I hired First-Rate Moving to move some heavy exercise equipment and a bureau. While I felt they were a little expensive, Jay made a good point in that many underbid and then add on extra charges (they had to move the bike up a flight of 17 stairs). They used extreme care in making sure the equipment was VERY secure, and went over and above in my opinion to carry the exercise bike into my bedroom, vs rolling it, so as not to scratch the wood floor. Very personable. I would definitely recommend and hire them again. You won't be disappointed.
Dave did a great job setting up my bed frame. It was a very extensive and time consuming project. He was thorough and put the frame together perfectly even adding support tools where needed. Highly recommended.
Lance was very timely, professional, and did an excellent job assembling the Gold's Gym XRS 50 equipment.
Joe is very hard working and honest handyman. He was able to complete installing very hard to assemble swing set which came with poor instructions and also wooden pieces were not marked. He had very positive and get it done attitude throughout the project and never gave up. He made sure the swing set was safe and secure for the kids to play once done with installation. He was very patient to answer several of our questions.
My husband and I are thrilled with our new deck this spring! We had a smaller deck and we decided to extend it as well as make it a composition deck. Joe and Frank did a fantastic job.. They were professional, timely and kept it a very safe and clean work area for my kids to continue playing in the yard. Pricing was reasonable and there were no extra charges after starting the project. We highly recommend them to everyone we know and have already referred him to several neighbors who found my deck to be beautiful!
Recently Bob Kohn helped us to remodel our basement room (aka "the dogs' room) and the laundry room. They had been done in 1980's paneling and were dark, unattractive and depressing to be blunt. With some of Bob's recommendations and his talented craftsmanship these rooms are now bright, open and welcoming. Truthfully, they are too nice to keep as the dogs' room, but my canine friends will continue to live in the new airy space! We have also added some gym equipment to the room as we need makeovers too!!! Thanks Bob. Seriously, Bob is talented, extremely professional, and cleans up daily from his work better than I clean the house!! If you have a project, need ideas or suggestions, call him. I can assure you that you will be a truly satisfied customer, as I am!!
Genuis is defined as the ability to simplify the complicated. My experience is that Bruce is almost "psychic" in his intuitive ability to help you VISUALIZE YOUR PROJECT finished before it commences. A very impressive man, a rarity in these days.. He assists every which way as a builder, was an impressive presence as Supervisor of Maintence in Boston in his "school days," and even plays a mean Jazz guitar ! Always an exceptional Martial Artist since his interest began the 1970s , it is probable that his TAI CHI CHUAN experience, helped him develop a penetrating, powerful mind, making things happen in the real world, at a bargain to boot ! The truth be known he even has some fluency in foreign languages. The "MacGyver" of Construction Mgmt, BRUCE MONTVILLE stands for Quality and Quick Expert Solutions for anything you can throw at him... I have seen him in action...BRUCE ROCKS ! TURNAROUND time is on the NINJA level.
Phil was a professional and quick to respond from the very start. His price was reasonable and he did what he could to get the job done. I would have left him five stars but I had a weird driveway and he wasn't able to get everything after the last snow storm. He explained that he just didn't have the specialized equipment to take care of my unique driveway and offered $10 off his already low price without me even asking. I would definitely recommend him.
I purchased a home two years ago and needless to say there was a lot of work that needed to be done. Scott Arnold did some work for me throughout a period of six months to a year. Most of the work was upgrading and rehabbing the houses existing rooms and some cosmetic updates. He got right to it and was all business. He never gave the impression that he didnt know what direction to take to get the job done. The work was exceptional. He was professional and reviewed everything with me prior to starting and double checked with me that I was satisfied prior to completing the job. I had no issue leaving Scott in the house alone to do work and he was respectful of my private space. He was clean and kept his tools and equipment in order. I would recommend Scott Arnold for any job, of any size. He does top notch work and can be trusted.
They helped my family and I after a water damage from the heavy rains. We called them around 6:00am and by noon, they had removed the section of walls and ceiling that were going to collaps. Cleaned up, protected all of our belongings and setup drying equipment. Jose and his team were excellent!
Mike pressure washed my wooden deck to prepare it for staining. He arrived on time and with all the proper equipment to complete the job. The job was done in a timely manner and with excellent results. I will call him for future projects.
I hired john to install a mailbox post for me but I was unable to get the supplies, he offered to go get the supplies with me with his truck and installed it in less than 2 hours! I even used him the next day to mow my lawn! Recommended!
Bill arrived early Friday afternoon to go over the list of at least 10 chores I've been piling up for 2 years. This included tearing up and rebuilding my front porch and 3 door frames. He also rerouted my gutters and built shelving in my attic play room. to my surprise he started immediately and completed all the jobs in less than 2 1/2 days. Everything was professionally done. I will definitely hire him again.
James responded promptly every time I contacted him. While I was at work he stopped by my home to take measurements, picked up my Lowe's credit card to shop for materials, and returned to install the new door and storm door. He even let me dog out of his crate to play in the yard while Jim worked and he cleaned up all the dust from the installation. Jim will be coming back to install railings and stairs on the front of my house as well as a gutter. Definitely hire him!
Derreck showed up promptly, had the equipment on-sight to get the job done in an efficient and expedient manner. He is a good "handy man" when I needed an extra pair of hands. Thanks, Derreck!
They removed a rather large poured concrete patio and walkways. The process was great! The team that came out was friendly, knew what they were doing and were extra careful working around the foundation of the house which is always a concern when operating heavy equipment that close to the house.
I had a wonderful experience with 2 of Josh's employees. I had tried unsuccessfully to put together a 60" TV stand with 2 cabinet doors. Bob and Patrick arrived promptly at 9 AM and were done in one hour. They worked quickly and efficiently and even set up my TV, DVD player and cable equipment. Working with Kandice, who did the scheduling, was a pleasure. I will definitely use Joshua Tebou, Carpentry and Woodworking the next time I have a project. I highly recommend them.
Im a single guy that considers myself pretty organized but maybe over 20 years Ive let some things pile up. I always think Ill get to it, but I never seem to find time. What started this whole process with Halcyon Home was my record collection. I recently purchased a turntable so I went into my basement and started to pull LPs to play but they needed to be cleaned. I cleaned a few and they sounded great but got overwhelmed at the thought of cleaning my whole collection; I must have hundreds. I told a friend and they said that they worked with a woman recently that had helped organize their home and I should contact her. I called Halcyon Home and spoke with Courtney Watson, the owner. I explained my situation and she said she could clean and organize my records (however I liked; alphabetical or by genre), as well as archive them, making sure they were stored properly. She would make sure each album sleeve was in good shape or replaced, and then get the appropriate storage boxes. I was excited and relieved and we agreed on a fair hourly rate. It took a few days as each record had to be hand washed and dried. Courtney used the correct soap and special towels to dry each one, purchased new sleeves (some were missing, others were damaged by age and a basement flood I had a few years ago). She labeled each record and filed them alphabetically. I was not only impressed with the job she did with my record collection (we learned I had 297!), but I particularly appreciated the way she moved through my home with respect and the way she communicated her process and schedule. I was so happy we began to discuss other organizational projects that she could help me with. I have collected a lot of artwork in my travels, photographs before digital, books and lots of clothing. Working with Courtney has been great; shes smart as a whip, funny, respectful of my privacy and easy to work with. Im glad to be working with her and I have a great sense of accomplishment; even though shes doing all the work. I highly recommend Courtney and Halcyon Home.
Rich was very friendly, communicative, easy to work with. We had an excess of landscaping from previous owners and needed to convert it to plain lawn. Rich's crew came several days later than estimated, but still reasonably soon. He sent a stump grinder to remove 2 large stumps, then a bobcat came to dig everything up and haul away. Following that, he put in a few inches of loam, then his crew spread seed and lightly raked it in. Several thousand sq ft of lawn was done in about 3-4 hours. All done at a very reasonable price compared with other bids I entertained. And despite my grave doubts, some very hardy perennials did not grow back in large numbers after the bobcat scraped their tops off. I was quite skeptical that simply taking the top off perennials would kill them. Of course, repeated lawn mowing finished off whatever attempted to grow back. Here are some areas of improvement: 1. I believe the proper procedure after raking in the grass seed is to go over it with a roller, so the soil is somewhat compacted. Rich's crew did not do that and the next rainstorm washed quite a bit of the topsoil and seeds away. In fact, the loam was so soft any adult footstep on it left a deep imprint. 2. The loam was FULL of crabgrass seeds. First the regular lawn seeds sprouted, then the crabgrass took over. Next year I'll have to do aggressive crabgrass prevention. 3. It would have been nice to receive a followup phone call or even better, on-site inspection from Rich. That might have earned him additional business.
