Willow is a 11 year old cat with matts in her fur. With loving care these matts were brushed out. After a comb and a bath Willow looks like a new kitty and looks much more comfortable.. Thank you for doing such a great job with my new kitty.

Joanne is the best. She knows more about birds than my vet and trust her more. I think she was a bird in a former life because I never have known someone who can handle, talk to, or bond with a bird more than Joanne. Call her for more than trimmings, she can help you with behavior problems, physical problems, or any other issue you have with your bird. (And she's good with dogs, rabbits, cats, or any animal too!)

The groomers did a nice job and they really seemed to care about the cat's well being. I liked how they would talk to the cat to calm him down during the more stressful parts of grooming.

Cheryl was excellent with our cat and getting all the mats out. She even changed the razor blade part way through to make sure it didn't get too hot and burn our cat. Highly recommend for all your animal's grooming needs.

My dog, a mini-Australian shepherd, was groomed at Family Companion two weeks ago and he still smells great! I asked for a basic bath and trim for our first visit, and he came back fluffy and beautiful. I was impressed with the open lay-out, and while I picked my dog up, I watched the groomer with a cat. She was very gentle, and all of the animals seemed to be quite calm - there was no barking until my dog saw me. I was happy to see my dog was not stressed when I pick him up, which is often the case when he goes to a groomer. Family Companion is somewhat far from my house, but the experience was excellent, and I think it is worth it to make the trip.

About

Entitled Cat Boston is the real deal. We are bonded and insured. Your cat carer will come over in a fresh white lab coat, pockets stuffed with treats and toys. She'll play, feed, brush, and send you photos of the whole thing. She'll clean your couch before she goes, all for less than the cost of a salon blowout. What would the perfect cat care service look like? Aside from the obvious, a cat carer is someone who cleans the cat hair off the couch every time she came over. She is the one who uses all-natural, pet-safe products to groom the cat and the one who emails photo updates of the cat at play. This and many other extras are now part of our regular service. We are Entitled Cat Boston.

About

I went to Pedigree School of Professional Dog & Cat Grooming. I have an animal CPR certification. I attended seminars on the East Coast to upgrade my professional skills and behavior knowledge in the field of dog and cat grooming. I started service out of my house since 1996. I opened up my shop in Brighton, MA, and latter in Somerville, MA, at Ball Square. I am partial to cats, but I love all animals. I talk to the pets when they come into my shop. It calms them down and makes them more relaxed. Being a groomer, I have chosen to spend my life helping you care for your pet. I love to see my clients and their pets happy! We have a commitment for excellence, giving our customers a few good reason to return. This is achieved from years of experience, industry expertise and customer satisfaction.

About

We offer dog and cat grooming for all sizes and breeds. We also offer pet sitting and walking at your home. We also offer small dog doggie daycare at our location. We have been in business for 30 years and are not a production shop. This means your pet will not be sitting in the shop all day long with 30 other animals. Instead, he or she will be here for a shorter amount of time with 10 or less other animals. Customers love the one-on-one attention their pets get with the groomer. The pets feel comfortable and get into the routine of getting groomed by the same person each time they come in.

About

Young energetic cat lover, I will feed the cats, scoop the litter and provide any other pet services you need. I specialize in cats and small animals.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Do cats have to get groomed?

It’s not crazy to have your cat groomed. Grooming will keep your cat’s fur soft and silky as well as give you early warning about any health concerns. Regular grooming can also help reduce the volume of hair your cat may be shedding and keep your longhair kitty cool if you live in a warm climate. Professionals competently groom your cat and are trained to manage them if they resist being groomed, while you may get scratched doing the same task. The national average price for cat grooming is $50-$70. Pet grooming prices may vary based on the task. For example, a bath and brush for shorthair cats may be $15, $20 for medium-hair cats, and $25 for a longhair. Cat groomers can also keep your cat’s ears cleaned, trim their nails, and provide haircuts if needed. Average prices for haircuts can vary from $30 to $95 or more, depending on whether the cat is shy or aggressive and whether their coat is in good condition, matted, or otherwise difficult to groom.

How much should cat grooming cost?

Keeping your cat groomed is an important part of maintaining their good health. The national average cost for cat grooming ranges between $50 and $70, with prices varying based on where you live and the services you request. Your cat’s temperament can also affect grooming prices. Scratching and hissing during a groomer visit can raise rates an average of $5-$10, or more, as hazard pay. Larger cats and long-haired cats that take longer to groom will also usually cost more. Here are some examples of cat grooming average costs:

  • Shave down or lion cut: $35-$60. These cuts preserve the hair around the face and tip of the tail but shave down the entire body. The lion cut is often recommended for extremely matted hair is exceedingly matted, for extreme heat, or for cats who are suffering from hairballs.
  • Ear cleaning and nail trim: $30.
  • Nail trim: $10-$15.
  • Bath and nail trim: $45.
  • Bath and sanitary trim: $55. A sanitary trim clips the hair on a cat’s behind to prevent fecal matting in longhair cats or cats that have mobility issues.
  • Bath, blow-dry, brush out, nail trim and ear cleaning: $40.
  • Full haircut, bath, and nail trim: $45-$95, depending on matting.

Where can you get your cat groomed?

Cat grooming keeps your cat’s fur tangle-free and clean. Most businesses that offer dog grooming or general pet grooming also offer cat grooming; some businesses even specialize solely in cat grooming. Look for a professional who has training grooming cats or belongs to a professional association such as the National Cat Groomers Institute, because cat grooming techniques can be different than for dogs. Cat grooming can encompass a wide range of services. In addition to haircutting, hair detangling and hairstyling, cat groomers can trim cat nails, clean out your cat’s ears, give flea baths, demat, trim facial fur, bathe and even blow-dry your cat. Health safety and etiquette requires your cat to be in good health and have all their vaccinations before using grooming services.
