Ray G. says, "Cody is amazing! He really helped me through the process of getting my roof replaced that was damaged during a storm. I had a lot of questions and was not sure of the process. He was extremely patient and walked me through the steps making me feel confident. He did extra things I have never seen contractor’s do. He took the time to repaint my dormers, chimney flashing then painted all my vents coming out of the roof black to match the house. It made my home and roof look 10X better and it’s something I would normally not notice. He was fair priced and did excellent work. I plan on contacting him for future projects that need done."See more

What is the best waterproof flooring for a basement?

There are several great options for waterproof basement flooring. For example, epoxy floors are waterproof but are thicker and sturdier than paint. Make sure the concrete substrate has been prepared for application.

I am writing this review to help other members on this site to be very careful when choosing to hire Jerry and his wife Shaunna from JK Construction. Based on my experience this is what I can warn you for your future project. First, I would not recommend them for a big project like finishing a full basement. My project went from estimated 3 months to approx 6 months. This is because he does not really have a normal crew and uses family members to help with project. He will not tell you this but you need to know in advance that the family members are not professional workers. Second, Jerry will try his best to cut corners to finish the job. The electrical part of finishing the basement took 3 weeks or more because he first tried to do electrical work himself while he is not certified. He hired his friend who was not a certified electrical to work in my basement without our knowledge that he was not certified. Likely we chose to do inspection which saves us because they failed the electrical and framing inspection because this. If we did not do the inspection he would have cut corners to save money. IT IS RECOMMENDED TO DO INSPECTION WITH HIM to save you from major issues. He is very not honest person as he makes empty promises. Our mistake here is that he purposely omitted a lot of items we discussed and agreed to be done during our initial walk through because he was not planning on completing them. As a customer, we felt like he was finishing the basement the way he wanted it without really our approval with what kind of material or selection we could choose. It was painful hard to communicate our need to us. The only time he will be nice or in good mood is only when he needs a check. He charged us an extra $1200 for a cabinet that was sitting in his garage with a heavy smell of cigarette. Then again we are stuck with it because we were not careful with him and too trusting of him. My final recommendation is, after reading this review and if you still decide to hire him, please make sure to specify every single items in the contract that you need to be done and make sure there is price next to each item. DO NOT let him full you saying it is a discounted price and cannot itemized everything in the contract. BE WARNED!!!! Pay him ONLY for the labor and buy material yourself to avoid our mistake! I will definitely NOT hire him again in the future. At the end, I just decided to let him go and let all the unfinished items taken care of by another contractor.
