I have been singing all my life and I can assure you that Bulent is the best coach I ever had. On top of teaching great vocal techniques , he makes sure students understand the fundamentals of singing and how your body, mind and emotions have to be connected when singing . I just had 2 lessons with him,but I learned so much and my resonance is getting better.I love to hear myself sing now. I cannot wait to learn more from this mastermind. Definitely take him, best coach ever!!!!!!!!!!

As an adult learner with limited spare time (but a desire to become conversational in Spanish) I was looking for a tutor that would keep me accountable and help me progress in the language but also be enjoyable and easy to work with. The format of the lessons are great. While there is new material each lesson we also cover previously learned topics to help keep it fresh in my mind. I also feel as though I'm taught in such a way that the information really makes sense to me....the context is applicable and real life. I came in with a limited knowledge of Spanish but within a short time felt more confident and accomplished. New Way is also very organized and professional from a business standpoint....Gmail calendar invites for the classes keep things structured and I'm send additional material videos and homework to help Advance my learning. I highly recommend Alejandro and New Way!! Overall this has been an excellent time and financial investment for me!

I've studied guitar with Bertrand for one year. He is an exceptional teacher. He treats you as an unique individual, and the lessons are tailored for you. I have failed in learning how to play the guitar with several teachers in the past. Now, I am writing songs and playing the guitar again. This time I believe in myself and the power of songs. Sincerely, Limin

I was a voice student of Julie's for several years. In that time I grew in my skill and confidence as a singer. I learned how control my instrument, and event after the lessons ended, the impact carries on! She also helped me feel comfortable in many genres including country, blues and rock. Julie was always patient with me, even when I was being thick-headed. I always felt encouraged through by her teaching and mentoring. I can say with full confidence that I would not be the singer I am today without Julie!

I've really been enjoying my voice lessons with Amanda. In the past few months I've gained confidence and now have a lot of tools for warming up and protecting my voice, as well as dealing with performance anxiety. I'm pleased with my progress and vocal development and highly recommend studying with Amanda!

I was only able to sign up for 6 lessons with Emily before I move away, but in a short amount of time she was able to improve my voice, technique, confidence, and prepare me for the next level in my singing abilities.

Christie is nothing short of amazing. She is so professional and knowledgeable, and she's so understanding when it comes to life circumstances that may come up. I'm 25 years old and I've never formally taken a voice lesson before my lessons with Christie. I finally decided to give my talent some attention and I'm so glad I found Christie. She knows I'm an adult with a working life and a family, and she is very accommodating which is exactly what I was looking for. Having not received any music training in my life, Christie patiently went over all the basics with me and started teaching me from point zero.

She is the best! I am a cardiologist at Boston and our lessons during my lunch breaks are my sessions of meditation. The questionnaire (5 questions) that she gave me after our first meeting was brilliant. She understands me perfectly and she creates the greatest repertoire for me. After 6 months, I can say that we worked on anatomy, breathing techniques, singing quality, expanding my range, learning my voice and discovering my true voice with my favorite songs. Her professionalism put music to another level for me. I am having small gigs and enjoying being on stage!

I can't recommend Jacob highly enough. Not only is he a super nice guy, but he is an excellent teacher. He is patient, dedicated, and very talented. He really listened to what I wanted to get out of lessons, and catered his lesson plans to my desires and goals. He even put together some really helpful videos for me (on his own time)! so I could continue learning at my own pace. Jacob is also very flexible with scheduling. I couldn't be happier with my choice to higher him!

We weren’t sure our 6 year old son was ready to start piano lessons but we thought we would try it. Liana is so professional and treats him like a little grown up. As a result, he acts like a little adult with her and focuses on what she asks of him. In three months, he has learned the notes on the treble and bass clef, is learning the values of the notes and actually tinkers around at home with creating songs. I recommend giving Liana an opportunity to show you what she’s capable of teaching. To top it off, she is a very nice and kind woman.

My first guitar instructor was my dad back when I was about ten years old. Fast forward about thirty years to 2003 when I started talking guitar lessons from Steve. You learn more than playing a guitar with Steve. He teaches you how to read music and about music theory. You will appreciate other genres of music and maybe even a different instrument or two. I now have an mandolin and ukulele (along with a few guitars) that Steve is also teaching me hot to play. I started lessons with Steve on him and am glad that I did. It has been a wonderful experience learning more about music and how to play an instrument. And I owe Steve a great deal of thanks and credits for making this experience fun.

Ben is a wonderful teacher and already after two lessons I feel more connected to the instrument. Also, the lessons have inspired me to play more frequently at home and just enjoy my time making music. He might be more pricey than other teachers but I feel the price is fair for the quality of teaching.

Great guy, knows his stuff and will tailor his lessons to you. He recommended lowering the action on my guitar, after I got it done, it was much easier to play. I highly recommend him.

I have known Angela for six years and she is kind to her students and very patient. She is very knowledgeable about the piano and her students really enjoy her lessons. She works very hard to make sure that her students continue growing and learn to love the piano. i have enjoyed each lesson with her.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is CPR training?

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (better known as CPR) is a lifesaving manual technique that pumps oxygenated blood back into the body’s organs if someone’s heart or breathing has stopped. A variety of CPR training is available to community members, employees and healthcare providers. CPR training may last two to five hours or more, depending on the content and the target audience. During the training, students will learn how to recognize and respond to an emergency situation. There are different CPR techniques for adults and children, but with both you will learn how to determine whether the person is conscious before administering chest compression. During the training you’ll learn chest compression techniques for adults and different techniques for children between the ages of 1 and 8. Students learn how to properly administer chest compressions, when the technique is appropriate and when it is not, and how long you must perform rescue measures. Students also learn what an automatic external defibrillator (AED) is and how to use it if necessary to shock a patient before administering CPR chest compressions.

How do I become CPR and first aid certified?

You can earn CPR training and receive first aid certification in a number of ways. Choose an online course to learn the materials remotely and then find a testing location to complete the certification process with an in-person demonstration of your knowledge and skills. Encourage your workplace to host a first aid and CPR training so employees can learn what to do in case of a workplace emergency and how to respond with lifesaving techniques. You may also be able to take a CPR or first aid class in your community. A basic CPR training may run four to five hours. After receiving CPR training, you’ll know how to respond if an adult or a child goes into cardiac arrest or stops breathing. You’ll learn how to use chest compressions to keep blood pumping to a person’s organs, which can keep them alive until an emergency responder can arrive. First aid and CPR training can also include education about how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED).

What does a Spanish tutor do?

The goal of a Spanish tutor is to help students improve their Spanish reading, writing, comprehension, and conversation skills. The tutor’s approaches may vary, depending on whether the instruction is individual or a group class. Many Spanish tutors practice immersion — meaning they will speak only Spanish with their pupils. For students with little to no Spanish experience, the Spanish tutor may use a mix of Spanish and English to accustom their students to speaking the language.

A Spanish tutor can offer a wide range of services to their students. For students currently enrolled in a Spanish class through their middle school or high school, a Spanish tutor can help them with homework and language practice, as well as expanding their understanding of their current school curriculum. For adults, Spanish tutors will have different approaches based on that student’s need. Academics and those seeking high-level professional development for their career will often have more intensive and targeted lessons, drills, and interactive speaking tests. For adults who wish to learn conversational Spanish for fun or for travel, lessons may revolve around learning commonly used phrases and practicing speaking in relaxed settings.

What is first aid training?

With first aid training, you may be able to help save a life. First aid training can teach people who are not medical professionals how to help a sick or injured person in crisis before an ambulance arrives on the scene. Most commonly, first aid training helps teach you how to administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and use automated external defibrillators (AEDs).

First aid training can teach you how to respond in a variety of emergency situations, including:

  • Asthma attack
  • Anaphylaxis
  • Burns
  • Choking
  • Diabetic emergencies
  • External bleeding
  • Heart attack
  • Poisoning
  • Neck, head or back injury
  • Stroke
  • Seizure

First aid training classes may be offered by professionals who are affiliated with the Red Cross, which offers online, in-person, and blended training classes. First aid classes are also often offered through local recreation centers, city services, schools, hospitals and private companies.

What do you learn in a first aid course?

First aid training gives you a variety of lifesaving skills for responding to many different emergency situations. In a first aid course you’ll learn about how to examine someone who’s been hurt, how to use a defibrillator, how to administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and how to control bleeding and trauma. Some courses include pediatric first aid as well as adult first aid; helping a choking infant, for example, is different from helping a choking adult. Although you can take CPR and automated external defibrillator (AED) courses separately, most first aid training includes both.

In a first aid course you’ll also learn how to respond to:

  • Wounds, including punctures, cuts and hemorrhages
  • Heart attacks, chest pain and respiratory arrest
  • Bone fractures, sprains and torn muscles
  • First-, second- and third-degree burns
  • Poisoning
  • Choking
  • Bites and stings
  • Hypothermia or frostbite
  • Shock and seizures
