FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I studied at the University of Southern Mississippi formally & received a Bachelor of Liberal Arts. Yet, most of my designing training was sheer luck of the draw natural talent. My current knowledge set of construction and electrical needs in today's world of fast paced building practices wouldn't be possible without my husband, John's, patient guidance and education of how to's during our own home remodeling project which initiated my fondness to work with my hands. John's education includes numerous job titles over the years; yet most notably and most recently include his time spent working at Ingall's Ship Yard performing welding & industrial plumbing prior to the CoVid Pandemic, while also acting as an electrician at Sun Pro Solar Panels prior to his time spent at Ingalls. Yet, he owes a great deal of his ethics, pride in workmanship, and old school knowledge to the paternal men in his family. He learned a plethora of favorable building practices from his Father starting in his youth while working alongside him throughout John's formative years. John's Dad was a local contractor in our Hometown, and built well known apartment complexes and affluent homes. Spending time during his childhood with his father and grandfather gave him an immense and innate understanding of building techniques, creative genius when making foundation plans or home additions, and the ability to have an old world knowledge set while still adhering to the new worlds building codes and practices of the 21st century. John is fortunate he was shown a philosophy handed down by his elder family members which enabled him to have the capabilities to provide a home built from him his own hands. His dedication, persistence, and hard work are qualities our clients often tout as their most favorite and none of that would have been possible if it weren't for his relatives sharing all that they knew with him long ago. Thank goodness they had a vision of the future which has not only helped our personal lives become better but also provided a way for us to work together as a team doing what pleases us most and becoming profitable while doing it. If you love and find joy in your work, it no longer becomes a job but rather a passion!
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I've always had an inclination towards home interior design since my childhood. My Mother let me decorate our newly built home, choosing the entire color palette from the walls and floor tile to the furnishings and fixtures at the age of 12. Through my adult years I have moved in and out of so many homes that I've been able to follow my passions through home to work and so this type of work never seems like work.
