Personal Chef

First time hiring a private chef and the experience with Stevie was amazing!!!!! Food was sooo good! A must hire! Here are few pics of the food below. Also Stevie you was wonderful, very professional and super sweet.

Stevie was from the start like a best friend I always had he’s incredibly knowledgeable and unlike most, he actually takes the tool the time to get to know me a d my lifestyle and had great pointers on small changes with big impact I didn’t even consider before. I’m a foodie but when entertains I often find myself having to cater to gluten free, vegan, and lactose intolerant guests so he immediatelygave me tips to satisfy everyone’s needs and not skimp out on all the yummy yum yums. He’s a bit of a maverick and also designs some really cool stuff. If you haven’t checked his insta out you should, he’s kind of a big deal in the fashion world. Not that I know what’s fashionable but if it’s good enough for Beyoncé and lady Gaga he’s gotta be on to something . Check @sbshades out on ig but definitely enjoy all the yummy yum yums.!!!!!

Stevie is a wizard in the kitchen, I had the beautiful opportunity for Stevie to make dinner for me and my wife. The standout hit was his Mac and cheese which was cheesy but moist and the taste was out of this world. I would definitely recommend Stevie to chef it up in your kitchen or a kitchen near you ASAP!

We were excited to choose Stevie as a chef to cook a vegan meal for our very special bride-to-be. He is upbeat, confident, and seemed to have experience cooking vegan food, which was important for our occasion. My friend and I both played a part in creating a menu with Stevie. My friend was the plant-based expert and I was there more as a project manager since I was the one to find the chef. I specifically asked to keep us both on all forms of communication, which unfortunately wasn’t the case. It’s 2021- there’s no good enough reason for a professional to not understand the concept of “reply all.” Stevie from the jump asked if I had anything in mind to cook for his tapas style dinner. I gave him all sorts of suggestions that he seemed to be confident with. When we started designing the menu he started including things we never even discussed, but we were open to the suggestions. Once we narrowed down the menu we asked for an ingredients list for each dish to be served. Instead of answering them the first time, he just said “sounds good” and then started typing a new sentence but didn’t finish the sentence before pressing send. It felt very unprofessional. Then, at one point when we requested cashew cream sauce as a substitute to vegan cheese he told us he would have to try and find a sauce or make it from scratch which would require an up charge….we thought the entire point of hiring a private chef was to be cooked a delicious meal from scratch, not to source a pre-made sauce. When we asked what the charge would be he said it would be $30 extra (that’s robbery. The ingredients for such a sauce doesn’t cost anywhere near that). As one of the many times where one of us was left off an email, he had told my friend he would make the sauce free of charge, but then shortly after told me otherwise. Once we confirmed which it was, he said there would be a charge. Once again- where’s the professionalism? Don’t say one thing and then go back on your word. This was just the beginning to a bad ending. Stevie promised us fresh vegetables from his garden and homemade breads. We were disappointed when he started to unpack his bags to find packaged bread, pita, and even vegetables. Though, when he shared with us he lived in a 3rd story condo we were a little suspicious as to where his home garden is. The most offensive ingredient he brought to cook our vegan meal with, though, was DAIRY YOGURT. Now come on!! He claimed his friend read all of the ingredients to make sure it was vegan. I want to believe it was an accident but he didn’t seem to comprehend that non-fat yogurt still contained dairy. At this point we truly were starting to feel scammed but we wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt. As our group got ready to enjoy our meal and night out, we left Stevie to it and just hoped our money was well spent….but then he asked us if we had a blender, and we continued to realize he has no clue what he’s doing. You’re a chef. Come prepared with the necessary tools…it wasn’t even our house we were staying at. Luckily we brought a blender for the weekend that we were happy to lend to Stevie. *It’s important to know all dishes were served on plastic with plastic utensils* As we returned back downstairs we were greeted with amazing aromas from the kitchen. A good sign, for sure! Before every dish was served, Stevie would let us know he had never tried the majority of the food he made us, which was concerning. At least fake it til you make it, like you did when we hired you!!! First came out an arugula salad- which was never included in the menu. It should have been a cucumber salad. Regardless, it tasted good- it’s just the principal behind it that was frustrating. Then he served us grocery store bought pita with an incredible hummus….so incredible it had me questioning if he made it. He did bring it in what seemed to be a salad bar container. Next, we were served bbq jackfruit sandwiches piled on sliced, bagged sandwich bread, which we were told to be on mini buns. Our group included 8 people but we were only served 7 sandwiches. After much time of analyzing our disappointing meal, I came to the realization that the reason we were one short was the result of not purchasing enough loaves of bread…..anybody else irked yet by the many unforgivable mistakes, thus far? And to think…there are more. The next dish had to be the most horrifying of them all. Disclaimer- isn’t it like an unspoken rule as a professional chef to not use a microwave? Throughout this experience, I think I heard the microwave go off at least 3 times. Out from the microwave comes our falafel balls with forks stuck in them…MELTED FORKS. I’m sorry….but who in their right mind would serve anything with melted plastic?! If this was a restaurant and management was involved I’d assume you’d be fired on the spot for not only making the mistake but continue to serve the dish. Photo attached. While it looks cool, it’s horrifying to know our bodies have been exposed to the chemicals of melted plastic. But what were we to do in the moment? Ruin a fabulous weekend by creating an awkward situation? No, of course not. Following the falafel we were supposed to be served potato skins (photo attached) and what we got was half-cooked roasted potatoes with a sliver of vegan cheese. We were promised skins topped with the scooped mashed potatoes mixed with chives and scallion. Not even the cashew sauce we requested was drizzled on top- instead it was served on the side, which is fine. But what isn’t fine is that he claims he made one of the smoothest hummus dips I’ve ever tasted, but is unable to successfully make a cashew sauce which just takes about 5 minutes of heavy blending combined with water and lemon juice to make. The unfortunate part is, he “prepped” most of the food and for that reason it is so hard to determine what was home made and what was possibly purchased from the store. It’s just the insane inconsistencies that have us questioning, practically, our entire meal. Dishes that weren’t totally disappointing or mentioned included: an elote bowl- though it didn’t include all the fixings he told us he would include, as well as a peach crisp for dessert which was made with canned peaches. Sad, considering it’s peach season….why not fresh peaches? We were expecting a proper private dining experience but instead we were delivered the wrong order from DoorDash, or that’s at least how it felt. While I’m sure Stevie has many staple dishes he has perfected, he has a long way to go as a personal chef. Unfortunately, I would never hire him again as this experience was a nightmare. We are not the type to not pay as promised but my friend and I do regret not requesting money back or at least giving a more experience-worthy tip. I truly feel like my group was scammed.

    My pricing is valued mostly on the natural ingredients I use. I love to tell my customers exactly why my prices and discounts are as follows. I work with them regardless their budget in order to be clear on the overall experience.

    I love to introduce myself as a composer of food. This means I create amongst the customer to find exactly what they prefer when it comes to their wishes and overall goals within the dish. I love presentation, as we know you eat with your eyes first!

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

    I have been trained by many chefs in the celebrity and culinary industry. I have worked amongst great chefs and I watch at least ten cooking tutorials daily to keep my craft strong.
