Our builder grade 1990s wood windows, front door, transom and side-lite windows had all suffered from age and neglected painting resulting in rotted wood, infiltrated panes, broken grids, ripped screens, and issues opening and closing many of them. They were all long overdue for replacement and then we discovered Zen Windows of Washington, DC. They are consummate professionals. Their high quality, energy efficient products backed by a transferable lifetime warranty, strong technical knowledge, excellent value (price/quality relationship), pressure free consultative sales approach, and absolutely incredible install team left us 100% satisfied from beginning to end. The leader of the install team promised us that they would do the install as if it was his own home and actually did! I am very detail oriented and given the complexity of the job, their work was truly unbelievable. Its perfect! Dont waste your time with Andersen, Pella, Thompson Creek or others. Install Provia Endure EN6500 Series Sliding Patio Door with Art Glass.Bottom Line: This is the first time we have used this company, and they did excellent work for a reasonable price, and more importantly, built a huge amount of trust with the customer. Communication: Scheduling the initial estimate was easy, but the back-and-forth communication required to finalize the many detailed options was a bit slow; however, the owner Scott Halle interceded and timely communication continued throughout the rest of the process. Scoping Work: This is where Zen Windows really excels, primarily because of the vast knowledge of James Bond. We wanted to replace the single door with side transoms with something that would maximize the opening space. James expertly walked us through the options with cost and wall modification comparisons. In addition, the header above the current door was swelling and pinning the door, and James evaluated the issue, likely water seeping down from an unflashed deck, and provided peace of mind his guys could fix it on site during installation. Quality of Work: Frankly, 75-80% of contractors fail here for three primary reasons: a horrible handoff from the product specialist to the onsite project foreman, project foreman and workers making assumptions about details vice asking the customer, and lack of quality detailed work. The foreman excelled in these areas ensuring we were on the same page for various details such as casing, caulking, and external trim. In addition, he completely replaced the rotted wood structure above and along the sides of the door and added customer-provided insulation where there were gaps. To keep the project on track, they brought in another expert worker and management arrived to ensure the quality of work was high. The end product was beautiful. Pricing: Price was the best of three highly ranked Angies List companies. Zen Windows expertise, willingness to explain the details of the project, timely communication, and excellent work took the hassle out of this project.

We started with some of the big names in the industry for new doors and their business model of jacking up the price and then lowering it by 50% wasn't a match for us. Then we found Zen. Their staff was transparent and easy to work with. Their prices for the same doors were much lower than the 50% off price from the other two companies. Also, they arrived on time and did a great job. The owner came by to check in and they were fast to respond to a couple follow up emails. Highly recommend!

We had Zen windows replace our entire entryway. Door and side window. They were great. Knowledge, helpful in making suggestions and providing options. And prompt with a very good price. The workmen were courteous and very meticulous to get everything just right. Our new entryway looks even better that we had imagined it would. Highly recommend them!

    Zen Windows believes in honest, transparent pricing without the gimmicky discounts or sales offered by the other companies. Our prices are very competitive, and often lower, in comparison to other companies.

    We can offer virtual quotes using customer-supplied pictures and approximate measurements, or, if preferred, we are happy to schedule an in-person appointment. Unlike other companies, though, we will not subject you to long sales pitches and high pressure tactics to get you to make a decision immediately. Generally speaking we are in your home only to take pictures, gather measurements, and answer any questions you may have. This process takes about 30 minutes.
