It was a pleasure dealing with Chris. he was responsive to any and all questions and was extremely helpful in a pinch when the weather caused a hiccup in our plans and had to change dates at the last minuet. His cooking was exceptional and I look forward to having him cook again for next year if he's available.

I wanted a fun night for myself and two of my closest friends. This was a gift for them, and I know they won't forget it. Sarah was so careful to make sure the event was customized to our liking. Everything was perfect. The wine pairings were excellent and food astounding. My group was running a little late, but that didn't stop Sarah from filling our time with valuable tips and tricks. If you want a personal experience in a comfortable setting, this is perfect! I've looked into and have seen other "cooking classes" and none of them offer the value Sarah does. I would absolutely recommend the Home Chef of NH!

We used J&L catering for our wedding on 7.21.18. They were wonderful! Our guest raved about the quality of the food. The whole team was professional and provided amazing service. John was great to work with from the start. He was professional at all times, responsive and his passion for cooking shows in all he does. We will absolutely used J&L for future events!

Where to start...from our first contact to the seeing the kitchen totally clean after cooking the most fabulous food and serving at our party of 100 or intimate dinner for 14-it was all perfection. I can't wait for the next event-my only fear-Renee will become so sought after that she may be busy.....I know to book way in advance!

We had the pleasure of putting together a cooking demonstration and tasting series with Joe this past Summer on the Kendall Square Rooftop Garden. This series was an absolute blast! Joe created a different recipe each week by incorporating garden ingredients found in the Green City Grower Gardens located on the roof and showed us how to use them in everyday cooking. This series was free to the public and had some delicious results! We are looking forward to a new series starting every Wednesday evening in June!

Eilene has been cooking for my wife and I 2x/week for about 6+ months and it has been an absolute pleasure. We both work full time and have 3 kids under 6 years old. When we get home from work at the end of the day, not only is it hard for us to summon the energy to cook a healthy balanced meal for ourselves and our family as soon as we walk in the door, but even more importantly we prefer to spend that time playing with our kids rather than in the kitchen. Eilene has provided a perfect solution for us! Not only does she cook amazing meals that both taste great and are healthy, she's a great person and our kids always look forward to seeing her. If you are looking to lighten the burden of cooking meals each night, you can't possibly do better than Eilene and Too Busy to Cook! Craig Newton, MA

Alaina personalized the menu to our tastes. We learned a lot more about plant-based protein sources and new ideas for desserts and breakfasts. We left with enough delicious leftovers for lunches & dinners for the next few days, along with the detailed recipes. We repeated the recipes within the first week. Alaina also followed up with additional information about our questions involving cholesterol after our cooking lesson. We definitely recommend her classes for healthy, tasty meals.

Christopher provided a fantastic 4-course meal for our 18 person party. He was accommodating, responsive to emails, personable and most importantly a great chef. I intend on hiring him again in the future and would highly recommend to anyone else.

I am very happy working with Nate. He broke down my macronutrients for me and helped paint a picture of how I need to approach weight loss. While working with Nate I have lost 10 lbs in 3 months. It could have been more but honestly I had a few hiccups in the beginning which Nate helped me realize and got me on track. That being said he has expectations, which I respect, to take what we’ve talked about and start implementing in my life. I’ve been exercising for years but the last 3 months with Nate in conjunction has given me more result than I’ve ever seen. Also I may try some of his cooking lessons in the future because my goodness the scallop meal I tried from him deserves to be in a 5 star restaurant. That being said I have to give the man the 5 stars he deserves.

Our party of five hired Shilpi for a private Indian cooking class at her home in Andover MA. We had a wonderful time. Shilpi was warm, welcoming, and well prepared. After a quick lesson in Indian spices, we immediately got down to cooking five delicious dishes. It was a lot of fun and the hands-on teaching along with the detailed handouts will make it easy to recreate the delectable recipes at home. We highly recommend Shilpi and her cooking classes.

Having worked for a catering company, I know first-hand that companies often, sometimes necessarily, cut corners and in my opinion do not pay enough attention to detail or the customer's preferences. Working for myself gives me the freedom to indulge my perfectionist side, and spend as much time and attention on what I am preparing as it takes in order to create the dish both my customer and I want. I would not serve my customers anything I would not serve my friends and family, and I genuinely want those I work for to feel they are getting exactly what they envisioned.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do private cooking lessons cost?

You can take private cooking classes to have fun, to learn a new skill, to improve your health, to bond with your partner, to enjoy a playful first date or to have a unique birthday party experience. Nationally the average cost of private cooking lessons ranges between $100 and $150. Prices can vary, depending on where you live, the type of cooking class you’re taking, the ingredients the chef provides, and the reputation of the chef. Cooking classes with Anthony Bourdain will clearly cost more than classes with a local restaurant owner. The number of people in the class will also affect the cost, with group lessons often priced per person to account for the cost of ingredients. For example, for group lessons, a brunch workshop may cost an average of $70 per person, a steak dinner with sides could cost an average of $80-$85 per person, and a sushi lesson could cost an average of $100 per person. Ingredients play a major role in cost, as the chef will pre-purchase the food you will be working with. Weekday classes will usually cost less than weekend classes.
