Paul is a great teacher. He makes sure that the lesson is suited to you, and spends time outside of your lesson learning the music you want to learn. I started with Paul as a complete beginner, and have learned a ton from him in the past couple of years. If you're looking to learn simple or advanced guitar picking, grips, and anything else, Paul is your guy!
p.s. He is incredibly flexible about lesson times!

I started taking guitar lessons with Paul after having stopped instruction 5 years before. I found the lessons engaging and relevant as he invites you to explore your areas of interest while instilling the fundamental tools necessary for any musician. These included progressions that allow the greenest to pick up and play along with friends, and the development of essential play by ear skills. Paul was also extremely flexible with scheduling, in addition to coming to my residence. He also charged very reasonably for each lesson.

I went to Paul because although I had been playing folk songs for years I had always had a hankering to learn something a little more jazzy and complicated. Paul was perfect. The breadth of Paul's understanding of guitar styles and music theory is astounding. He is very happy to fit his lessons to the interests of the student and his creativity and patience are endless, so he is an ideal teacher for both novice and experienced students.

I had Paul as a middle school music teacher. He put learning music in a new creative and fun light. Personally, he helped me realize that I wasn't reaching my full potential on guitar, and helped me make that jump from a guitarist to a musician.

Paul is a truly excellent teacher. He's funny, charismatic, enormously talented, and possesses a strange balance of easy-going intensity. His patience, encouragement, and willingness/eagerness to structure lessons around whatever material and/or style a student is interested in (whether it's Dylan or Bauhaus) make him uniquely suited to younger (teenage) students. Had I not met Paul, as a frustrated beginner-student, I believe that I'd have given up on the guitar. I've now been playing for over fifteen years. It's an integral part of my life.
