- How did you get started doing this type of work?I first started learning about nutrition, exercise, and bodywork when I found that my own health was unsatisfactory. It quickly became my passion as I discovered that through knowledge and its application I had the power to change my life. I spent four years in college acquiring my degree in food & nutrition to help better understand diet. It was during this time I began helping others with their goals, and the feeling of helping others became another obsession. I went onto acquiring my personal training license and have been training the past 4 years in conjunction with my degree to help my clients with their fitness and health goals. I have recently finished massage therapy classes, and look forward to further improving my services so I may help my clients the best I can.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?Health and fitness isn't just about exercise. Have you ever heard, "You can't outrun a bad diet?" Well it's true. If you're trainer focuses only on your exercise regiment, you will see little result. Your trainer should focus on finding ways to adapt his/her program to your life. And not fitting you to their program. If they're pushing crazy diets onto you before they even listen to the lifestyle you envision to live while trying to obtain your goal, you should look elsewhere. Follow me here: If you're looking to grow a business wouldn't you track your expenses, earnings, & how much you're working? The trainer should do the same for you. If she/he is not writing down anything about your performance to track it, how will she/he know what you should do for your next session? I doubt that a trainer who doesn't write anything will know off the top of their head how many reps, sets, Duration between sets, what weight performed, or even exercises you performed. What get measured, gets improved.
