Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Can a notary come to you?

While some notaries work entirely in an office, a notary can also come to you if they offer mobile services. These notaries may charge a higher fee than those with brick-and-mortar businesses because they have to charge for driving time and may offer emergency pricing for customers who need signatures urgently.

Where can I find a notary?

You can find a notary in your area by searching for them online, where you can compare several pros’ ratings and reviews. Read customer reviews to get an impression of their reputation, and decide if you need a mobile notary (someone who comes to you).

Make sure that whoever you choose to work with can display the proper credentials in your state, and finish your search by contacting several notaries and requesting price quotes.

What does a mobile notary charge?

If you plan on hiring a notary, expect to pay between $15 and $70 per hour for their services. But to account for their travel time, mobile notaries might charge more than those in an office.

Reviews for Kalamazoo mobile notaries
Kathleen C.
I am an out of state attorney that needed documents notarized for a family member/client that was in a hospital. I was amazed to learn that this hospital did not have a Notary available to patients (although they made it sound like the Chaplain was one but turns out that person just comes to be a witness). So, off I went to research about finding someone that would come to the Hospital. Can I say it was beyond enlightening to find so many mobile Notaries. That surprise then went on to how many would NOT go to a Hospital and would NOT sign the exact kind of documents that we see most people needing a Notary to sign (like a power of attorney)! She was not available as early as I wanted her to be but I was so hoping something might happen that would make her available sooner because she was the ONLY woman that was willing to go to a hospital AND to do the kind of documents we needed. ALL THAT ASIDE: Once she made herself available for the earlier date (today), the next thing that struck me favorably is she was willing to work with my paying her in some other way than case (since I'm NOT EVEN IN THE STATE) and said she'd work with me. She kept me advised of her arrival time, to the minute, apparently knows what she's doing as I had someone else there with the person signing the documents and SHE WAS IN AND OUT. She then sent me her email info so I could just transfer funds to her PayPal account. BAM I'm sharing her name with as many MI attorneys as I can and happy to make this review. Sadly, it seems most of my reviews are about negative experiences. I've been trying to focus on giving someone favorable reviews when they deserve them because it helps people avoid those "other," not so good folks. IF YOU NEED A NOTARY WITHIN 100 MILES OF KALAMAZOO, MI, SHE IS YOUR PERSON!
