He does great work. He helped us with a door frame and interior painting and both jobs were terrific. I would highly recommend Joe for your next project. He is very reasonably priced.

They called to let me know they were on their way. They were very professional while at my house and they left the gate closed as they had found it. It was a good experience and I look forward to working with them in the future.

Jared responded within 1 day to our post and came out the next day to give us a bid. We discussed our project, he too measurements then sat on our bench, typed up the quote and then printed it right there. We hired Jared re-pour a floor that we removed on our back porch as well as a new concrete patio and 80 feet of sidewalk. The porch floor had to be a specific depth to allow for installation of the new door as we had a tight tolerance between floor and header. It was a perfect fit and the finish work was nice enough to just stain and seal. Jared is very picky and driven to make customer happy. We hit the rainy days of September right after we started, which caused some delays because it was too muddy for his equipment to haul the concrete from the truck to the side of the house. There were some ruts created in the yard, naturally, due to the rain. However, he and his crew worked to smooth it out as best as possible for as wet as it was and put down grass seed and straw. We were in a rush to get it all completed due to a wedding scheduled at our house the end of September. Jared hauled off our demolition debris along with the old concrete which was very kind and something he did not have to do. He also accomodated my request to modify the forms slightly before the final pour. We were very pleased with the job and would recommend Jared and Son Scapes for anyone needing concrete work. We will be contacting him again when it's time to build a new garage.

I own an old house, so today's methods don't always work. Brett knows how to work with that. He hung a door and it latches.

My two story house built in the 1920s has many "charming" old windows that are somewhat inaccessible and difficult to clean. Moto did an amazing job cleaning them (and the storm windows and the screens) with speed, positivity, and attention to detail. His work ethic is outstanding. Would/will hire him again. -Dr. JP

I engaged Mattoast Painting and Studio for some exterior and interior painting for my home. The work performed by Matt included some repairs and preparation, in addition to painting. The workmanship was excellent and Matt was exceptionally good about keeping me informed of status of the work. In my judgment the charge for the work was very reasonable, and the work was performed quickly. I would certainly use Mattoast Painting and Studio again and I readily recommend this quality professional.

Had a great experience using organized chaos. I need help painting my entire upstairs, this included living area, kitchen, stairway, front landing and hallways to bedrooms. It took three days to get it finished. Carrie did a great job of making sure all furniture was covered to lower the risk of paint dripping on anything. The paint job was great!! After the painting was complete she then cleaned the entire house. She worked fast and efficient and didn’t need instructions. She was very detailed in the cleaning. All bathrooms were cleaned amazingly, as well as the kitchen. She did everything I had asked for. I was very happy with how the house looked. I highly recommend this company. I am satisfied and would refer them to anyone.

They painted the outside of our home for us in 2012 and it still looks brand new. They got the job done fast and at a great price. What I like the most about Crawford's home repairs is that they are a family owned business. Mr Bobby was a very honest and reliable person aswell as his nephew. I Highly recommend them!

After having several contractors come out for bidding our project we decided to hire Reflection Ridge to complete the siding repairs and painting of our home. Rick has been great in answering our questions and was very thorough in explaining all the aspects included in the job. His price is extremely fair and reasonable for the scope of work and we have seen nothing but positive reviews of his company. Check out his website for images and references! Scheduling was also very prompt and we anticipate the job being completed by the end of month.

Jeremiah was very responsive and professional in our initial encounter. He quickly scheduled the work and showed up on time. His rate was reasonable and the work performed was fine (he painted a small bathroom for me). I only noticed a couple of tiny areas of paint smudges that are imperceptible, unless you are really looking for them. Overall, they performed well and I would hire him again for other projects.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do painters cost?

The national average cost for an interior painter ranges between $450 and $900. Interior painters can tackle everything from complete color makeovers in each of your rooms to touching up an accent wall to painting pieces of furniture. The square footage and complexity of the project, along with the materials needed, are the main factors that will affect cost. Other factors include whether you supply the paint yourself or want the painter to do so, whether you move the furniture and do the prep work or ask them to do it, and whether any repair work is needed on the walls. Painting the ceiling and the trim will also have an effect on cost. The type of paint you choose can also raise or lower your house painting cost. A gallon of paint may range from $20 to over $100, depending on quality and brand. Ask your painter if they charge per hour or per square foot, and how much you can save by doing prep work (moving furniture, etc.) yourself.

How much does it cost to paint the interior of a house?

Interior house painting costs are calculated on a few key factors. Nationally, interior house painting projects range from $200 to $2,500. The wide price range indicates how much square footage, paint selection and labor can affect cost. One pro uses a laser to measure each room, subtracting the size of the doors and windows, and then bases the quote on the square footage of the actual surfaces to be painted. Painters may provide you with savings if you opt to paint your entire home rather than just having one room or an accent wall painted. For example, the average house painting cost for an 8x12 room with 8-foot ceilings is roughly $200, when contractor-grade paint is used. Painting ceilings, baseboards and frames can also affect cost. Pros may charge per linear foot to smooth and paint baseboards. In one area pros might charge 50 cents per linear foot to paint baseboards, while pros in another part of the country could charge $1.50 per linear foot for the same task. Painters may charge flat rates for painting door and window frames, with one charging $20-$25 and another $60 per door. Geography and regional costs to do business play a major role in the cost of interior painting. The same painter in a rural region has less to pay in taxes, transportation, insurance and overhead than they would in a major city like New York.

How much does a painter charge per room?

The cost to paint a room will vary based on the size of the room, the type of paint you select, any ceiling or trim work needed, and any repairs needed. If no repairs or other additional work is needed, painting a room with contractor-grade paint could range from $1 to $2 per square foot, including materials. Selecting a luxury paint (some cost more than $100 per gallon) will certainly increase your house painting costs. Here are some additional examples of average house painting costs, per room:

  • 12x12 room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 12x12 room with an 8-foot ceiling: about $100
  • 14x16 master bedroom with a 9-foot ceiling: about $150
  • 14x16 master bedroom with an 8-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 16x16 living room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $175
  • 16x16 living room with a 20-foot ceiling: starting at $225
