Nothing short of mind blowing and life changing! If you are looking for a way to get your life and spiritual health back on track and want to work on becoming the best person you can be, then I highly suggest going to Richer Life Journey! Especially if you are stuck in a rut or feeling depressed, fatigued and desperate need of a jump start and guidance. I see Molly Ryan at the Richer Life Journey Center. I have a chronic illness, had been very fatigued and feeling really lost and depressed. Main stream medical has failed me so I wanted to try some less conventional types of treatments to see if I could at least get my energy up and centered. I didn't know to much about reiki other than it cleans up your energy and centers it. First off Molly is an amazing and gifted woman. She is compassionate and truly wants to help people. I go in there a mess and a scatter brain and leave feeling special, grounded and truly loved by her. I feel like I am important and I do count. That is a gift within itself . Not only is Molly a reiki master, but she is also a medium and intuitive healer. I had no clue what I was in for. I feel she is one of those gifted people you see on TV or read about. I have been getting the color and sound reiki sessions. It's over an hour long and in just a few minutes I am deeply relaxed. Buckets of stress wash away. Durring the sessions there are sounds and smells. I can physically feel a shift durring this time as spirit works through her. The more times I went the more I could "feel" durring the sessions. It was quite exciting and even more so when we discussed it together latter and found we shared similar experiences durring our time together. Equally important and impressive is the period after the session where she discusses with you what information she received from you and spirit. Yes she is very gifted and can tap into all of that. I actually tag on an extra half an hour of counseling also. I believe she may be a certified Councelor or has some sort of degree also. But durring the time after the session she explains what she saw as she worked with each individual chakra and if need be, things to be worked on and or adjusted in your life. This part of the session was mind blowing. She knew things about me that she could not have possibly known. Some of the things I did not even know or recognize at the time! For instance my inner voice is very negative twords myself and that certain things in my past regarding my family were still impacting me in a negative way. She not only points these things out to you but she also directs you to the begining point on working on them in a positive constructive way. I have to say that working with Molly helped me open up my eyes to a whole new world and with her help and loving direction she guided me to a point where I was able to work on myself and was able to achieve a level of inner happiness, peace and ballance. I looked at things differently and approached obstacles in a different manner. After just a few sessions I felt more grounded than I had in years. I understand myself more, have a plan and I feel a lot better and have more energy. Molly made me feel special and loved. She is a beautiful compassionate and gifted woman. Positive energy just radiates from her and through her tallent. She truly cares about you as an individual and has a calling to help people. With her gift and her big heart that is exactly what she does. I highly recommend Molly if you are looking to try reiki I can't recommend her enough and highly recommend doing the extra counceling session at the end to go over the session thoroughly and to gain her experienced insight and guidance. Meeting and working with Molly has been a life altering experience for me and I feel a closeness to her and consider her my mentor, my shaman and my friend. She helped me find myself again and to no longer be defined by my illness. Stacey Carbary

I was ready to honestly look at/into myself. I knew I had something(s) blocking my full potential. I was determined to untangle all the experiences and complications and learned emotional reactions that were limiting and in some ways paralyzing me. I wanted to be the best me possible. If you are ready to live in truth, Judy Silvan is the perfect guide for that expedition into yourself. -Joseph, 11/15/2015.

I specialize in helping individuals and couples with life decisions and also moving out of uncomfortable or disheartening situations. I help them to find their direction in life to make it more meaningful, to improve their relationships, to achieve a better balance, and to gain clarity in figuring out the next steps. My "from-feelings-to-actions" program will show you what you have to do to find inner guidance and a more fulfilling life. In each session, we will figure out what you can do in your daily life to feel better. There is a specific plan of action. It's different from what you usually do, but consistent with what we are discovering about you and what you want. I'll teach you to "read" the messages that your feelings are sending to you, and I'll gently push you and support you through your new and exciting journey. You're going to love to explore new territories in your life and discover what you really want. These apply for both individuals and couples. My clients constantly tell me they feel confident from knowing that they're always on the right track, or that they will find it if they get lost again. After working through my program, they've developed skills to go beyond their fears and unpleasant feelings and get the life and relationship they want. Getting the life and relationships I wanted has always been my main motivation. Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a psychologist?

A psychologist is a professionally trained mental health professional who helps patients navigate challenging life situations or mental health issues. To become a psychologist you must earn a doctoral degree; qualifying degrees include a Ph.D., Psy.D. or Ed.D. To actively practice, a psychologist must be licensed in their state and maintain good standing. Psychologists are trained to administer tests that can evaluate a patient’s cognitive strength and weaknesses, intellectual skills, vocational aptitude and preference, personality characteristics, and neuropsychological functioning, explains the American Psychological Association (APA).

A psychologist meets with patients in an office and may work with a variety of methods, depending on patient need, such as cognitive, behavioral or interpersonal.  According to the APA, common reasons a person may visit a psychologist include:

  • Dealing with depression, anger or anxiety over a long period of time.
  • Help with a chronic condition that is interfering with their lives or physical health.
  • Help with grieving and other abrupt transitions.
  • Overcoming addictions.
  • Managing chronic illness.
  • Breaking old and harmful patterns of thinking or behavior.

What are the types of psychologists?

Psychologists are healthcare professionals who use scientific methods to understand the relationships between the brain, environment and behavior. Psychologists may focus on research — studying how the brain and various environments drive behaviors to better understand the issues that trouble patients and society as a whole — or they may focus on practice — interacting with people using therapeutic methods. The American Psychological Association shares some of the more prevalent types of psychologists:

  • Clinical psychologists assess and treat mental, emotional and behavioral disorders.
  • Cognitive and perceptual psychologists study human perception, thinking and memory.
  • Community psychologists work to strengthen the abilities of communities, settings, organizations and broader social systems to meet people’s needs — such as improving support for victims of natural disasters, or working to improve health policies.
  • Counseling psychologists help people understand and take action on everyday issues, career and work problems, and serious adversity.
  • Developmental psychologists study the psychological development of the human being throughout life.
  • Educational psychologists concentrate on how effective teaching and learning take place.
  • Engineering psychologists conduct research on how people work best with machines.
  • Environmental psychologists study the dynamics of how people interact with their environments.
  • Evolutionary psychologists study how evolutionary principles such as mutation, adaptation and selective fitness influence human thought, feeling and behavior.
  • Experimental psychologists study cognitive processes, comparative psychology (cross-species comparisons), and learning and conditioning.
  • Forensic psychologists apply psychological principles to legal issues.
  • Health psychologists specialize in how biological, psychological and social factors affect health and illness.
  • Industrial/organizational psychologists apply psychological principles and research methods to the workplace to improve productivity, health and the quality of work life.
  • Neuropsychologists and behavioral neuropsychologists explore the relationships between brain systems and behavior.
  • Quantitative and measurement psychologists focus on methods and techniques for designing experiments and analyzing psychological data.
  • Rehabilitation psychologists work with stroke and accident victims, people with mental disabilities, and those with developmental disabilities caused by such conditions as cerebral palsy, epilepsy and autism.
  • School psychologists assess and counsel students, consult with parents and school staff, and conduct behavioral interventions when appropriate.
  • Social psychologists study how a person’s mental life and behavior are shaped by interactions with other people.
  • Sport psychologists help athletes refine their focus on competition goals, become more motivated, and learn to deal with anxiety and fear of failure around competition.

How much do therapists cost?

If you are experiencing a challenging time, have mental health difficulties, or just want professional guidance as you move through life, a therapist can provide relief, tools and structure. The national average cost for a therapist is $80-$100 per hour, although prices may be higher or lower depending on geographic location and the experience and training of the therapist.

Psychiatrists, psychologists and licensed therapists are all health professionals who offer various modalities of therapy. Ask questions about the type of therapy they specialize in (such as cognitive or behavioral, etc.) and their area of expertise (such as grief, anxiety, body image disorders, etc.) to help you find the right fit for your needs. Therapy sessions are typically 50-60 minutes long.  The patient usually meets with the therapist in their office; sessions may also be held remotely (via Skype, etc.) or in a clinical setting. Psychologists, psychiatrists and other therapists who have earned advanced degrees will typically charge higher rates than other licensed therapists. Depending on your diagnosis, your health insurance may cover your therapy costs.

Can a clinical psychologist write prescriptions?

To be able to write a prescription, a clinical psychologist must practice in a state that permits them to do so, and must either have a master’s degree in psychopharmacology or have completed the required advanced training program. According to the American Psychological Association (APA), five states currently permit psychologists to write prescriptions: Idaho, New Mexico, Illinois, Iowa and Louisiana. Many psychologists who are not able to write prescriptions work in partnership with psychiatrists, pediatricians or primary care doctors to help their patients who need medication.
