King Window & Gutter Cleaning worked as specification . Cleaned leaves of gutter into bag . Discussed future requirements. Was on time . Although they reschedule from the 19th to the 26th( more leaves would have fallen by then .....They performed the job on a better day for me the 25th of Nov, the rains can now clean my gutter further. I will hire them in June 2017 for: 1. Gutter cleaning(winter and spring debri ) 2. Gentle roof brushing ( roof is 22 years old will be 25 in 2020) 3.Window cleaning on the windows at are higher height or too heavy on the mosquito " bug " screens.

Dmitry was the most professional worker we have encountered. He did a magnificent job and we would absolutely recommend him and his business to everyone. My husband already mentioned to Dmitry that he will be calling him in the spring to do some more work for us. Yanzo Window deserves a 10 Star! Beth Sansoucy

The owner of the company, Tony Taracena, was very punctual when he met me to look at the work I wanted done and give me an estimate. He gave me a competitive price, but the focus - before, during, and after - was on my being happy with his work. For the duration of the project - painting 3 interior rooms, 2 hallways, and 1 bathroom (along with sanding/priming/painting woodwork) - he was communicative and responsive to my questions and concerns. And when I asked, he was also helpful about giving paint color advice, since I was vacillating between choices, but also considerate and judicious to keep this advice in line with my taste and parameters. The project lasted 3 days, and Tony had three painters with him. The team always arrived together, and they were always punctual. They were respectful of me and my home/space, and I didn't hesitate to run errands while they were here. From our initial meeting, I trusted Tony, and that extended to his team that he, in turn, supports and trusts. I liked all the young men who worked with him, although quiet and absolutely focused on their work. Oh - I did try to prepare for their arrival by getting paintings and pictures off the walls and moving furniture, etc., but they were happy to move the things that were too heavy for me or that I did not get to, and this was a real boon. I had gotten estimates from other companies, and not every company was willing to move things. Naturally, there's some inherent or potential liability to moving someone's stuff, for example, scratches on floors or on furniture, but we discussed concerns (large TV removal from the wall that we decided my husband would do, and we noted scratches that were already on the floor) and it all worked out very well. In the middle of the job when I requested some more work be added on, Tony accommodated and gave me more than a fair price on it. I felt that we worked in good homeowner/professional partnership, and that had/has a lot of value to me. My husband and I are both pleased with the quality of the work he did; it's beautiful, and I can't wait to get the rest of my house finished by his company in a few months. I've had other work done to my home previously and have not had it be such an efficient and seamless experience, and with Tony in the lead, it was also respectfully personable and unfailingly professional; he really values his relationship with his customers. I absolutely recommend Taracena's Painting.

I researched roofing companies to have our house re-roofed. I contacted 5 companies ... 2 never showed up to even quote after they set an appointment, 1 quoted me DOUBLE what Storm Works quoted and the last company rep was, to be blunt, a bit strange and left me not feeling uncomfortable about awarding them the project. Sean from Storm Works was very professional, prompt and most importantly followed through on what he stated. When his crew showed up it was very obvious they knew exactly what they were doing. The work was done properly, we were guided through the process and at the conlusion you would have never known they were there with the exception of our new roof. A job well done all around! I would highly recommend Storm works.

Stephen is a consummate professional - his work is outstanding and is super personable. Stephen and his wife completed a brick- up (about 3 feet) of my window, taking the time to explain in detail how he was going to complete the job. From the moment of the first laid brick, you can tell Stephen is a true craftsmen, and had a passion for the masonry trade. Stephen, well done! 5-stars - Joe

For our open house we Had some of our ceilings painted, walls painted and lots of trim work!! (Our windows and some doors were all dark brown- we wanted them white to be more modern). The work was quick and clean (no drips or marks anywhere to be found) and Reubert was very easy to work with, responded quickly and was really flexible as we added a couple of Windows last minute. His prices are really reasonable - would definitely recommend him!! If the reviews let me post pictures I would have!

It is an absolute pleasure to write about the experience i had with stella. I bought a home in lexington and i was not impressed with the colors used on the tile on the first floor bathroom. I called some local companies to get an estimate on re-tiling the entire bathroom and when i dealt with eric, it was a hands down decision. Dealing with this company was nothing short of a delight. They were professional, honest, fairly priced as well as knowledgeable on their product and installation. It was comfortable the tile installer David having them in my house, as he was extraordinarily quiet and respectful. Clean and neat, a mess was never left in my home. On top of it all, the work was impeccable, as he was very precise in his work. I have already recommended Stella to a few friends and would absolutely promote for anyone to use them!!!!

I hired Felipe and his partner a few weeks ago to replace 8 windows and 2 doors. They did an AMAZING job... Not only was the price good but they were able to start the job 2 days after I approved the estimate. I dealt with Felipe and his partner, who were both polite, always at the jobsite and kept everything clean. The job was done exactly on time. I will highly recommend them to anyone. Thank you, thank you and THANK YOU!!!

I am a tenant in Worcester in a triple decker. I live on ground floor and have fenced in yard with a dog who loves that sort of thing. Call me spoiled but I got used to that. In the recent high-wind weather, a large 20' section of fence blew over. I discovered the posts were never cemented. Much to my dismay, the landlords did not want to fix the fence. In addition to having a dog I now had to leash walk everywhere, the yard was open to theft where I have a fire pit, grill, patio furniture, etc. I also feared the fallen fence would continue to get damaged and become impossible to salvage at all. I posted on thumbtack and received several replies. Some estimates were so high, they blew my mind. Then there was Billy. Billy wasted no time. He came right out to my apartment. He was empathetic to the fact that I was paying out of pocket on a property that wasn't mine and had a couple ideas on how to keep costs down. He recommended I buy the material. I bought it same day and two days later my fence was dug, poured, and set. The best part is he beat the snow coming and was extremely conscientious of his work. The old fence sections had rotted and worn down to the point where they had to be cut to be re-seated. Billy left full size posts for when those sections need to be replaced. When they are, they will match the height of the posts. I have already recommended Billy to a colleague who renovates and flips houses as a side business. I, myself, work for a General Contractor in Worcester but concrete and fence work was too much for me to tackle myself. I've been around the industry and I know good people when I see them. Billy is a hidden gem. I'd love to keep him the best kept secret I know but I'd be doing him and his work a dissatisfaction. I would recommend him to anyone. Without hesitation.

Mark installed new windows in my 1850 home, and we had to coordinate with a moving company so that they were there at exactly the same time. Mark was easy to work with, and responsive to the schedule changes, and installed my windows beautifully and at a reasonable price, I wiuld highly recommend his company!

I am a disabled veteran on a very very fixed income. I needed extensive contracting work done to my home. New doors, new roof, new windows, and new floors. Ray did a stellar job, he knew of my limited income and worked with me every step of the way. He has a rough exterior but a completely professional work ethic. I would recommend him to anyone needing a great contractor at a very reasonable price.

My wife and I hired Pat to do our siding. The short of it: Pat and his crew surpassed all of our expectations and then some! We cannot recommend them enough! The long of it: From beginning to end, this was a great experience. Pat quoted us a highly competitive price (in fact, it was the lowest one), he started the job on time, worked with his crew every day, finished on schedule and on budget, and added a number of extra architectural details (e.g., gabled roof line, exquisite door and window frames) at no extra cost. His quality of workmanship, attention to detail, and pride of work completely transformed our very ugly house into a dream home that is now the nicest house on the street – something Pat himself had promised he would do. As for his crew, these guys were great: they showed up early every morning, worked extremely hard throughout the day, cleaned up every day, and were very kind and courteous to us, our little daughter, and our dog. We actually miss having them around! As a testament to how great of a job Pat and his crew did, we now have random strangers stopping by to tell us how beautiful our house now looks. In the end, we could not be happier with how everything turned out. Pat and his crew delivered on everything they promised, and then some!

We met Gary Rawding, owner of Symphony Home Improvement, at a home show (the first one we ever attended). We set up an appointment to meet with him, that day, and are now the happy owners of new white CompositWood windows. From the beginning, our experience was a good one. Gary spent approximately four hours explaining the different types of window, and the technology used in the windows' compostion. In the end, we chose CompositWood windows because we felt that they were the best option. The installation crew came on the day scheduled and were on time. They each introduced themselves and were extremely courteous throughout the day and a half that was spent putting in 20 windows(including one very large one). They did a very thorough job and did not leave any hint of a mess. They were very professional. When the job was done, Gary came to inspect the windows to make sure all was well. It was. We are now considering replacing our front door, and will be calling on Gary of symphony Home Imrpovement. We love our windows. On a scale of 1-10, I would give all involved a 15!

3 years ago I needed to replace my roof. I also had two skylights I knew needed to be replaced but was always so worried that if I replaced them I would have issues. A friend recommended I call Budget Exteriors, I am so glad I did. When I met Lou and showed him my issues he was very accommodating to my concerns. Lou is very knowledgeable about his products and the process of work that needs to take place ~ I was very comfortable working with him. (I did get other quotes to see if he was fair and he absolutely was.) Going on 4 years and my roof still looks great and my skylights are issue free. So this summer when I wanted to replace all the windows in my house. I called Budget Exteriors for the job. Lou again explained what would be my best options and I was impressed again. His communication with me through out the job was a pleasant add. He seems genuinely concerned for the homeowner to have a good experience. My favorite is my front bay window. My previous front window was flush to the house. Budget constructed my new bowed bay window and it is gorgeous! I would highly recommend Budget Exteriors to anyone.

This company is a pleasure to deal with. We'd had some "used car salesman" experiences with other window providers, including big name ones. When we contacted Brian he immediately got back to us, guided us through the very user-friendly online tool, and scheduled a time when he and Jeff, the installer came to our house to take measurements. They had a lot of helpful suggestions and have been incredibly responsive. The windows are excellent quality, locally made, expertly installed, and priced extremely competitively. Thank you, Renoviso, for an excellent experience and for running a company the old fashioned way: good service, good quality, good prices.

Fantastic job! Responsible, trust worthy, and the windows look great! The only reason it was 4 stars instead of 5 is that they didn’t put the furniture back that they moved to do a window and some of the windows were left unlocked. Neither are a big deal. It was a pleasure working with them!!

Nick and his crew did an exceptional job on my windows and screens. I loved the fact he did the window cleaning traditionally. The crew took their time and what I loved most was Nick took me around the house after the job was done to see if I was satisfied with the job. Best window cleaner I have ever used.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you replace a window?

You may want to replace a window if the glass has been damaged, you’re remodeling a room, or you want to upgrade your energy efficiency as well as your style by getting rid of those drafty single panes that are losing you money. When replacing a window, you can remove and replace the entire window down to the house frame. This method is best if the existing frame is damaged or deteriorating, but requires construction skills and know-how and will take more time and money. An easier and less expensive option is to install an insert replacement window into the existing frame. Insert replacements are only an option if your window frame is in good condition without rot or damage.

When replacing an entire window, first you’ll carefully remove the existing window with a pry bar and other tools. Next, you’ll make any repairs and adjustments needed to the existing frame or header and studs to ensure that the space is perfectly plumb and square, so the new window will sit perfectly within the space. Next, install the new window from the exterior, securing it into place. You’ll need to precisely wrap and insulate the window to ensure it doesn’t leak. Then, install the interior casing and exterior trim (as needed). If you prefer to hire a professional to install a window, consider replacing more than one window at a time, as the pro can work more efficiently.

How much is a custom window?

Choosing custom windows will increase your window installation cost but will provide you with exactly what you want. The average national cost for window installation is $2,650. Your custom window costs will vary based on several factors. The first factor is the type of frame you want. The four most common types of frames are vinyl, fiberglass, aluminum and wood. Wood is typically the most expensive option, followed by aluminum. The type of glass you select will also affect cost. There are single-, double- and triple-pane windows. Most double- and triple-pane windows have gas sealed between the panes that act as insulation. Windows typically cost more the more energy-efficient they are, though this efficiency can save you money on utility bills in the long run. The type of glass used can also affect cost. There are different grades of glass — high-performance glass, low-e coated glass, and more — which all provide you with better insulation. In addition, the number of unified inches (window height x window width) you need will affect cost. The cost of custom windows will also be affected by installation cost and whether any repair or construction work is required to properly fit the new window.

How much would it cost to put in new windows?

The cost to replace a window can vary depending on factors such as window size, type of glass, brand of window, necessary trim repair, and any construction work required for installation. Labor rates and cost to do business in your region will also affect the cost. The national average window installation cost is $2,650 per project. Here are some examples of average trim repair and window replacement costs:

  • Trim repair:
    • Line and case a window frame with an MDF product: $400.
    • Line and case a window frame with raw hemlock wood: $500.
  • Approximate cost to install five windows at one time: $3,000.
  • Approximate cost to install one double-hung, energy-efficient 3-foot by 4-foot window: $500-$550.
    • For the same window size (3-foot by 4-foot) from a different manufacturer made with a specialty fiberglass exterior and all-wood interior, the cost could go up to $1,500.
    • Pricing can go as high as $5,000 for a bay or bow window with specialty glass and framing.
      • These examples include removal and disposal of old materials and window.

How much is commercial window cleaning?

The national average cost to clean windows is $120-$170. Typically, window washing for commercial spaces costs less per window than residential window washing, but has a higher overall price because the greater number of windows. Commercial window cleaning companies may charge a standard rate per window — for example, $3 to clean the exterior only, with a higher rate of $4 or $5 to also clean the interior. There may be an additional charge, such as an extra $1 per window, for scrubbing off water stains or deep-cleaning window tracks. Double-hung windows require more labor and will therefore cost more to clean. Companies may charge a flat rate, such as $8 per double-hung window or $9 per French door, to account for the added work. Building height will play a factor in window washing costs. Standard cleaning for one- and two-story buildings will typically stay within the same range, but cleaning high-rise windows may entail special safety permits and equipment, which would increase costs. Your location will also affect window washing costs. Smaller towns and areas with a lower cost to do business will have lower window cleaning rates than large cities.
