Pedro from Steem Cleaning was excellent. Left my carpet and furniture feeling fresh and clean, like brand new. He was also very efficient in his timing and very fair in his pricing. I would never hesitate to hire Pedro again.

I was very pleased with this company! The best carpet cleaners I have ever had. Very professional, friendly, and reliable. They both communicated with me and did not elevate their price when they got here like all carpet cleaners Ive had in the past. In fact they didn't charge me for one section which was unheard of! I couldn't be happier! Now my house looks awesome for the holidays! Thank yout

Angelo is a very nice and professional man. I had him come out and fix my broken recliners. He brought some replacement parts but they didn't work so he had to fabricate a solution with some of my existing parts and some from the pieces he brought. I also had him look at my wobbly table and he was able to fix that as well. This was really good because I recently had another company come out and they told me there was nothing they could do. It was a pleasure working with Angelo and if I have any furniture repairs in the future I will definitely be calling him. I highly recommend hiring Angelo he does a great job and has very reasonable prices. Mark Wenninger

Tommy went above and beyond cleaning our home. As, I suffer from disabilities I had fallen so far behind I was concerned of health influences. Other cleaners refused to help us. Tommy and his crew not only tackled the huge task ahead of them; they didn't make me feel guilty and ashamed like the last cleaner. So thank you for your Grit, your kindness, and professionalism.

Very good company to have cater to your home improvement needs. I needed my hard wood floor refinished and these guys came and did a flawless job. I definitely will be giving them a call in the future. They not only refinish hard wood floors but also provide carpet cleaning and a variety of different services. In all, this is a great company and I was very satisfied.

Great experience! Steve was very flexible in scheduling a time that was convenient for me and even understanding when I needed to reschedule. I wish I had taken "before" pictures of our couch and loveseat. We have a 2-year old and these couches were embarrassingly stained, with water spots, food stains and finally a potty accident. (Which prompted the service call to Classic Carpet!) Steve arrived on time, scrubbed the furniture by hand and then steam cleaned and sanitized with his equipment. He even applied a Scotchgard treatment. When Steve finished cleaning the couch and loveseat (working around my 2 year old and his playmate and their toys) the furniture looked brand new. I was blown away and a little mad at myself for not having them cleaned sooner. ;) I typically have my carpets cleaned by a "big box" company, but will be switching to Classic Carpet Care now that I've found their company. Hire them! I can assure you that you won't be disappointed in the service you receive. :) Thanks again for coming out to our home and making our couches presentable again.

This company is great. I was really struggling with my space trying to imagine where to place everything and what furniture I needed. The design staff here really helped me by listening to what I needed for the space and providing me with options. Thanks again!

Mark and Chris came on a Friday and completed the job in one day. The job included wiping down, mopping and hepa-vacuuming the entire basement. They used air scrubbers to clean the air and they sealed off the basement from the rest of the house to prevent cross contamination. The product they use to fog is called Oceanic. Most products just encapsulate the mold spore, so even though it's dead, it can still be an irritant. Oceanic is an Enzyme that actually crushes it so it is no longer an irritant. I can't say enough about Mark and Chris. They were very professional, very knowledgeable and very nice people. I was not here while they were doing the work, but they were very careful not to let the cats or the dog out. They did the work they said they would do and they left the basement cleaner than what they started with. My test results show that they got rid of the mold and they guarantee it for 2 years. Description of work: Our basement leaked and we had very high mold counts in the basement. I had four companies come out and talked to many others on the phone to get as much information as I could on mold remediation. I chose Green Home Solutions for several reasons. The main reason is the product they use. After researching many different protocols that all of the different companies use, I found theirs to be not only non-toxic, but also the most effective. The second reason I chose them was because of the owners, Mark and Chris. They were very knowledgeable about the product and took all the time I needed to explain everything to me. They were very friendly and genuinely seemed to care about my problem. They were easy to contact and always returned calls promptly. They were very accommodating to fit me in when it was most convenient for me. They showed up when they said they would, the work they did exceeded my expectations and when they finished the job, they followed up with me to make sure I was satisfied. Sherry

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is upholstery cleaning?

From your carpets to your drapes to your furniture, all fabrics need to be cleaned. Cleaning upholstery, or the fabric on your furniture, removes the dirt and oils that are transferred to couches and chairs through regular use. Because furniture upholstery can be delicate and colors can fade easily, it’s often a good idea to let professional sofa cleaners handle the job. They’ll determine the type of fabric — usually cotton, linen, wool, suede or microfiber — and the appropriate method for cleaning it, either steam-cleaning or applying a dry-cleaning solvent. In general, cleaning an entire piece of furniture includes a pretreatment, cleaning, and neutralizing rinse to the body, plus removing and cleaning all cushions and cleaning all crevices.

An upholstery cleaner may clean the entire piece of furniture, on a regular schedule or by request, or do spot treatments to remove pet, food, drink, or oil and grease stains. Furniture can also be deodorized to remove the smell of pets or tobacco smoke. Furniture that’s used often, like that in your family room, should be cleaned once a year to keep it fresh and extend its life. Sofa cleaners often also offer repair services to mend tears in fabric or patch holes in leather.

Who cleans couches?

Even if your furniture doesn’t appear dirty or stained, your couches are collecting just as much dust, pollen, germs, pet hair and dander, and even food crumbs as your carpets. In general, the same professionals who clean your carpets and drapes can also clean your couches. Carpet cleaners usually offer upholstery cleaning services as well, and may offer a discount if you have your carpets cleaned at the same time. Alternatively, you can choose from a range of professional upholstery cleaners in your area who specialize in cleaning different types of upholstery fabrics, including delicate antique fabrics and other hard-to-clean materials such as suede. In addition to deep-cleaning the entire piece of furniture, sofa cleaners can spot-treat food, pet, and oil and grease stains. Most professionals also offer services to sanitize and deodorize your furniture and apply protectants to prevent future stains. As with carpets, experts recommend that you have your upholstered furniture cleaned once every year or two, depending on how much use it gets and whether you have children and pets.

How much does upholstery cleaning cost?

The cost to have your upholstered furniture cleaned depends mostly on two factors: the size of the furniture and the type of fabric. The national average cost of upholstery cleaning ranges from $120 to $150. Most people have multiple pieces cleaned at once, but sofa cleaners will come to your home for just one heavily soiled couch or to spot-treat stains. The smaller the furniture, the lower the cost: A lounge chair may cost an average of $50 to clean, while a couch costs an average of $135 and an L-shaped sectional costs an average of $190. Delicate materials such as antique fabrics or suede upholstery are more expensive to clean than sturdier ones. Having the sofa cleaner do repairs will also add to the cost. Repairs such as mending a tear in fabric or patching a hole in leather may be charged by the task or by the hour; in general, repairs cost an average of $15 each. Special or delicate fabrics may cost additional fees, too.
