Hello, and thank you for stopping by!
Why should you hire me to sew for you, or to teach you to sew? Why indeed? I have many years of experience making tailored clothing and costumes, and I can make you look amazing.
I began sewing when I was ten years old, and at the age of twelve, I became the youngest costumer in the history of the California Renaissance Fair to be approved to make costumes for performers on commission.
If I am making costumes or clothing for you, or doing alterations in your clothing, I will have them ready on time as promised, and your satisfaction is guaranteed.
If I am teaching you to sew, I will be able to help you use your sewing machine effectively, and to perform the many small steps to make your own sewing stand out.
Many people who are beginning to sew do not know what they need to do in order to make their garments look good.
Sewing patterns tend to presume a very large amount of knowledge on the part of the sewist. Sometimes, if you don’t know how to perform a certain step, or even why you are being asked to do it, your garment can end up not looking right or turning out the way you expected. Often, the most frustrating thing is not knowing what went wrong.
I can help.
I can look at the items you are making, and tell you how to fix whatever has gone wrong. Many times, a costume has a problem that is very easy to fix, and learning how to do a particular sewing operation, such as clipping a seam, or grading, or redoing a hem, or even pressing the garment differently, can make all the difference.
So bring me that thing you began to make and don’t know how to fix. I promise you I have seen worse, and it is very likely that we will be able to make it work. I have been teaching for many years, and I love to watch people improve and to make their dreams come true!
Aside from working as a costumer, I have made most of my own clothing for many years, including formal gowns for my harp and singing performances. I specialize in long, beautiful dresses which fit like a dream.
As a longtime costumer, I understand how important comfort is even in the most incredible clothing, and I can either make you comfortable, beautiful clothing, or help you learn to make it yourself.
I have made kilts, tailored coats and jackets for men and women, and costumes for Renaissance Festivals and Faires. I make full Tudor court attire, kirtles, bodices, shifts and skirts for wenches and washerwomen, as well as for fine ladies, and corsets, undergarments, petticoats and hoopskirts of every description. I have made Edwardian clothing, Regency gowns, Victorian ballgowns and day dresses and long, tailored coats that fit over day dresses and evening gowns I have made many costumes for people who participate in different types of historical reenactment.
I make bridal attire both for modern brides and for those wishing to get married in historical costumes. You probably have an idea of what you want your dream wedding dress to look like, and I can help you make your dream come true.
When people hear the word “costume,” they often think of an item of clothing that is cheap and does not fit well. But when you are a performer who must spend many hours a week wearing a costume, you know how important it is for that costume to be actual clothing.
It has to fit perfectly, it has to be durable enough to look gorgeous through every show, and it has to be comfortable, even if it is an ensemble with a corset and very heavy skirts.
So whether you want to learn to sew, or to hire me to do the sewing for you, we can make it happen. Contact me today, and let’s make something beautiful together.See more
