She completed her clinical internship at the Topeka Women’s Correctional Facility and the Topeka reception and diagnostic unit. Ms. Baker has served in several mental health roles including inpatient and outpatient therapist through the Menninger hospital system, the Kansas community mental health center system and the non-profit based services realm. She also brings experience as an emergency services screener, case manager, intensive-in-home family therapist, substance abuse provider and as a men’s maximum security correctional clinician. Most recently, she served as a director of community living in the developmental disability industry. Ms. Baker is certified as a level II EMDR trauma practitioner, and is licensed as a clinical psychotherapist through the Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board. She is a member of NAMI- the National Alliance on Mental Illness, the Kansas Psychological Association and Phi Kappa Phi National Academic Honor Society. Ms. Baker utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy as her predominant orientation with clients. She may also utilize components from other therapy models including: brief-solution focused therapy, psychoanalytic and dialectical behavior techniques, humanistic, strategic and narrative approaches, EMDR (eye movement reprocessing and desensitization), play therapy and interpersonal process strategies. Ms. Baker is licensed for independent practice, diagnosis of mental disorders and is trained to provide therapy, assessment and psychological testing for individuals, groups, couples and families. She is a medicaid provider and also accepts most private insurance.
