About

Hello. I'm John Silva, also known as DJ Johnny Mark. I started as a DJ in 1977. I am now offering several different services, such as the following: * DJ * Wedding singer * Live and studio recording * Sound engineer * Audio/video * Equipment rentals * Club tuning * System installations * MC * Karaoke * Open mic nights * Trivia We are more than your basic DJ company, and we offer you all of our services on a professional level. Now, even one-on-one training and classes in the trades are also available. Visit our website. We are your one-stop shop for all of these services. We are based on Cape Cod and currently offering services for weddings, commitments, functions, events and backyard parties in the New England area. The services we provide include the following: 1) Online wedding planner Why pay an extra $1,000 for a wedding planner when you can easily do it yourself? We can help you online for free. 2) Timeline for every event We have online forms available for you to use and print out that will help you organize your event whatever your event type is (for free). 3) Weddings and commitments We provide mainly DJ and MC services; some are very basic, and some are very involved and extreme. You should realize that this is not just some average DJ company that offers music with some lights. In talking with you and understanding each and everyone's event needs, the sky is the limit in what is offered here. There can be very short and simple events or long-detailed, creative and involved events. Where can your $350 to $8,000 take you? 4) DJ services It's all pretty simple and can be whatever you want it to be. In the past years, I started with records, doing parties and dances and things went to CDs and still mixing records. I had a love for mixing in the clubs. Record pools and remix companies opened me to even more music and styles of music producers and engineers. The lights, excitements and the fog enhance it. A show can be whatever you want it to be; a wedding or an event is the same. This is your party, not mine. I'm here to help you to decide in whatever you are looking for to make the best event you even thought possible or something very simple. The choice is yours, as it can be big, or it can be small. I have all the equipment to do whatever you would like, and you can add any or all services as well. We have over three million songs and videos, several live acts and comedy events with projections. I've seen and done so many commitments and wedding events -- some traditional and some are not. I would love to help you with your next event. I have forms for wedding details as well as timelines that will save you a great deal of time and frustration and save you from having to get a wedding planner or event coordinator. These simple online forms will walk you through all the questions that these agencies would ask you and put it onto paper. With this, you will already have it online, and you can print it out and give copies to whomever. Your wedding photographer may want a copy of the timeline to know when the cake cutting is and so on, to be ready for his shots. This planner would need to give this information to your DJ or to get everything perfect for your wedding. These forms are basically a blueprint for your wedding. Shouldn't your DJ provide this for you? I would think so, but several DJs do not. You can be certain that these forms with going over any changes in your event will go to structure. There are several things that a nonprofessional would not consider or even know about. I had experienced one DJ who had an unpleasant hum noise the whole event. I knew what it was from the start, and I knew how to fix it, but he avoided the problem, and everyone at this event suffered. I can tell you this is just one of many things that can happen. So, you need to have a backup and know equipment -- sometimes a little more, such as some tricks of the trade as we say. Feel free to call me about our DJ services. What is your event type? Are they the following? - Weddings - Commitments - Parties - Anniversaries - School dances - Proms - Sweet sixteens - Class reunions - Company parties - Holiday parties - Christmas parties - New Year parties - Bachelorette parties - Backyard parties and cookouts - Boat cruise parties - Beach parties - Halloween parties - Costume parties - Fashion events - Adult parties - Kids parties - Birthday parties - After-hour parties - House parties - Banquets - Private parties - Meetings - Picnics - Concerts - Theme events - Nightclub engagements - Graduations - Retirements - Showers - Holiday promotions - Fund-raisers - Bachelor parties - Reunions - Commercials - Plays - Complete production If there is an event or party that you want to create or invent, please contact me, and I will be glad to help you in creating whatever you want or imagine. We provide rental services for the following: - DJ systems - Projectors - Karaoke systems - Audio - Visual systems - Turntables - Controllers - Microphones - Wireless microphones - Microphone stands - DJ speakers - PA speakers - Monitor speakers - Active speakers - Folding bass speakers - Amplifiers - PA racks - Live system for computer or iPod - Live wireless system for plays - Recording for commercials - CD systems with mixers - Turntables systems with mixers - Cables, connectors, and wires - Lights - DJ light packages - Advanced lighting - Fog machines - Bubble machines - Foam machines - Small disco balls - Medium disco balls - Large disco balls - Laser lights - Pin lighting - Mushroom lights - Dance floors - DJ booths - Band equipment For any questions on any of the equipment rentals, please feel free to contact me. I have a wide range of systems and raw equipment that is readily available for your event. 5) MC services You will get a professional whom you can trust. If your event is in a different language, this is not common and never a problem. I have some personal MCs (male and female) whom I worked with if needed for different events. Most of the time, I'm doing the MC work, however, depending on the event. Sometimes, another MC might be more suited for the event, or one might be needed depending on the many things going on at the event. Again, this is something I've started in my earlier years along with the DJ work. This is a little timid back in 1977 when I was starting, but as time went on and being in the business, this has quickly changed. I might also add different sports personalities as well as comedians and male and female singers, depending on the event date. If you have any further questions, please contact me about the MC services. 6) Recording engineer services I actually got into recording, doing any DJ gigs. It started with going live sound for my cousin's band and some of the other local bands, which eventually turned into doing several more, along with the same lines as recording. I have recorded a bit after building my own studio, and I became a certified recording engineer in 1993 in Boston. It was the mixing that I took a great deal of interest in. I had several years of experience with mixing the different records. Seven nights a week in the clubs and hearing all of the different sounds and remixes over time has brought me to become more and more picky over what I was listening to and what I wanted to play. This is just the nature of this business and what it does to you. As for the recording part, I'll make sure that every band or recording artist is looking for something from their work, not something that overproduces, although some are looking for a certain groove or sound. Everyone is looking for something that is a little different. The best way to explain this to someone who is looking for a certain engineered sound or recording is to listen to several different mixes out there, to point out to me exactly what they are looking for, and then leave that up to me and create for them what is the closest I can to what they are looking to obtain. Many just want a simple raw recording. Everyone is different. It could be a commercial with voice-overs, a speech, or maybe something with video recording. If you're looking for a professional recording with top-quality recording gear, and you are looking to record 32 channels at the same time into 32 tracks or something very simple, it can all be done here. We do preproduction, remixing, editing and mastering, including adding musicians -- that is not an issue. Contact me for more info on recording. 7) Wedding singers This is a service that came to me from a request at a karaoke night. My client discovered me on the dance floor while I was singing karaoke at a local bar. I do often sing there and at different locations and time to time with bands as well as play instruments. Anyhow, the person had asked me to deejay her for wedding, and as I mentioned, I also offer karaoke; she said that she had just wanted me to sing and not for her family, with some laughs. So I did, and it started into a new service in my DJ business. I also have had female singers come in as well as other male singers, and I had even provided sound rental at one event, where they wanted a female singer in which they ran an iPod after their services. I am very happy with that; I must say. I cannot ever remember having a bad experience since I've started this business. I love singing, and as I said, I also provide a karaoke service that is a ton of fun. I think the band in school and my years of joining choir and singing in the church and with many bands just paid off. I really enjoy this service I've added to my company. Please contact me for any information on the wedding singer. 8) Karaoke services This is not just a drop-off machine. This is very professional equipment with a PA setup for a small party to a larger event, depending upon the amount of people or size of your location. This is a service that can be added on to a DJ service or be provided by an MC. This service can also be just an equipment rental; however, the rental might be a bit higher than others due to the professional equipment that you are getting and the free transportation, setup, breakdown and 24/7 tech support you're getting. In most all of the services, you're getting much more than what would be provided by our competition. Please take this in consideration. There are several others out there, but we want to make sure that you're happy with us, so we always go that extra mile. Please contact me for more information on our karaoke services. 9) MC, DJ and recording lessons If you're looking to become a DJ or an MC or maybe to learn to do live sound or become a recording engineer, I can help. I have a studio set up with some great hands on tools and the access to many different studios and clubs. I'm taking on some one-on-one training and will also have some future classes. If you're interested in learning any of these trades and would like hands-on training, this might be the opportunity for you. Contact me about a housing option for classes. For more information on these lessons, please contact me.

About

CedarHouse has decades of audio done right! CedarHouse Sound & Mastering is New Hampshire’s professional recording studio of choice, offering the best in analog, digital, mastering, restorative/archival and on-site location multi-track audio recording. Owned and operated by veteran producer, Gerry Putnam, CedarHouse Sound & Mastering is uniquely equipped from both an experience and a facility standpoint. It has been operating for more than 25 years. From humbly starting out as a one-man, 8-track studio, CedarHouse has grown to its current virtually limitless capability. CedarHouse is situated between The Musterfield Farm Museum and The King Hill Reservation, just a few miles south of New London and Lake Sunapee, on a 44-acre, mid-19th century farm. It maintains its commitment to provide state-of-the-art recording tools, and it offers performance rooms which are open, varied, warm and alluring. There are beautiful views and an abundance of natural light. CedarHouse is well known around the globe for its mastering service. Our studio offers Digidesign Pro Tools HD and SADiE Artemis mastering systems, from 32k to 192k and 16- to 32-bit sampling. Despite the fact that most projects are released on CD at this time, each project mastered and archived here is ready for future formats once they become widely accepted. CedarHouse is very much dedicated to an atmosphere of efficiency and creativity where the expertise and tools are subservient to the music. By design, we do not book around the clock. We understand that it's impossible to fit creative processes and creative people into neat back-to-back time blocks. By using awesome tools and knowing them intimately, we are able to provide a delightful recording experience with a minimum of equipment-related obstacles. "Gerry Putnam is the most utterly professional, intelligent, sympathetic and intuitive engineer I know. As a musician, he knows and listens. As a technologist, Gerry is creative and is always, always willing to stretch not only his own stylistic boundaries, but the boundaries of his equipment as well; all of which is high end. He is tireless. When the rest of us have put up our feet in exhaustion, Gerry is still working. It’s amazing." –– Odds Bodkin, Master Storyteller, Author "I first met Gerry in May of 2010, and have been working a musical project with him for more than a year. His musicianship, creativity, and ear for music (of all types) are impeccable. His ability to listen to and absorb a musician's concepts and ideas and translate them into reality is, without a doubt, his most important attribute.” –– Lou Antonucci, Musician and Songwriter “Gerry's attributes are many. He is a musician's engineer and producer. He is skillful, expert and diligent. He is completely trustworthy and creates an easygoing atmosphere in which to do creative work. We have worked with Gerry for years on many projects. I trust his ears and his impeccable taste completely.” –– Paul Hodes, Congressman at United States Government, Advisory Board Member at New Hampshire Institute of Politics “Gerry Putnam at CedarHouse Sound and Mastering is one of the best producers/engineers I have ever worked with in my 45 years of recording. His attention to budget and detail has helped me greatly in our projects and time together. He is a good man, and I am very thankful and proud to call him my brother and friend.” –– Mighty Sam McClain, Musician and Songwriter “There are so many sound engineers out there, but I choose to drive almost two hours each way to work with Gerry. He's the best. He's not one of the best. He is the best. He hears things in the studio, and knows how to tell me when he thinks I can do it better. He's kind about it. And he knows his equipment and how to use it. He picks the best mic for my instruments or voice, and understands what I'm trying to do because he listens! I've been forced to work with other engineers, and it never sounds as good, ever. If you need more information than this, contact me.” –– David Coffin, Musician and Songwriter
