I used Anvil to complete a front porch repair. He removed existing brick, fixed the foundation, and relayed tile and brick to repair it. He was on time, affordable, and professional. I would hire him again to do other household repairs.

Here goes... I had been considering for a while of having a maid come clean my place….. It’s one of those luxuries you don’t think you need until you have it done I guess. So, I had always come up with reasons not to do it. Long story short, this past year I ended up breaking my hip and couldn’t continue with the household chores like I used to be able to. I don’t know if you’ve ever been forced to sit around and walk on crutches for 4 months but it’s not a fun time and you can’t really keep up with household chores. I had to finally swallow my pride and call somebody. I hired another company on Craigslist (I know, my mistake) and the made 3 separate appointments to come give me a cleaning estimate…. They never ever showed up. After that, I did more research and found Angel Maids after Googling. I didn’t have to wait to get an estimate which was nice. I scheduled the appointment right from their website. Being stubborn, I figured I’d have them come out and do a deep cleaning one time and afterward I would be able to take over again myself. No problem. I went ahead and scheduled the appointment for December 17th. They had two maids come with all equipment (I had my vacuum ready) and got down to it. I’m embarrassed but I’ll admit it… my house was neglected (DIRTY) and the 2 ladies cleaned it from top to bottom... they even had a 3rd person join them because I told them had company coming over later that night. I didn’t even ask or tell them that they had to be out before the people came over but they still called a third maid to make sure they were. It was a nice gesture. I had my fridge cleaned, cabinets, oven, basement (I can’t really walk up and down stairs yet again), all bathrooms, bedrooms and kitchens. I have different kinds of flooring throughout including tile, maple hardwood, carpet, etc. I also have zodiac counter tops in the kitchen and a large glass kitchen table. They were very much in tune with how to properly work with all these difference services. It was probably the nicest my house has looked since I bought it in 1996. So... they converted me. I signed for a bi-weekly scheduled cleaning while I get back on my feet and will keep them around monthly once I’m able to do things again by myself. It’s a great thing knowing that I don’t have to worry about keeping up with my house while I heal. They’ve also done a great job with all of the scheduling and answering any questions I come up with. Like I said, originally I was back and forth about hiring a maid service and Katie/Kelly were very patient in dealing with me. For what it is worth… my experience with Katy and Kelly in the office has been great. I ask a lot of questions and will write long emails (as you can see) and they always respond. I’ve also since learned that Katy was the one that volunteered to come to my home and join the other two maids to help out on the first cleaning. I can’t speak for everyone. I can only say as someone that’s used Angel Maids four times now that they've done a very good job. I’ve referred them to all 3 of my relatives that live in the area if that tells you anything.

When I first posted my job here on Thumbtack I had three separate jobs; junk removal, painting/drywall repairs (AWESOME JOB), household repairs - including putting up a door which we've done before and would not do again - this guy made it look easy! I was immediately contacted by Fusion about completing all three. Not only was the approx. price in the same range as the formal quote, but the work was outstanding, and done within my schedule. He's also a great guy to work with and I felt comfortable with him and his crew. Will do business with him again and highly recommend. Could not have had a better experience and was easier than having three separate companies do the job. Thanks Rogers!!

Cindy was great! She was prompt, friendly, and very thorough. We had her clean our house as we were moving out, and the new owners were thrilled with the condition of the house. We've already hired her to come clean our new house for move in, and I'll be keeping her number handy for times when I might need a bit of household help. Highly recommended!

JD did a real good job! he got rid of the possum family that had setup household in my garage. He made several trips to empty traps. Most exterminators charge for each additional trips. Most important, he knows what he's doing!

Stacie arrived on time and was very professional. After discussing a special request for cleaning of the tile and hardwood flooring by hand, we agreed to an amount that was higher than the original bid but still very reasonable. Stacie is cleaning weekly and has been thorough, dependable, and professional. I am very pleased with the service she provides.

Misty is a wonderful house keeper. I would recommend hiring her to help you with all your household cleaning needs. She is reliable, trustworthy, and will guarantee to not let you down. Reasonably priced, very competitive in pricing to any other cleaning services I have checked out in the past, but her skills will out beat any other business. I like that she allows you to use whatever cleaning supplies you want. She doesn't clean with something "specific" that she may like, but you wont. Providing your own cleaning supplies, will allow Misty to clean your house in a way that you would.. (or better :)

          About

I love cleaning. I treat my clients' homes as I do my own, to which I'm very picky. I will clean what you need cleaned. I also love gardening, and I'll do some gardening and lawn care.

          About

We deliver a professional cleaning without sacrificing quality or attention to detail at an affordable price. Many other house cleaning services use a rotational system, meaning only one portion of your home gets an in-depth clean on each visit, while we clean your entire home each time. We are so confident about our service that we will clean your place again for free if you aren’t happy with our cleaning within 24 hours.

          Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

          What is house sitting?

A house sitter watches your house while you are away for work or vacation, or if you have to be away for an extended period. House sitters can also provide pet-sitting services, staying in your home and caring for your pet while you are away. The house sitter can say overnight in your home while you’re gone, or stop by once a day to ensure everything is in order if your pet doesn’t need overnight supervision. Reptiles and most cats are just fine with daily visits and feeding.

House sitting provides major advantages to the homeowner. A regular presence in your house deters break-ins and theft. Home safety issues such as water leaks get noticed and dealt with right away, so you don’t come home to big problems. A house sitter can bring in your mail daily, care for your houseplants, and provide home safety and peace of mind.

Why should you hire a contractor?

Hiring a general contractor is a good idea for many remodeling projects. Home renovation contractors have a broad range of skills to manage, coordinate and complete a project. They should help make sure your project comes in on time and within your budget as they hire and supervise all the necessary subcontractors, including electricians and plumbers. They also handle procuring all the materials required for your job. Some homeowners look to save money by acting as their own contractor, but an experienced home renovation contractor is worth the cost. They should know local building codes, be able to pull all necessary permits, and work with inspectors to make sure the construction meets local codes. Also, because they get professional discounts, they can typically buy materials at a better price than you can; better prices on materials and labor save you money, and make up for at least a percentage of the cost of the contractor.

How much do you pay for house cleaning?

Hiring a professional house cleaning service is a helpful way to have a healthy home even when your work and personal schedule is packed. House cleaning prices vary based on how many square feet your home is, how dirty your house gets, and how often the cleaning service comes. Some companies charge a set amount — such as 5 cents — per square foot, with a minimum amount, such as $100. The national average cost for house cleaning ranges between $110 and $150. Prices can be lower in areas with a lower cost of living, higher in big cities or affluent regions. You may save money by increasing the frequency of your house cleaning visits. Often a company will charge you less per cleaning when you schedule more cleanings per month. The cost advantage rewards your loyalty, and also reflects the fact that more frequent cleanings make it easier to maintain a high level of cleanliness in your home. A housecleaning service may charge more for the first visit or for one-time services than for recurring cleanings.

How do you find a good handyman?

Finding a good handyman can change your life. Within days, the endless list of insurmountable tasks that were either out of your skill range or impossible to fit into your busy schedule can be completed. If you know you want help but aren’t sure how to hire the right pro, ask these questions to find the right fit:

          • What is your work experience? If you are putting in a tile backsplash, you want someone experienced with the task, not someone who generally does painting and junk removal.
          • How much do you charge? Handymen often charge hourly rates that vary based on the complexity of the task they’re hired to do, as well as flat rates for standard jobs. Be clear about what they’ll charge before you hire them.
            • On that note, discuss payment details. It’s wise not to pay all the money up front, especially for larger projects. You may be able to pay a deposit for materials and pay the remainder upon project completion.
          • How long will the job take you to complete? If the handyman is as busy as you are and a fence repair is going to take months, you should probably find another qualified handyman for the job.

Read client reviews and follow up with references to make sure you’re choosing the right handyman for your projects. For more, check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack.

          What does a handyman do?

A handyman is a skilled laborer who provides basic home repairs. Anyone can call themselves a handyman, although most who do so are skilled with repairs and home projects. Reading reviews is a good way to determine their fitness for your job. The tasks a handyman can perform include assembling furniture, painting interiors and exteriors, repairing fences, repairing broken doors or replacing trim, hanging lights, hooking up appliances, and much more. Handymen may have flat fees for certain services, or charge an hourly rate. Handyman rates are often lower than those of a contractor, as they don’t have the same specialization. Some states have no limit on the work a handyman can perform, while others do. For example, California’s Building and Professions Code section 7048 (small operations) permits handymen to provide work similar to that of a contractor (floor installation, painting, etc.) provided the total cost of labor and materials does not exceed $500. A handyman is a great resource for minor home repairs at a lower cost than a licensed contractor, but for more complex projects, it pays to hire a specialized contractor.
