Wanderson and his team did a fantastic job with our fence. As we had just bought our house and the previous owners had let the yard go, this presented extra challenges for a fence installation. Despite this, Wanderson did a great job and charged us a very reasonable rate. We know this as we shopped around quite a bit, and they gave us by far the best price we were quoted. He was able to work us in quickly and completed the job in just a couple of days. Lastly, he was responsive to a request I made even after the job was completed. I highly recommend Wanderson and will certainly use him and his team in the future.

Maria has done light gardening for me one time and I was very satisfied with her work. She worked diligently for four hours in hot conditions. She did heavy weeding, trimming and bed cleanup. I have asked her to come on a biweekly basis, and I hope to take advantage of her other skills (floral arranging, holiday decorations) as well.

I highly recommend Autumn Farmer's Lawn and Garden Care for all your landscaping needs. Billy gave a detailed estimate for the landscaping I needed done. I found his quote was very reasonable. Billy and his employees are extremely hardworking, polite, and professional. The job was completed on time and I was extremely happy with the end result. Billy not only carefully listened to my ideas, but he also gave his own professional advice. This company went above and beyond my expectations! Autumn Farmer's Lawn and Garden Care is an excellent landscaping company and I will definitely use them again in the future.

I basically had dirt in my backyard. After a number of effort to plant plants and having zero success, I decided to hire a gardner (Russell). I gave him a basic idea of what I wanted and he made it happen. My garden is alive and looks amazing compared to what it was. I am very impressed with the expertise and knowledge Russell has when it comes to plants/gardening. His a really nice guy and easy to work with. I am very happy with the work he has done for me that I'm keeping him as my permanet gardener. Thanks Russell.

They did a great job. They far exceeded my expectations. The price was very fair. I actually thought the price quoted was too low given the quality of work, so I gave them extra. If you need landscaping done, hire Garden of Eden. The customer service provided was top notch as well.

I loved working with Marcia! She was very professional and a delight to have working on our landscape. She gave us a re-design of the front area of our house, as we wanted to remove our small plot of grass and put in a city garden type planting. She knew exactly what to do and worked quickly! She also has given me many tips on how to keep things up. Really a wonderful person to work with!

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to have landscaping done?

Professional landscaping can help reinvent your outdoor space, boost your curb appeal and get a major return on investment with. Landscaping can encompass anything from adding new plants, trees and shrubs, to leveling the ground and laying sod for a lawn, to building in hardscaping such as sidewalks, water features or retaining walls. The national average landscaping price is $10,160. Landscaping prices can be far lower (with hourly rates ranging from $50 to $150) if you’re only seeking professional help with softscaping or seeking consultation on landscape design. Softscaping means adding or changing horticultural elements, such as planting a garden or adding a hedge. Hardscaping is where costs can really start to rise. Hardscaping requires labor and heavy equipment to excavate the earth; you may need to pour concrete, or you may need a pro who can transport and place gravel and other inorganic elements. Your total landscaping cost will vary based on the amount of work you want done, how much labor is required, and the cost of the materials you are using. A good rule of thumb for a major landscaping project, according to the American Society of Landscape Architects, is to budget 5 percent to 10 percent of the value of your home.

How much does it cost to landscape your front yard?

Prices for landscaping your front yard can range from a few hundred dollars to tens of thousands of dollars, depending on the scale of your front yard project. Your landscaping price will reflect how much change you implement, how much labor is required, and the cost of materials.

Landscaping is typically made up of softscaping and hardscaping. Softscaping refers to selecting trees, bushes, flowers and plants to achieve a desired aesthetic and to meet goals such as having a drought-tolerant yard. Hardscaping refers to moving earth, installing structures, and putting in decorative stonework, sidewalks or lighting. For softscaping, you may want to hire a landscape designer to consult on your plants and layout, and then do the digging and planting yourself or hire a gardner to handle the heavy lifting. A landscape designer’s hourly rate may range from $50 to $150 or more. If you want a turnkey approach, meaning someone who works with you to create the vision and then executes all the work, landscaping pricing will typically come down to a cost per square foot rather than an hourly rate. It’s a solid investment: Great landscaping can add up to 28 percent value to your home.
