mix. After our sessions with her we were amazed at how much we learned and we had a much better behaved dog. We strongly recommed her to anyone who is looking for obedience training or even one of her pet sitting services.

We had Just Fur-Babies watch our dog and cat while we were out of town for 5 days....and we couldn't be happier with the service provided! They sent updates and photos after each visit - which was comforting. We came home to well cared for and content pets :) We already booked another date for a future trip. We recommend Just Fur-Babies to anyone who wants a reliable and professional in-home pet sitter who truly care about your pets!

Tiffanie provided dog sitting/housesitting services while we traveling for 5 days this spring. We have a younger dog and this was the first time we traveled together, leaving him completely alone. She did so much to put our minds at ease, including a very thorough introduction meeting before we left, very detailed updates, and prompt communication. We love that she's near our neighborhood and able to stop by multiple times a day to let him be active and get some energy out. She is a great value for pet sitting and we would absolutely trust her with our dog again!

I am a huge animal lover, mainly dogs. I am willing to travel, but right now, my transportation is limited. Contact me to ask about traveling because being limited, it could be changed. I will watch your pet, feed them and do whatever you would like me to do to take care of them.

I am here to help make your pet understand its enivorment and what is going on around them. I also teach them what is acceptable behavior and what is not. I can train your dog so that you are the one in control. I also do pet sitting, dog walking and bathing and grooming. I have 15 years of working hands-on day and night training, preparing puppies and adults to enter the dog show ring and win. Socializing a pet especially when they are growing is a must, so I can help you do that if you have a new, four-legged friend.

I am seriously dedicated, follow thru, and punctual.

I absolutely love pets. I am passionate and going to school to become a vet technician and looking for a great experience.

I love being around animals, and I couldn't be any happier than doing anything than being a pet sitter. I'll be your new animal's best friend. Also, I work on training dogs as well.

I have many years of experience in pet sitting. If your pet stays with me, I have a collie mix who I have had for 7 years. Exercise is important when caring for animals. I am very active with my pet. I take my dog out for at least an hour everyday. If you have any questions, please text or call me.

I provide a warm and caring environment where your pet/pets can spend the day being pampered. They can socialize in a nontoxic environment, with filtered water, natural foods, snacks and more. When the pets are in the house, it is very peaceful here and a schedule is maintained as pets love a routine. The most important focus is that I only take 3-5 dogs at a time, so my service has the personal touch, a home away from home. Serving the Greater Kansas City and local areas.

I love animals, and I believe when an owner is away for business or pleasure travel, our pets thrive on staying in their own home environment. I use the whisper method with horses, dogs and even with cats who are a bit feisty. There is nothing better for the inside of a person than the outside of a furry friend!

I take care of animals as needed while you're away/when you're there or just a onetime deal. I can also do house-sitting and light housecleaning.

As a pet sitter, your sole responsibility is to take care of the client's pets while he/she is traveling. This includes walking the dogs, feeding the animals, cleaning up any messes you (or they) have made (counter and spoons cleaned), administering medication (if needed), scooping the litter box daily, picking up the mail and paper, and doing any light watering for indoor/outdoor plants.

I love to work with animals and can walk, run, and watch your pets whenever needed. I will work to meet your needs.

I am just a college student looking to walk dogs and/or watch dogs/pets while customers are away on business or vacation.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much should you pay for a pet sitter?

Pet sitting provides your precious pet with in-home care. A pet-sitter can make a brief visit during the day to provide snacks, playtime or affection, or stay at your house for one or more nights to tend to your pet. Prices for pet-sitting will vary based on length of the visit. Nationally, pet sitting prices range from $20 to $30, although prices run higher for your sitter to stay the night. Prices will also be affected by where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pet-sitting prices based on length of time and region:

  • 30-minute visit: $17 in a small Texas town.
  • 30-minute visit: $25 in Southern California.
    • 45-minute visit: $28.
    • 60-minute visit: $32.
  • Overnight stay (10 hours): $50 in Texas.
  • Overnight stay (10 hours): $85 in Southern California.
    • 12 hours: $100.
    • 24 hours: $200. This is a good option for a sick, elderly or brand-new pet that needs constant supervision.

How much does it cost to hire a house sitter?

House-sitting can be a lifesaver when you’re leaving town for any length of time. Whether you work remotely, you’re taking a much-needed vacation, or you just want to road-trip for a few days, it’s wise to have a pro keep an eye on your house and pets while you’re gone. Your home is more likely to stay safe and you won’t have to wrangle the kitty into a kennel to travel with you. The national average pet-sitting price ranges between $20 and $30. Pet-sitting and house-sitting costs will vary based on where you live in the country and regional labor rates. Another factor in cost is how long you want the house-sitter to stay. Some people prefer to have the house-sitter stay the night at their house, perhaps to care for an elderly pet or simply to keep a watchful eye on the home at all times. Overnight stays will cost more, ranging anywhere from $50 to $100, depending on services provided. For day visits, house-sitting and pet-sitting prices will increase incrementally the longer the visit and the more service you want performed. For example, a quick 10-minute visit to feed and walk the pet and bring in the mail could be $12.50, a 25-minute visit could be $18, a 40-minute visit $25, and a 50-minute visit $32.
