I’m 34 and have been training with Brent for almost 6 years. He is by far the best trainer I have ever had! A little background on me, I had been a speed skater all thru my teens and in turn had a lot of back and knee issues. I have been to physical therapy 3 separate times over the years for those issues, all of the times never fixing my problems. I then hurt my shoulder working out and went to see this “well known sports medicine doctor”, who spent a total of 10 minutes with me. He only asked a couple questions, pushed and pulled on my arm and then wrote me an RX for physical therapy diagnosing me with a pulled rotator cuff. I had met Brent a few months earlier and decided to take a different route since traditional physical therapy clinics had not worked for me in the past. Right off the bat I was shocked and delighted that Brent spent an hour with me for my assessment. He really took the time to find out the root of the problem. By the end of the appointment he figured out that I had been misdiagnosed by the highly endorsed doctor and that my real issue was a pulled bicep where it attaches in the shoulder, which he told me, gets misdiagnosed a lot. He told me that if it had been my rotator cuff there was no way that I would have been able to do everything that he had me do during my assessment. I started training with him 2-3/week and I couldn’t believe how quickly I healed and learned so much from him. I love that he educates his clients so that we know why he’s doing what he’s doing and how it affects the body. I apply the information given to me and understand that my results are driven by the degree of which I follow Brent’s advice. I will never go anywhere else, Brent is the best at what he does and he is a trail blazer in new methods and his knowledge of the human body is astounding.

For four years now I've been on this journey of healing myself and compassionately leading others. In order for complete well-being we must heal in the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual bodies, not one without the other. Being in the holistic health field I am always looking for deeper ways of healing especially on cellular levels. I have spent time with Amad for acupuncture a handful of times and highly recommend it to anyone. It was one of the most powerful healing services I had ever experienced. This past Sunday I final made the trip to Inception. I enjoyed my first 60 minute float. Spending my meditation time in the float really increased the benefits and was very cleasning. I will never forget coming out of that room with all the white walls, I was sold! I knew I had to commit to these session to continue cleasning mentally. I asked what other services they provided. I was ready for more. I ended up in the Magnespere. I could feel pulsating throughout my body. I received a test awhile back and stress was the number one dis-ease within my body creating illness in so many ways. We are always go, go, go. Both of these services allowed for a very relaxing time that even today I can feel. I'm moving at a very healthy pace and still feel great today. I made an appointment for next week I will be doing the brain training before my float, then a massage with Amanda. Brain training helps balancing both the right and left hemispheres, which are the feminine and masculine before the float. Not to mention the reprogramming. I will be writing another review to keep everyone updated on my progress I am excited to see where this new technology can take us. Increasing our healing abilities. I'm so grateful to have a place like this in Michigan. I live an hour away and it's so worth the drive. Thank you to the wonderful Inception team!! If you are experiencing any type of dis-ease reach out for tools to bring you back in balance. It's not about treating yourself, it's about self care and self love.

Aoghain has been an excellent find for me. I've now been to visit him twice and it has been a fantastic experience both visits. Aoghain is professional and a great listener to truly understand what you're trying to address. His facility is clean and it has a calming ambience. I was initially hoping for a good massage, but it's been so much more including learning more about a holistic approach, rather than only focusing on a few points. The experience begins when you walk in the door and Aoghain even encourages you to remain for a while afterwards to continue to absorb the experience. I look forward to my next visit and learning more about various healing and relaxation options.

Working with Beverly has been a life changing experience. She has opened my eyes up to new ways of looking at the world and looking at my life. She has helped me rediscover who I am and has helped me to see my gifts. I have always been drawn to healing and Beverly has trained me in many aspects of the healing arts. The experiences have deepened my connection to creator and to all the beings of the world. There have also been times when she has done specific healing on me or members of my family and we have had great outcomes. Beverly has a very special connection with creator and is very led by spirit. I am impressed by how she trusts so strongly in what spirit tells her and how she sees truth so well. She demands alot of her students which can be very challenging but sometimes it is this hard work that can bring us to new places. I do have so much more to learn and the toughest thing for me is the geographical distance. I like learning face to face the best and miss the regular contact of being in the same local. I guess that I most wish that I can take some classes with her soon.

Professional, friendly and holistic.

I am an Integrative Nutrition Health & Wellness Coach based out of Holly, Michigan. My journey began out of frustration in 2010 after four years of going from doctor to doctor. Having been undiagnosed, misdiagnosed, and prescribed pill after pill.....Well, let's just say it took its toll on me. I'd had enough!! Intuitively, I knew that I needed to take action and find answers for myself, not to mention I was still unwell. It took me four long years, thousands of dollars later, and who knows how many unnecessary procedures later, before I decided to take my life back by educating myself and truly embracing the fact that "food is medicine". Not only have I gotten to the root cause of my illness, but I am reversing my illness and I am thriving! More importantly I feel truly blessed to have found my passion in teaching others about health and wellness. Yes, I can guide you in over 100 different dietary theories that I've been taught, but I'm more interested in who you are as a person so that we can work together to discover what roadblocks may be keeping you from reaching all of your hopes and dreams. By doing this, we will discover what works best for you. It's all about bio individuality baby! What works for one person does not work for another! Together, we will get to the root cause of your health and how you may be getting in your own way in reaching your life goals. This could be in any number of areas of your life, whether it be weight, career, relationships, sleep, anxiety, sugar, or emotional eating. We will work together learning how to take small actionable steps to reach your life's goals. Call me today for a FREE 30 minute Discovery Health Consultation. I look forward to hearing from you! xo - Leah

I provide the following services: Swedish Massage This is a full-body massage involving long stroking and kneading techniques. This relaxes the muscles and nerves and improves flexibility and circulation. This promotes proper function to all the systems in the body, as well as ensuring a state of balance, relaxation and well-being. Deep Tissue Massage This is a more in-depth and thorough approach to massage that often addresses specific target areas. Deep tissue addresses muscles that are deep in the body. This massage helps to improve range of motion, correct postural muscles as well as relieve pain. Prenatal Massage This is a massage that is modified for a woman who is pregnant. Generally, the massage is side-laying to improve the expectant mother's comfort, relaxation and promotes a healthy birthing process. Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is naturopathic medicine?

Naturopathic medicine is classified as an alternative healing method, but licensed naturopathic doctors share some of the same academic background as conventional medical doctors and can often prescribe some medications. According to the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians (AANP), naturopathic medicine is holistic care that addresses a wide range of problems including (but not limited to) allergies, chronic pain, digestive issues, hormonal imbalances, obesity, respiratory conditions, heart disease, fertility problems, menopause, adrenal fatigue, cancer, fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome. Naturopathic medicine aims to strengthen and empower the body and its organs to heal itself through low-force interventions. Here are some examples of the type of medical services often provided by naturopathic doctors, as cited by the AANP:

  • Clinical and laboratory diagnostic testing
  • Nutritional medicine
  • Botanical medicine
  • Naturopathic physical medicine (including naturopathic manipulative therapy)
  • Hygiene
  • Counseling
  • Minor surgery
  • Homeopathy
  • Acupuncture
  • Intravenous and injection therapy
  • Naturopathic obstetrics (natural childbirth)

Can naturopathic doctors prescribe medication?

Licensed naturopathic doctors can prescribe some pharmaceutical medication. Naturopathic doctors complete academic training similar to that of conventional physicians: a bachelor’s degree with a focus on pre-med studies, followed by a four-year residential naturopathic medical program whose first two years have a similar foundation to that of a conventional medical school. After completing their studies, they must pass a post-doctoral exam. Although licensed naturopathic physicians are able to prescribe medication, they usually focus on prevention rather than treatment of symptoms. A naturopathic doctor will offer a holistic approach to your care that encompasses your mental, physical and emotional health. While they will prescribe medication as needed to treat illness, they are also likely to be creating shifts in your lifestyle and nutrition to effect deeper changes in your body’s response to illness.

How long do naturopathic doctors go to school?

Like conventional physicians, naturopathic doctors undergo rigorous academic and clinical training prior to practice. Typically naturopathic doctors go to school for eight years. There are currently 20 states in the U.S. that provide licensing for naturopathic doctors. According to the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians, a naturopathic doctor must complete a bachelor’s degree and an accredited four-year residential naturopathic medical program, and pass an extensive postdoctoral board examination, the Naturopathic Physicians Licensing Examinations (NPLEX), in order to receive a license or registration to practice medicine.

The first two years of the residential naturopathic medical program cover many of the same areas of study as conventional medical schools. Naturopathic doctors provide primary patient holistic care. The goal of naturopathic medicine is preventative care and a focus on low force intervention healing methods. This can include natural medicines, acupuncture, hydrotherapy, homeopathy and much more. Naturopathic doctors often work in tandem with conventional medical doctors, as the two practices complement one another.

How do you find a good naturopath?

It’s important not to get misled by the title “naturopath” when searching for a naturopathic doctor. A naturopathic doctor is a licensed professional, while anyone who so desires can call themselves a naturopath. A naturopathic doctor has completed eight years of schooling and is licensed to provide high-quality medical care. When searching for a naturopathic doctor, a good place to start is by researching your state’s licensing and regulatory body for that profession.

Currently, 20 U.S. states license the practice of naturopathic medicine. For those seeking holistic, body-centered healing solutions, a naturopathic doctor can be a good fit. They use natural medicines as well as treatments such as electrotherapy and ayurvedic medicine to encourage the body to heal. Once you have determined a list of naturopathic physicians who are licensed in your state, look for reviews, ask for referrals, and interview the physician in person or by phone to find the right care provider for your health needs.

Do naturopaths take insurance?

Many naturopathic doctors accept insurance, but a separate question is whether your insurance covers alternative and naturopathic services. There are several steps you can take to find out:

  • Verify whether you live in one of the 20 states that currently licenses naturopathic physicians:
    • Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Hawaii, Kansas, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Montana, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Utah, Vermont and Washington.
  • Confirm whether your insurance will cover naturopathic medical services. Read your insurance plan’s fine print, verify whether naturopathic doctors fall into your insurance carrier’s definition of a doctor, and confirm that the care you are receiving is considered medically necessary. Questions to ask your insurance provider could include:
    • Am I covered for this treatment by a naturopathic physician?
    • Do I need a referral?
    • Is there a list of approved naturopathic doctors in my network?
    • What will the co-pay be?
    • Are there limits to my naturopathic coverage?
  • Before seeking medical care, it’s key to understand the difference between a naturopathic doctor and a naturopath. Anyone may advertise themselves as a naturopath, while to be a licensed naturopathic doctor, a person must complete academic and clinical training.
