Teacher of "Chicago Style Steppin" in Detroit. He is from Chicago and appears to be authentic in his dance style, knowledge and his love for it. Teaches the fundamentals of the dance, from which everything builds upon. The music used in his class is a nice tempo ( he is a DJ as well) and similar to what I hear when I go to Chicago to dance. He is professional and appropriate with his students. I do not feel demeaned by him when I make a dance error. Instead, he teaches how to "clean it up" and "keep it moving-" which is an underutilized skill in the dance. He offers venue recommendations for students going to Chicago to dance and sometimes accompanies his male dance leads to Chicago for a weekend of observation, learning and practice.

Jamal is an excellent instructor. Who takes his time with his students so they will have an understanding of the dance. He also gives feedback when necessary on your dance and what needs to be done to improve. He was a joy to work with and will always be a great friend.
