Our group of eight spending a week in New Orleans wanted to host a party for about 40 people. The original plan was to cook ourselves, but when that became impossible, we called Jewel. On about a week's notice, she planned a diverse, delicious, creative menu for 40. The day of the event she showed up promptly, with a bartender she'd hired to help us. All we had to do all night was open the door for her and the bartender; they handled everything else. Several guests commented that her barbeque pulled pork was the best they'd ever had (and as southerners, they'd know), and her curried shortbread cookies rivaled my grandmother's for the perfect flaky texture and buttery taste. There was more than enough food for 40 (we fed at least 50 and had leftovers the next night!). She left the kitchen perfectly tidy, was gone as quickly and efficiently as she arrived.
