My fiance and I needed a good photographer for our small wedding of 20 people. Joe had great shots and came well rated. He spent a little extra time for preliminaries and took many shots and poses. The wedding and the pictures were really great. Thanks

Christophe was the perfect wedding photographer we could have asked for! He knows his work very well and is very professional. He was very good at directing family pictures and couple pictures after the ceremony - we needed that. He took a ton of beautiful pictures. And he did it very quickly. I am actually surprised at the number of pictures he took at our wedding. He is perfect at blending in and taking candid pictures. We are impressed with his work and his pricing is very reasonable. He even stayed a little longer than we had originally decided on for no extra charge to document the wedding very well in its entirety. We couldn't have asked for anyone better :) Great job Christophe and thank you for making our wedding so memorable!

Greg was our wedding photographer 10 years ago. He did a lovely job capturing the beauty of the day. I loved the candid shots especially. He was quick to process all pictures, back in the day of film rolls. Digital photography was new technology back then, and he also took some digital pictures that are amazing. His laid back personality really helped make us more comfortable. Most of the time, we didn't even know he was taking the pictures. I would highly recommend Greg!

My fiancé and I didn't think we needed a videographer for our wedding, but with barely a week to go before our big day, we knew we had made a huge mistake not hiring a film artist, knowing that it was unlikely we'd be able to find someone that met our criteria, budget, and who was also available with such short notice. We found Peter through Thumbtack and he reached out to us in less than 10 minutes. We had a conference call with him that same evening and he made the process stress-free and simple. He showed up to our venue early, stayed late, and worked seamlessly and professionally with our photographer. As promised, he had five shorts ready for us the NEXT day and also got nearly all of our cinematography within the same weekend. We could not be more impressed with how our video came out and we are 100% certain that we would have really regretted not having our day on film. Peter's work is flawless; his love for the art shows through his work radiantly. My husband and I have watched our film countless times and have shed a tear each time. This is something we will love and cherish for many years to follow and are so thankful for all of the amazing experience and sophistication Peter contributed to the most important day of our lives. The biggest piece of advise I can give future grooms and brides is you 100% DO need a videographer for your wedding and it NEEDS to be Peter Scheibner with P.S. Photography.

They did such an amazing job for our family. She was able to capture the kids personalities and get great family photos. David was amazing. We had a very small wedding and he was a great presence. Super nice, funny and professional. We have no known pictures of my entire family smiling at once and he was able to capture several. Despite the wedding being at night in the dark, he managed to take many beautiful, creative shots. Throughout the process he was flexible, responsive, very fairly priced. During the ceremony he was efficient without rushing. We'll 100% reccomend him to all family and friends. We couldn't be happier.

I cannot say enough positive things about Jasmin. My husband and I are notorious for ruining posed photos (I can never keep my eyes open, he always has a terrible fake awkward smile), but Jasmin was so easy to work with that we were comfortable instantly, and it shows in our pictures. Her relaxing yet efficient demeanor keeps the photos rolling while everything else is crazy around you. I have gotten so many compliments on our pictures, because they are stunning and capture the emotional, fun and exciting day perfectly. They are not just your average wedding photos - there is an artistic element to them that makes them interesting to look at, while still keeping the traditional elements you need. She responded very quickly and professionally to every detail, and helped me flush out the ideas I had in my head and could not fully verbalize. Basically, if I had to relive my wedding day 100 times, I would hire her 101 times.

Having Jim photograph my wedding was one of the best decisions ever! Usually, I HATE photos of myself which are not posed. However, Jim was able to catch not only me, but everyone, in the best possible way. He even took a couple of black and white photos, which was an unexpected gift, as they were beautiful! Hire him!!!

Austin Perry by far exceeded every single one of my expectations for a wedding photographer. My December wedding came with an unexpected snow storm that drastically changed the schedule for the entire day; Austin arrived at my venue early and got right to work. Although the weather made the the day a bit more hectic, Austin handled every single change with the utmost professionalism and was able to make the snow into an integral part of my group photos. I was amazed by his creativity and willingness to stand in half a foot of snow to get the perfect shot. My pictures are absolutely incredible, I could not have possibly dreamed of a better person to capture the day.

Michael was fantastic to work with at our wedding. He was fun, friendly, professional and gave us pictures that far exceeded our expectations. Several guests even asked if he was a family friend because he was so easy to work with. I would highly recommend Michael to any of my closest friends looking for beautiful wedding photography!

Jared is one of my favorite photographers to work with. He is always very professional and has great vision. Jared's passion and dedication for his work really shows. He does whatever it takes to get the shot, whether it's laying on the floor or even climbing a tree-I was really impressed with that! The pictures are beautiful and truly are a work of art.

Alexi was wonderful. Prompt, easy to work with, and most importantly, her photography is seriously good. She took really good pictures of my botanical wedding. She captured moments, instead of focusing on just posed photos. She was my favorite vendor for my entire event.

Liz was without a doubt the best choice I could have made for my 30th birthday party. As soon as we met, I knew it was going to be a great night. Her upbeat personality and easy laugh put everyone at ease immediately and made for some great photos. She was the consummate professional throughout the night, but somehow felt instantly like a part of the group. She was flexible and easygoing, willing to take candid photos, photo booth shots, and get out in the boat to take pictures of our cabins and group from the lake. She even took some soulful shots our our party's piñata Peanie, who became a treasured member of the group. Her photos were beyond even my high expectations, really capturing the beauty of the setting and the love and friendship of everyone in the group. I will be keeping in touch with Liz well into the future. When my wedding date is set, she will be my first call.

Tonee was our wedding photographer and I am so glad we chose him. Not only was he so easy to work with, but I love looking back at our photos. Tonee did such an amazing job capturing every aspect of our day; from the place, to the people, to the love all around it brings me right back to our wedding. I always say, that at the end of the wedding all you take away are your photographs and your jewelry...choose wisely, I'm really glad we did.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost for a photographer for a wedding?

Finding the right wedding photographer can make a big difference for your ceremony. Nationally, the average wedding photographer’s price ranges from $800 to $1,000, but costs can be much higher in areas like Chicago, New York or Los Angeles where some couples spend $2,000 to $5,000 or more for the photographer they want. Factors that can affect your wedding photographer prices include the photographer’s reputation and experience. Heavy hitters can command top rates, especially during wedding-season weekends. Day of the week also affects your cost. You may get a $200 discount on wedding photographer prices if you get married on a Friday in November rather than a Saturday in June. Time onsite is also an important cost factor. Hiring a photographer to snap photos from the moment you wake up until after last call at the reception is going to cost more than five hours of pictures during the day. Multiple photographers, special lighting, and videography will also increase your costs. Ultimately you want to find someone who has a style you love and can provide the number of edited shots you want for a price you can handle. Learn more about hiring a wedding photographer.
