I have attended Joy Kakabeeke's Yoga classes in her Mattawan, MI. studio for approximately two years. I found her an excellent, knowledgeable, sensitive teacher. She is always on time and an excellent communicator, most encouraging about the Yoga class. I have recommended her classes to many friends, and acquaintances. What impresses me about Joy's classes is her emphasis on certain areas of the body at each class. Shirley Wise

Good at listening and observing students to help them get the most they can from yoga. Easy to follow poses, flows and breathing techniques. Wonderful class for all levels of students!

About

I am an RYT certified yoga instructor. I can teach many levels in one class. What makes my instruction different is the Pure Movement Therapy cert. It has taught me how to recognize movement that could be potentially damaging from repetitive use. Pure Movement is working from a place of breath and ease and building strength from that place. I'm also focusing on the three major joints: hips, shoulder girdles, and knees. Through this movement, you become of aware of the compensation you are doing instead of using the joint or muscle we were meant to use. It is full of wonderful "aha!" moments. You will be amazed at how quickly you become pain-free and strong while working with ease in your range of motion. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to study under Susi Hately's Functional Synergy. My studio is small, so there are lots of one-on-one, and that's important when you are learning and practicing yoga. I do believe "we are better together".

About

I teach to serve the greater good and enjoy making yoga accessible for everyone. My teaching methods are inspired by empowering, safe alignment and breath work that uncovers a simple delight in the present moment. I received my 200 hour certification in vinyasa yoga from Corepower Yoga in Chicago and a 120 hour certificate in Hatha yoga from Suddha Weixler at the Chicago Yoga Center. In Chicago, I was also lucky enough to practice and study with some of the city’s most prominent teachers, including Allison English, Wade Gotwals, Rich Logan and Gabriel Halpern. I am especially interested in alignment, and continue to study with senior teachers. I’ve had the honor of teaching private sessions for several years. In my private sessions, I have helped my clients: -recover from injuries -learn basic poses and increase their confidence as beginners -increase strength and flexibility to tackle more challenging poses

About

I am a 200-hour registered yoga teacher and received my training through Prairie Yoga Training program at Cascade Yoga Studio in Grand Rapids, MI. I currently teach yoga at various studios in the Grand Rapids area and truly enjoy teaching private lessons for beginner and advanced students. I also have a Thai bodywork certificate and am continuing to advance my knowledge in this area. Thai bodywork is a whole body treatment traditionally given on a floor mat with the client fully clothed. Thai bodywork combines passive stretching and movement of joints with touch techniques along the energy meridians. A Thai bodywork practitioner (such as myself) is sensitive to the condition of each person and delivers a graceful, nurturing and interactive treatment that uses conscious touch, breathing and rhythm. Thai bodywork achieves a therapeutic effect without harsh physical force and is safe and effective for most people. A complete Thai Bodywork experience uses rhythmic touch as well as cross-fiber stroking of the muscles and soft tissues of the body delivered in a variety of postures and positions. The effect is a deep relaxation and awareness of the body’s condition. I have a true passion for what I do and love to share it with others. My clients always feel relief and leave stress free from any one of my private lessons or Thai massages.
