Wayne was a pleasure to work with, he responded to my inquiry quickly and arrived on time when giving an estimate at my home. My garage area needed some repair and Wayne explained the whole process and took the time to answer any and all questions I had. He also was almost finished with the job but didn’t like some of the material we had and went out of his way to go and get some better materials to complete the work. Wayne and his company were a pleasure to have make repairs on my home and would like to let anyone who’s looking for a company to hire, I strongly recommend his!
John did many different things for us and we were happy with all of them. He is versatile and meticulous and always uses his brain while working. He offers good advice, communicates his plans clearly, pays attention to your requests and never rushes anything just to get the job done. He also happens to be honest and reliable. We were happy to have him around the house and we are already planning to hire him for our next projects.
Professional, gives great feedback and ideas; pays attention to detail. Highly recommend for your home project needs!
Dermot and his team are my go-to contractors. I've used them for two separate projects and plan on using them again in the future. Highly recommend!
I have never worked with an interior designer before so I had no clue what to expect or if I could even afford one. I was looking for ideas for a floor plan for my bathroom reno. Lidia came to my house and explained the process in detail. For $500.00 she and her assistant came in and took measurements of my bathroom. From there she came up with 4 different floor plans. After I chose the one I liked the best, she gave me permit drawings for the town. Lidea then contacted me and we went shopping for tile ideas. There were a couple of floor tiles that she picked out that I wasn't really fond of until she coordinated it with an accent tile. WOW! I fell in love with it. She definitely has a talent with design. I would recommend her services to anyone.
Stephen E I hired Peter Tise and the crew at THB to rehab a two family stucco house in Newton that was in very rough shape. They installed new footings in the basement, added engineered lumber to accommodate two new roof dormers and an open floor plan on the 2nd floor. They removed and relocated all the stairways inside. They rebuilt and upgraded the two story deck in the front, Added sliding glass doors in the dining room, both on the 1st and 2nd floor, that lead to a new 2 story deck in the back of the house. The work list goes on and on. Would I be reluctant take on a project of this size again? I might be, but I wouldn't be reluctant to hire Pete and the crew at THB. Pete does great carpentry work and he was instrumental in overseeing and managing subcontractors. Absolutely, two thumbs up for Pete and the crew at THB.
I used Concept21 to draft plans for an addition to my existing house. Galina was very professional with her suggestions and was responsive to my requests. I was very happy with her finished product which was completed before deadline.
I ended up scaling back my plan and not needing Jeanne's services, but she was responsive when contacted, came out within a few days, had several helpful and creative suggestions. She even did some research for me that was also very helpful (in case I decide to do an attic conversion down the line).
Sean Moriarty came to remove the snow and ice dams from the roof of my large, colonial house. Sean was punctual, reliable, and hardworking. He worked for the whole day. I would use him again for any other job I needed done. The quality of his work was excellent!
We met Umberto back in 2006 when we started to plan our remodeling project. He had been recommended to us by one of our neighbors. He took the time, week after week, to sit down with us and listen to our ideas and “needs”, trying to combine pre-existing structures, practical aspects and a new modern design. When he presented us with his first drafts, he already had several variations in mind, giving us the chance to explore various options. He was always open to suggestions and special requests. During the permit process, he collaborated closely with our land surveyor and structural engineer and represented us during hearings in front of the zoning board and building department. Umberto really facilitated the whole project, always keeping track of the necessary steps and communicating the progress. Unfortunately, it turned out that remodeling was far more expensive than we had thought, and despite “value engineering”, a complete new construction would be cheaper and more energy efficient. Aware of our concepts and “special needs”, Umberto was able to come up with a completely different plan for a brand new construction in record time. Limited to the pre-existing foot print, we had to make some concessions, but Umberto talked us through the options and made adjustments along the way. “Our” house could not have been built without Umberto’s diligent work ethic, his aptitude to listen and incorporate ideas and concepts into solid architectural designs, his communication skills and his flexibility to allow for last minute changes. Thank you Umberto for all your help. We couldn’t have done it without you!
I worked with Steve for several years and was inspired by his energy and technical proficiency. He has worked on the highest end housing utilizing custom materials from around the world and specialty craftsmanship. He also understands market rate housing on the single and multifamily scale bringing his expertise to both. His California vibe is easy to work with and open to all ideas. If you're looking for a residential architect Steve has a wide background of styles, scale and types.
I reached out to Sarah looking for an architect to draw some plans for a client. Sarah has taken the time and effort to work with the client to fulfill her needs and work with her to complete the project. Sarah is very forthcoming and I am looking forward to working with her in the future.
Our house was a 1955 ranch-style house with 3 bedrooms, one bath, kitchen, and living/dining room that we moved into in 1995. We had been looking to add a second bathroom and had originally worked with an architect from NH to do a modest front and rear bump out to give us more room to fit in a second bathroom. This architect had to withdraw from the job and recommended David Kinsella of TBC. David initially made some modest changes to the plan that made sense. After some further discussion, in which my wife and I raised the possibility of a larger scale project to modernize the style of the house, David developed a plan that essentially rebuilt the house except for our previously remodeled kitchen and original foundation. This new plan converted our house into modern design with a more open floor plan, completely new roof line, loft space, re-finished basement (and the second bathroom). David was able to fit this into an only slightly expanded footprint in order to comply with town regulations. Throughout the process, David kept our budget in mind and would typically present different price options for us to choose from to allow us to come up with a reasonable comprise between price with style. In addition TBC worked with the town to make sure our design stayed within our zoning and conservation restrictions. After deciding to go ahead with the project, we interviewed several contractors and decided that TBC brought us the best value for our money and would also allow David to oversee the project as needed. We started the project in June 2011 and completed the project in May 2012. The project did take several months longer than expected, but did stay on budget. The major problem that occurred that delayed the project was that in the summer of 2011, the original subcontracted framers were being sent to other jobs by their boss even though TBC was told they would be coming to our job. Hence, instead of working full time on our job, they were working less than half time. Eventually TBC had to fire them and find a new contractor to step in. At the time we felt that TBC should have replaced them sooner, but perhaps this was difficult due to contractual obligations. (We also found this first group of framers were slobs who did not have much regard for the fact that we were still living in the house.) By the end of summer 2011, the house was not completely framed and roofed and number of rain storms (including hurricane Irene) slowed down progress further. In mid-October we were still living in the part of the house and we agreed at this point that we would move out to allow for a more efficient work flow. From this point construction generally proceeded ahead, except for a few delays do to weather and scheduling conflicts that arose for other subcontractors, no doubt due to the significant delay caused by the no-show framers. In the end the house is beautiful and works for us better than we could have imagined. While the house has not expanded much in terms of square feet, the open floor plan and high ceiling/roof line combined with increased natural lighting gives a much more expansive feeling inside. From the curb, the house has modern angular green metal roof with cedar siding and one has to look hard to find any resemblance to the original house. At the completion of of the project, TBC was very responsive to completing punch-list items and other minor issues that arose. While my wife and I certainly had stressful times during the renovation (and certainly did a lot of second guessing our decision to renovate rather than move), we always felt that David had a personal interest in getting the job done correctly and making sure that we were happy in the end. In that regard, David was very accessible by email or phone before, during, and after the work. In summary, David Kinsella provided the creativity to design a renovation plan that was truly transforming for our house and TBC was then able to see the plan through to successful completion.
Very knowledgeable, fun to work with, stayed within budget and I was delighted with the outcome. The project was redesigning a large room off the house entryway. Flooring, furniture, color and accessories. It turned out great.
Rebecca was great to work with. She listened to what we needed and did her best to show that in her work. She was quick to respond and got our plans to us in the time she agreed to. Her rates are fair. I recommend independent design.
Shannon has helped us with some initial concepts for potential improvements to our Cape-style home, which may lead to a final plan and construction later. She is very responsive and makes a genuine effort to understand our goals and needs. Her work is creative and professional, and she draws on good experience. I look forward to continuing to work with her.
Ben provided architectural services for my apartment remodeling. He listened to my needs and wishes are transformed it into a few drawings, which allowed me to make critical choices. Ben worked patiently to find the right answers for the right design for my limited space, integrating most important features I was hoping for. we were able to create adjustments to my condo that added comfort and value. Ben is very careful to plan within the budget I had for my project.
What a wonderful sense of design and creativity. It was a pleasure working with Lyndsey. She listens carefully and suggests great ideas that just seem to have released my own creativity. She helped design my beautiful kitchen using CAD and I also own some of her very unique pottery. She was always available when an idea struck me and quickly drew up new plans when I changed my mind. I highly recommend working with Lyndsey on any creative project and I will be sure to call her back when we are ready to put the addition on my house. Thank you Lyndsey!
Greg helped to create drawings and specs for two brand new Sub Zero Ice Cream shops at 495 Amherst Street, Nashua, NH and 295 D.W. Hwy., Nashua. This is a brand new franchise in New England and he did a terrific job piecing together what was needed by corporate, the City of Nashua and us, the owners. We would highly recommend Greg and his team. We plan to use him as we grow the Sub Zero Franchise across New England!
I am very happy with my experience working with Chris in designing a new master bedroom out of an unused attic. He listened to my ideas and advised me about their practicality and workability. He added his own ideas as they supported or enhanced mine, or modified them in positive ways. He was helpful in drawing up plans and in working with my contractor to make them useable. I am very happy with the result.
We wanted to expand the footprint of our 1997 Boxford colonial home. The expansion was to include a large, new family room with a fireplace, an enlargement of our kitchen with relocation of appliances, and the creation of a third garage bay over which a new home office would be located. The challenge was that wetlands restrictions imposed challenges. Sisia had to consider these restrictions as she began drafting a plan. Throughout this process, Sisia demonstrated not only her ability to listen carefully to us and our ideas, but exhibited her own excellent design judgement by improving upon those ideas and suggesting things we had not thought of at all. Sisia's mastery of drawing and mechanicals made for an excellent and very accurate package. She spent a good deal of time taking measurements and checking them against original building plans. Not every architect does this, as it is time consuming. But anyone who has gone through a building experience with a general contractor where such measurements have not been made carefully by the architect will tell you that the results will be poor and ultimately more expensive, because corrections will have to be made in course. Sisia is prompt, professional, and highly personable. We would recommend her services without reservation for any building project, large or small, where taste, judgement, and competence are paramount.
