Serge and his crew came to our home in Boston emergently to evaluate our sagging deck due to wood rot and shoddy construction. We were having the deck stained and Serge was called to asses jacking and bolstering one med-large deck and replacing the floor of our smaller deck. He got the job done within days with his crew. They saved us thousands of dollars (what replacing the deck would've cost) and the work was exceptional. Serge is professional, responsive and talented. The price was beyond fair. Having used Angie's list for years I'm now a Thumbtack convert and thanks to this site I would never look further than serge for my finished carpentry. In fact we already have another project for them.

Shalom Finish Carpentry has done a great job in my place. Everything was done as requested. Clean job, met the deadline and a grate person. And the best of all, Shalom Carpentry has a outstanding and affordable price. I recommend and I'll hire him in a future projects.

I hired Sergio to complete my back yard deck. He did a really nice job on it. I hired him through Thumbtack. He also did a front porch for my sister and did a very nice job on that. So I hired him because he did such a good job on those projects. However, he should just stick to what he advertises for which is carpentry. After he completed the deck I asked him if he does masonry work? He said "yes", he does not!! He hired someone with little experience to do the work. I found this out after the fact. I asked Sergio if he does stone walls and he said he did. So I hired him for to do this project. The wall did not come out the way I had planned, it is not straight it bulges, he left jagged stones sticking out, I am not sure if it is it going to sustain the weather?? It is not even across the top!! Red flag, he says he asks for 2 payments, one in the beginning and then one when the job is done. But he asked me for money half way through the work to buy more supplies and said he couldn't finish if I didn't give it to him. The job quote also increased toward the end of the project!! Another red flag. One, Sergio is not a mason so don't let him do any of that kind of work for you and second, make sure his price is firm. I would not hire him for anything again! Sergio should stick to carpentry and not any kind of mason work at all. If he did, I probably could have given him a better review!!
