I have used Alvin Smithson's services for over five years as a piano tuner, teacher and performer. I am always impressed with his skills, artistry and professionalism. Alvin first came to tune my 100-years old Steinway after it had been neglected for a number of years. He first examined the instrument, diagnosed what needed to be done and then proceeded with his expert tuning. Immediately after he was done and started playing, I was amazed at how good the piano sounded. Alvin explained that with a piano that hasn't been tuned or played in so many years, it will take some time to achieve its best form and sound for which it was built. A short time after, my wife started taking piano lessons from Alvin and as she started gaining proficiency in playing under his guidance, the piano itself gained a rich pleasing sound. Alvin paid close attention and adjusted notes or did a full tuning whenever needed. He also took the time to clean the strings and do minor technical adjustments. When a string needed to be replaced, Alvin recommended a technician from a highly reputable company. Overall, we owe it to his expertise to have the wonderful old piano do what it was built for by the Steinway masters. I should also mention that I heard some great musicians at venues where Alvin is the regular piano tuner. People who visit our house and hear our piano, or play it themselves, always compliment its sound. But the best comes when Alvin himself sits at the keyboard, whether at our house, at a social function or performing in the theater, it's such a joy to hear him play some great classical pieces as well as his own wonderful compositions. He is truly a very talented, sensitive and highly knowledgeable artist. And such a pleasant person, too. My wife and I feel fortunate to have Alvin give us the best piano sound to enjoy live music in our home. I would recommend him to anyone as piano tuner, teacher and overall musician.

Tona is an excellent voice teacher -- my son's range has expanded an octave in just 5 lessons and he is singing with much more confidence. The price is reasonable.

I am both shocked(!) and incredibly happy with how my voice has improved since I started voice lessons with Barbara just a matter of months ago. Tone, range, everything. She is truly an amazing teacher and a lovely person. And as a bonus, you will never have as much fun at a music lesson as you will with Barbara! Very, very highly recommended!

Brett is very knowledgeable about the guitar as well as music in general. He explains in understandable terms and analogies, and makes it fun. While he is just starting out in his new studio, he is very organized. And for one on one lessons he charges a reasonable fee.

Ms. Nicole Lamm was my very first voice teacher. I started taking voice lessons with her at about age 13, and continued for over 5 years, for all of 8th-12th grades. Being at the most beginning stages of singing, Nicole not only introduced me to a genre of music that I never thought I would sing, but that I would easily fall in love with. She brought me from an inexperienced child to a young lady, preparing me and instilling in me musicianship, work ethic and and a passion for classical music, including art song, musical theater and opera. Her teachings are affective for anyone, young or old, beginner or professional. Because of her patience and time spent with me all those years, I have been singing for over 10 and am continuing my studies as an opera singer, a career that began with her and will last a lifetime.

Caitlin Budny has been my voice teacher for the past 2 years. With her expert guidance and professional experience I grew and continue to grow not only as a singer but as a performer. She challenges students to explore not only the nuances of the music, but also the depth of the character they are portraying. She genuinely loves to teach and that comes across in her total investment in her students' budding careers. Any singer would be privileged to work with Caitlin.

Mr. Walls is an enthusiastic and patient teacher. As a choir member at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton for the past fifteen years, I have been able to sing liturgical music, and participate with other choirs in singing more complex pieces of music, such as requiems and compositions for rites of the church and special occasions. Our choir has sung in various languages, and joined other choirs in ecumenical choir fests. Mr. Walls has studied music composition, conducting, and history, and is an accomplished musician on several instruments, including the piano, organ, and guitar. He has several years teaching experience in the U.S. and abroad. I would say Mr. Walls' expertise and talent are second to none.

I took voice lessons from Diane and specifically wanted to specialize in jazz. I learned techniques from her that no one had ever taught me that have helped me be a better vocalist with more projection and power. Diane is amazing at what age does and she knows what she's doing! I'm grateful for my time with her when she and I were in Los Angeles!

Annie was one of the kindest teachers I've ever worked with, giving me constructive criticism in a positive way instead of trying to "scare" me into doing it better or differently. She was always open to working on new repertoire and gave me some good suggestions from her own life experience. She knew my voice type and what I was and wasn't capable of, and always pushed me beyond what I thought was even possible for me. She made sure to warm me up appropriately every time. She was also very flexible when I would get sick or things would come up, and always made sure that we got all of our make up lessons in. I would continue to work with her if I hadn't moved to another state!

Judy is an excellent voice teacher and I highly recommend Burke Studios to anyone looking to achieve their musical goals! Judy strikes the perfect balance between being personable and professional. She helped me get outside of my comfort zone, increase my classical repertoire, and prepared me for an a cappella auditions through pop music. The vocal technique that I learned from Dorothy Miller completely transformed my voice and my career as a singer. Dorothy’s teaching focuses on the implications of classical, consistent technique within all different styles of music. Voice lessons with Dorothy combine this teaching of safe, anchored singing while exploring the exciting world of performance and audition repertoire. For me, I started working with Dorothy at the age of 12. I had been singing my whole life, but my throat was constantly sore and I had no access to higher ranges. In my 6 years of study with her, I was able to expand my range and vocal versatility, lay down a firm technique and develop a passion for new types of music. Dorothy works to develop an authentic, individual relationship with each student, and over the years I can genuinely say she has become like a second mother to me. She additionally helped me to navigate and prepare for the college audition process, and I completely credit her in my acceptance to the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University!
