High praise for Otis Read. He is a talented musician, and shares his musical creativity and teaching skills with me every Friday morning. He has done so since September 2017. Otis is attentive, patient, congenial and enthusiastic. He has innovative answers for the numerous questions I have about chords, reading music, fingerpicking—anything that comes up during our lessons. He brings himself totally to these lessons, never preoccupied or rushing through them. I am always curious, and he takes the time to show me alternative keys for various songs, styles/methods of strumming/plucking as well as inventive “moves” on the guitar. I have learned so much in the nine months we’ve been working together. Otis is also honest, no false praise from him. He challenges me weekly, making me a better player. When I get discouraged about being unable to negotiate a complicated chord or frustrated with my lack of plucking agility, he’s always encouraging and supportive. One anecdote: Several of my musicians friends,—guitar, mandolin and stand-up bass —were playing at my house recently during a big party. They insisted I play with them—I was petrified, deer-in-the-headlights intimated. I got my guitar and sat in with this talented group, and while I’m not in their league at all, I was able to handle the material and sound good. The musicians complimented me and the rest of our friends applauded. Wow! Thank you, Otis!
Bertrand is a fantastic guitar teacher and clearly a very gifted musician. When I decided to get guitar lessons, I was a little overwhelmed by the choices on thumbtack and I checked out another teacher before I went with Bertrand. Even at the outset, he was very helpful in a non-intrusive way, making sure that he's available and eager to teach but allowing one to make one's choice in one's own time. I've been very happy with my choice. I knew nothing about the guitar when I started and can be easily intimidated or frustrated, but I've been pleasantly surprised by how much fun it's been to learn from him. He's always cheerful, positive, encouraging and most of all, he works hard to make it fun for the learner. He mixes music theory with practice drills seamlessly. The 1hr class goes by quickly and I'm surprised to find that I enjoy practicing!
I've been taking guitar lessons from Nick Cooper for 7 months. Besides having a great time, I've learned a tremendous amount from Nick and improved my playing greatly. Whenever I'm having an issue, he's has been able to give me the right exercises and instruction to iron my problems out and keep me progressing. His lessons always keep in mind my personal preferences and objectives. I'm particularly excited about his plans for group workshops to involve all of his interested students. Being an older adult with a full-time job, I've been especially appreciative of his efforts to work within my schedule and time constraints. All in all, I look to be studying with Nick for a long time. Cliff Cahall
My 9 year old daughter has been taking guitar lessons with Julie for a year. She has progressed nicely and really enjoys the lessons. The end of the year recital was wonderfully entertaining and a great goal for my daughter to work towards. Julie has been easy to communicate with and I have already recommended her to other mothers.
My daughter has been taking bass guitar lessons at Anita's school for about 2 months and has thoroughly enjoyed it. Her teacher, Brett, is kind and patient. She feels totally comfortable with him.
Jaime has been a wonderful guitar tutor for me. I had no idea about guitar basics and here I am on track to start playing songs. It has been 2 months since i started class with Jaime and every class has been professional and personalized to my needs. He understood my strengths and corrected my mistakes. He consistently challenged me to move out of my comfort zone while playing. It takes patience to teach and Jaime has got it. He truly added value for the money I paid.
My husband is really enjoying his guitar lessons with Bradley!
A perfect match for my 15 year old daughter taking singing lessons. Amanda's knowledge, talent, and enthusiasm are contagious. She has fostered my daughter's confidence and developed her singing skills. I highly recommend Amanda. You become part of her singing family and she gives more than 100% of herself each lesson. I wouldn't go anywhere else!
I have taken guitar lessons from Alan Donati for a number of years in order to better understand music. Being a weathered rock/blues drummer myself, I can attest that Alan is a very accomplished musician and seasoned music teacher who learned his craft via years of playing in rock, blues and jazz bands as well as attending Berklee as a solid foundation. Alan can teach a number of instruments well such as guitar, bass and piano alongside incorporating music theory with the practical applications. He is very adapt with technology as well as “old school”. I have seen Alan teach many students with great patience with tailored attention to the particular student’s interest. Some veteran musicians can only play well but not teach. However, Alan can obviously do both. And so I am giving Alan an outstanding review and rating.
Jeanne responded quickly to the request, was a very good communicator, and through the first two guitar lessons with my daughter, things seem to be going very well! I greatly appreciate her willingness to travel a fair distance to come to our home and conduct the guitar lessons. Highly recommended!
I started private guitar lessons with Bob Wolfman a year and a half ago, with the hopes of getting past a guitar playing rut I’d been stuck in for a few years. I felt I had reached a plateau and that I wasn’t progressing much since I switched out of the music program at UMASS Lowell. Within my first few lessons with Bob I was already progressing more than I had with ten years of prior instruction! In my first three months of lessons with Bob, I was very impressed by his ability to simultaneously cater to my direct interests (music theory and improvisation) while exposing me to concepts I didn’t realize I needed to work on to get there (sight-reading, aural skills, chordal arrangements). We quickly set up a lesson plan and goals geared towards getting me where I wanted to be. I was so happy with the results that I eagerly enrolled into his year-long “Apprenticeship Program”. This program allowed us to plan my curriculum and keep me on track (and I had a realistic practice schedule that I could stick with). Last year, I progressed so much that I decided to start my second year in the program. I’m really glad that I did!! One of several things that separates Bob from a lot of other instructors is his focus on his students. He always sticks to his commitment to making me a better guitarist and musician, even if that means giving me extra time when he has it. And with his 30+ years of experience as a teacher, he knows how to personalize my lessons in a way that works for me. I highly recommend him for people just starting out on guitar, bass, etc., or for those like me who just need a kick start to get out of a rut. I am reaching my goals to becoming an accomplished pro guitarist very soon. Tyler Schmitt Apprenticeship Program Guitar student with Bob Wolfman
Wanted to take piano lessons, so I called the owner, Kris, and he made me feel very confident and comfortable in going with his studio. Charlie, my piano teacher, is very good. He's attentive, patient, and most importantly challenges me. Great experience so far. Highly recommended.
Jonas has been teaching our daughter, Allison, for about 7 years. I can't begin to say enough about Jonas as a teacher, mentor and person. He has given Allison such confidence in herself and her music . . . Jonas always goes above and beyond - encouraging Allie to perform and write music, working 1 on 1 with her to record her music and getting her used to mics and sound systems. He has been a huge influence on Allison over the years . . .she truly looks to Jonas as one of the people she admires most in her life. We can't recommend Jonas' Guitar Lessons enough!
As a professional vocalist and professor of voice , I rarely take voice lessons myself. I went to Amy to brush up on my classical skills and I was floored with the progress I made in such a short time. I have TWO degrees in classical voice and none of my previous teachers had been able to rectify some of my problematic vowels. Amy gave me new exercises and concepts to play with that have helped me tremendously. I now use the exercises with my own students with great success. I also proudly send students to this studio when I am unable to teach. I highly recommend this studio for a high caliber of professional training from brilliant and experienced teachers.
I've been playing guitar for almost 30 years and I can honestly say that Josh is an amazing guitar teacher. If you are looking for the best guitar lessons in Taunton, Taunton Guitar Lessons is the place for you! Josh cares more about his students than anyone else, you would be very wise to invest in yourself by taking guitar lessons with him!
Frankie Price is an incredible music teacher. I have been learning guitar from him for a couple of years. Anything I want to learn he is able to provide. How to do guitar solos, how to write songs, etc. He can answer any question you have about music. He is always on time and is very friendly.
Adam is a great instructor who makes classical guitar a fun and approachable challenge. Adam uses actual pieces of music as a way to teach fundamentals while also building up your classical guitar repertoire.
Working with Janna has been such a wonderful experience, my son also started coming for lessons. I could not have asked for a better instructor or studio.
First and foremost, Georgios is an amazing guitar instructor (but read on, there is more to it). He helped me get to a great state in just two months, to a state that I couldn’t get in 15 years on my own. I have been playing WITH the guitar for around 15 years. And now I am starting to play THE guitar… Over the past decade I never got to where I wanted to, just causally played a fragment of a song, forgot the guitar for next 6 months and tried to get back to it… until the time I was able to discover a section of another song by ear. Then I would have something more important to do. The problem was that I never had a clear enough to walk. Georgios listened to me a lot. I told what can and cannot do and what I would like to do –and actualy these were what he wanted to find out before we started the classes. He planned a series of classes and “homework” to make a guitar player out of me (as much as I can be). We work once a week together, and I practice every day (even it is 10 mins –that is what he suggested –and it is a head-on advice). We work on everything, technique, getting clean sound, being on tempo, letter names, scales. But bit by bit and with just enough pressure. Never overwhelming, always enjoyable! I think I will keep working with him as much as I can (cannot foresee where/when we can run out of fuel). Last but not the least, Georgios is not only a guitar instructor, but he is a musician with two impressive degrees. And those degrees take nothing from his humbleness and friendliness. If you want a savvy and serious yet extremely friendly instructor, look no further.
Josh is a rare, excellent teacher. First, I would mention his huge knowledge of music and instruments. Since he plays the guitar and the piano in addition to the chapman stick, he can apply knowledge from one instrument to the other, creating helpful metaphors for the experienced student. As for the inexperienced student, like me, he knows how to break down huge, intimidating concepts into bite size portions. He effortlessly comes up with metaphors and similes that really shed light on a variety of topics. This guy is a top notch teacher. p.s. he's very patient too!
Heavily experimented and greatly theoretically grounded guitarist delivers very interesting lessons for those who desire to go beyond the basic "pop song" playing
