Introduction: My passion for dance is shown in how I teach my students. I don't want my students just to learn steps, I want them to feel excited when they understand what they are doing and why. There's no reason to learn with frustration, so I make sure my students feel comfortable in trying something new and I encourage them to step out of their comfort zone and have fun with dancing.
I have been told that my patience and method of teaching works for my students. Everyone learns differently so I adjust to their comfort level and connect with my students in a way that works for them. And I am told I make learning fun, and that's the best advice I can give anyone, is to have fun with it all.

I start dancing about 9 months ago not knowing anything about salsa such as timing, foot steps, name of the steps, hand positioning etc. The amazing salsa instructor (Helena Hassan) took me in as uncoordinated as I was and patiently taught me everything I needed to know. throughout the routines she taught me it's okay to make mistakes, be yourself on the dance floor, let the music Moves you, follow the timing Of the music and and be sure to practice the routines at home. she makes dancing fun and the atmosphere welcoming! After many tries an errors, it wasn't long until I found myself going out to various venues in Washington DC dancing with other salsa lovers, not being afraid to ask beautiful women to dance and feeling comfortable while doing so! to get where I am today on the dance floor I can honestly say (Helena Hassan) made it possible.

Simply an Outstanding instructor. Hailing from Trinidad and Tobago my ability to have rhythm in my hips comes natural to me; however when it comes to Salsa which is brand new to me I have two left feet. Helena and her instructor collogues have made learning Salsa as a beginner as easy as 1-2-3. Though I am still learning and still get nervous the fun and encouraging atmosphere makes it easy to relax and embrace the Salsa culture. I am amazed how slowly but surely I am getting better and more confident with each class I attend. I really appreciate Helena and her efforts through Fusion Urbana. As I continue to progress I dream of one day walking into the Salsa Room ( Salsa Club) and being able to dance with any female with confidence and style. I have a good feeling that if I stay the course I will be able to accomplish this dream with the help of Helena and her staff. Thanks so much!!!!

Helena is an amazing instructor. When I began working with Helena I knew the basics on how to dance. Not only did she move me above and beyond what my dancing had been, she also helped me develop my dance etiquette. Things like how to dance in a crowd, how to approach ladies to dance with, and ooohhhh
. how to stay on step (which I still struggle with sometimes). I have been around the Latin dance scene for many years now. I have performed in many different places with many different teams. Ive had many different instructors, but to this day I have never had a better, more dedicated instructor than Helena Hassan. I highly recommend her for anyone wanting to learn the beauty and passion of Latin dance.

Amazing instructor. I went to a salsa class offered by her to improve in my worst dance, and after a year ended up competing in salsa and another dame that she taught, merengue, leading to me placing 3rd and 2nd in merengue competitions and 1st in a salsa competition. I then progressed to become an assistant instructor, a choreographer for Hispanic heritage month festivals, and a judge at a merengue competition! None of this would have been possible without Helena's tutelage! :)
