Starcleaning came out and power washed siding, patio, deck, walkway and stairs. They did an outstanding job and would recommend them to anyone in need of power washing services. They were on time, very professional and took pride in the job they did.

Response time was quick and efficient. Had this crew out to power wash house and clean the garage. The previous contractors left my garage a complete waste dump for out kitchen remodel and Eds team came in and cleaned it up without hesitation.

I totally recommend Briggs professionals for your next job. I found this site and place a request for a quote to pressure wash my house, the price was affordable, the work was scheduled the same day and beautifully completed. This was all done over 3 hours after finding this site, amazing! Briggs even pressure washed my back deck for a discounted rate, since they were already washing the house. I plan to schedule Briggs for more work that I need done. Great company!!

We were very happy with the outcome of the cleaning services, the house was great! However, they had initially told us 11am and we had plans shortly after. So I called and they said they were running late. They ended coming at about 12:30-12:45 which was frustrating. But they did a good job.

Green Mop has been providing cleaning services for me and my family for the last 3+ years. They've done a great job--especially since I've got two young boys, and we are not the neatest family on the face of the planet. The house is always neat, clean and a total relief when I walk in the door on cleaning day. For years, their teams have worked around children's naptimes and the arrival of company. They are always pleasant and flexible with changed dates and times. Highly recommended.

I give Jose Gonzalez and his team top marks. The paint job they did on the interior of my home (three stories, 4 bedrooms and 3.5 baths) and exterior front entrance was outstanding and exceeded my expectations. Replacement of the front storm door and locks on two exterior doors was also excellent, as was staining of my deck, repair to a piece of siding, complete interior house cleaning, and shampooing of all carpets. Their attention to detail was phenomenal. Not only was the paint job fantastic, but they took great care in ensuring there was no errant paint on floors/carpet, etc. Jose took great pains to ensure all work was perfect. When he was not satisfied about an aspect of the job, he had it redone until it met his demanding standards and I was completely satisfied. In order to compete the job within the allotted time, Jose and his crew worked long hours. Thanks to Jose and his team, my house never looked so good and I am confident that it will be sold quickly at a premium price. Jose and Brandon have my highest recommendation for any home repair/painting project; if Jose says they can do it, be assured that it will be done to the highest standards and completed on time.

We hired Erick's service for deep cleaning our house prior to listing it for sale. Previous experiences with other cleaning services have been hit or miss so we were a bit anxious, given that a good cleaning job is really important for the house to show well for sale. I cannot praise Erick's team of two women (his family in part) enough for the cleaning job they did in our house. I will give you specific examples which portray their exceptional work - 1. we recently touched up paint on the walls and a few drops probably spilled on the floor. His crew went down on the floor to scrub minute drops off while vacuuming/mopping our hardwood floor; 2. They took out the glass receptacles off the light fixtures and washed them to make them appear new (and they never were so clean when we lived in the house!). 3. They opened the windows and dusted and wiped off dirt from the outside of the window. 4. Bathrooms and kitchen with granite counter top were spotless and shiny! We believe the house shows very well to make the best impression for potential buyers. I will strongly recommend Erick and his team for cleaning services, and actually like the fact that it is a small, family run venture as opposed to the large scale cleaning services. SLV

Lea's Cleaning Company was on time for the service. They brought a crew of three (3) to clean my home. I believe they did quality work for the first time however there are a few things I would change a few things in the details of providing cleaning services. This morning I found out they left my shower in the upward position causing the wall to get wet when I was getting ready. They also mistook the top faux cabinet drawers and shifted them which exposed the sink. Most people would place it back to recover. Lastly although they remove items to clean surfaces I would recommend they at minimum place them back in a similar order to which they were found. I now need to reorganize my dressers and nightstands. All I think are fixable with conversation. I would recommend them and will try them again.

Jesse and his team were great. He’s a great communicator and true to his word. He made my siding look brand new and at the end of the day, my wife was happy with the results and that’s all that mattered. I’ll be using him going forward and I highly recommend him.

Overall, I was pleased with the work. He showed up when he said he would, and cut all the areas I requested to my specifications. (And I was pretty demanding with what needed to be done.) There was a little issue with cleaning up the front flower beds, but he offered to come fix it. I would still (and plan to) hire him again.

Francisco was responsive, professional, and did a fantastic job on short notice. He even cleaned up in the alley behind the house near the job site. Not too many others would have been so thorough. Very pleased and would use him again.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Why is it important to clean your gutters?

Rain gutters, those easily-forgotten trenches that hang off the edge of your roof, protect your roof, walls and foundation from excess rainwater. When they get clogged with leaves, sticks and other wind-blown debris, they can no longer direct water away from your walls and foundation, and may become homes for pests and insects. They also become heavy enough to pull away from the house, preventing proper rainwater drainage and spoiling the appearance of your home. Experts recommend inspecting and cleaning your gutters twice a year, once in spring and once in fall, as part of your regular landscaping schedule. Gutter cleaning and maintenance is a fairly easy DIY job for some homeowners, especially on one-story homes. However, professional gutter cleaners have ladders tall enough to safely reach rain gutters, as well as the necessary tools to clean out the downspouts. Most gutter cleaning professionals can also make any necessary quick repairs.

Can a roof be cleaned?

Yes roofs can be cleaned, and yes, it’s a real thing. Roof cleaning may actually be a wise investment to prolong the life of your roof. Overgrowth of moss, grime, lichen or algae can all shorten the life of your roof. If you have black streaks growing on your roof, they are likely caused by gloeocapsa magma algae spores that have landed on your roof and taken up residence. Once the algae has grown into streaks, the organism has usually been growing for several months and it’s high time to have it removed. If you live in a rainy part of the country, such as the Pacific Northwest, there’s a good chance you’ll find moss growing on your roof at some point. The northern part of your roof, as well as any parts that remain shaded all day, will provide a wet, cool haven for moss to flourish. Unfortunately this water-absorbing moss can damage your shingle roof, leading to rot if not removed. Beyond roof health and function, a clean roof can boost your curb appeal and potentially boost your home’s resale value. The national average for roof cleaning costs ranges between $270 and $350, although prices can be higher depending on how large your roof is, how steep your roof is, and what type of cleaning is necessary. Typically pros use either a pressure wash or chemical wash (made with a concentrated bleach solution) to remove algae, lichen, moss and dirt.

Why do I need to clean my roof?

Over time, algae, moss, lichen, dirt and even salt (if you’re near the ocean) can build up on your roof. These buildups can affect the look and function of your roof unless removed. The buildup of organic materials such as moss on a shingle roof can prevent water from sloughing off as it normally would. Trapped water can rot the roof or cause early deterioration of your shingles. Even if you don’t have a shingle roof, moss and lichen absorb water, and that wet material adds weight and stress to your roof — as well as providing a home for insects and other pests, and collecting dirt. For reflective, cool roofs that redirect heat away from the home, algae and moss growths can hamper their ability to deflect the sun, which can affect utility bills. Visually, moss, dirt and algae growths on a roof can have a negative effect on perceived home value and curb appeal. For example, black algae streaks on your roof may cause a potential homebuyer to assume that the roof might need repair or replacement, when it only needs to be cleaned.

How much does it cost to clean a roof?

The national average for roof cleaning costs ranges between $270 and $350. Factors that can affect the cost to clean your roof are the height of your house, the size and pitch (steepness) of your roof, and the complexity of your roof’s design and accessibility. Geographic location also plays a role in roof cleaning costs as regional labor rates and area costs to do business will vary. There are several ways to clean a roof. The most common is pressure washing. Industrial pressure washers can spray over 3,000 pounds per square inch (psi) of water — which is much too powerful for roof cleaning, and may tear off shingles and damage your roof. Confirm that the roof-cleaning pro you choose will only use a low-pressure sprayer to protect your roof investment. For large algae or moss growths, pros often recommend a combination of low-pressure washing with a bleach-based chemical solution. This is referred to soft washing and should handily remove any growths taking over your roof.

What chemicals are used to clean roofs?

Roof cleaning is done to remove moss, lichen, algae, and buildup of other grime and dirt. There are several methods for roof cleaning, which can include a chemical soft wash, pressure washing, low-pressure washing and hand washing. When a chemical soft wash is used, a bleach mixture is sprayed onto the roof. The bleach-based solution is absorbed by the algae or moss, which dies from exposure to the chemical. The roof is then sprayed with a low-pressure rinse of water, which loosens the now-dead material, allowing it to slide off the roof.

For homeowners, the Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association recommends a mixture of 50 percent laundry-strength liquid chlorine bleach and 50 percent water. Professional roof cleaning companies will use an industrial mixture that is still safe but may be more effective in eliminating algae and moss growths. Asphalt shingle roofs are the most common type of roof, but each roofing material will have its own cleaning needs, so it’s best to consult with your roofing pro before diving in. Don’t do it yourself unless you can safely navigate your roof, the chemicals and a sprayer system. When in doubt, leave it to the pros.
