I needed someone to aerate, fertilize and overseed the lawn. David showed up the same day around 7pm and looked around and recommended double aerate, fertilization with 80lbs or organic fertilizer and seeding. I got a few quotes and his price was good in comparison. I hired him and his crew was here on Sunday and quickly did the job. Now I need to wait a few weeks to see the lawn grow in the bare spots.

No Days Off has been servicing our new home's lawn for about two months. Started with a good spring cleaning, leaf removal and bed mulching, fertilization and now regular lawn mowing. Our lawn is the best on the block! We've seen our neighbors get their lawns treated and trimmed, but none to the same degree as ours. They are timely, meticulous, and thorough! They always clean up any trimmings and yard waste after, which is a big differentiator from competitors. Plus they are professional, easy to communicate with, responsive and competitively priced! Hire them. You will not regret it.

Great job, done quickly and at a reasonable price. Not knowing anything about gardening, I asked P&P to select and plant everything in my little yard. It all looks great. Super happy with the work.

We hired Homeland Lawn Care and Home Services (Kris Baker, owner) for a winter cleanup up of our lawn. Kris responded promplty and was very courteous and professional. The project included trimming all bushes and trees, cleaning and landscaping of all garden beds, applying fresh mulch and removal of all debris. They did a beautiful job and now our garden beds are ready for spring planting. Unfortunately we can't post any photos right now because it snowed the day after the work was completed. I highly recommend Homeland Lawn Care and Home Services.

Jamie & Dan were easy to get in touch with. Jamie offered many great ideas for the design of my front flower beds and I went with one idea of shaping the beds and love it! Also gave me many options/quotes for the big project itself. In the end, I had them rip up all the old shrubs and trees then til, shape, and edge it. Two day job. I then got all the products (garden soil, mulch, plants etc.) and finished it myself (I preferred it this way). They even offered to help plant when I got everything! There was a tiny bit of miscommunication & a day of no-show but doesn't cloud the fact that I'm sooooooo happy that I have my "curb appeal" gardens :) Thanks Jamie & Dan!

Francisco and his team were truly excellent and exceptional. They weeded a large yard (almost two acres), planted several perennials, shrubs and trees, and put down mulch. They were highly professional, punctual and responsive to my needs. My yard looked incredibly better. I would definitely use them again. A real pleasure to do business with them.

We hired Montez to clean up all our gardens, weedwhack some overgrown areas, and mulch everything so it looked nice. He exceeded our expectations at a very reasonable price. Montez was very professional, very respectful, and cleaned up all the debris from the job. We were extremely happy with his service and plan to use him again. We also recommended him to my father, who is also using him for similar work. Don't hesitate to give Montez a call, it's definitely worth it! Thanks, Montez!

My experience with Raul & Lawn Care Pro was excellent. We met and discussed my ideas, he provided information and options on how the garden would look and responded to my feedback. The quality of the work was top notched and the entire job was completed within a week or so. Raul was professional, enthusiastic, and answered all my questions, even the ones that were repetitive. I have recommended him to family and would happily serve as a reference.

Darlene was sent to us as an angel out of heaven. We needed to water our garden for the next several weeks until our irrigation system is installed. None of the Max-sellers or Poorly-staffed-boys in the neighborhood came through for us. We were tearing our hair out! Not only does she water but she has a green thumb and is bringing vim, vigor and vitality...not to mention color....to our garden! Like a leprechaun she brings magic with her handy hose and trowel. Weeds and evil not so dandy lions: you’re on notice! Go, indeed, Darlene Waters!!!!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to have landscaping done?

Professional landscaping can help reinvent your outdoor space, boost your curb appeal and get a major return on investment with. Landscaping can encompass anything from adding new plants, trees and shrubs, to leveling the ground and laying sod for a lawn, to building in hardscaping such as sidewalks, water features or retaining walls. The national average landscaping price is $10,160. Landscaping prices can be far lower (with hourly rates ranging from $50 to $150) if you’re only seeking professional help with softscaping or seeking consultation on landscape design. Softscaping means adding or changing horticultural elements, such as planting a garden or adding a hedge. Hardscaping is where costs can really start to rise. Hardscaping requires labor and heavy equipment to excavate the earth; you may need to pour concrete, or you may need a pro who can transport and place gravel and other inorganic elements. Your total landscaping cost will vary based on the amount of work you want done, how much labor is required, and the cost of the materials you are using. A good rule of thumb for a major landscaping project, according to the American Society of Landscape Architects, is to budget 5 percent to 10 percent of the value of your home.

How much does it cost to landscape your front yard?

Prices for landscaping your front yard can range from a few hundred dollars to tens of thousands of dollars, depending on the scale of your front yard project. Your landscaping price will reflect how much change you implement, how much labor is required, and the cost of materials.

Landscaping is typically made up of softscaping and hardscaping. Softscaping refers to selecting trees, bushes, flowers and plants to achieve a desired aesthetic and to meet goals such as having a drought-tolerant yard. Hardscaping refers to moving earth, installing structures, and putting in decorative stonework, sidewalks or lighting. For softscaping, you may want to hire a landscape designer to consult on your plants and layout, and then do the digging and planting yourself or hire a gardner to handle the heavy lifting. A landscape designer’s hourly rate may range from $50 to $150 or more. If you want a turnkey approach, meaning someone who works with you to create the vision and then executes all the work, landscaping pricing will typically come down to a cost per square foot rather than an hourly rate. It’s a solid investment: Great landscaping can add up to 28 percent value to your home.
