In my experience, I have taken piano lessons for an hour once a week for the past month or so. Walking into Southtown Guitar, both Dean and Jesse are very friendly, and they know you by name. They always make sure to greet you when you come in, and they're always greeting you with a smile. I haven't personally had Dean as a teacher, but I have had Jesse. Jesse's very understanding when it comes to me not being able to practice a lot because of school work and other things that come up, and he's also very patient with me. During the lesson he answers my questions, and tries to help me understand. After the lesson they write down all that I need to do to practice that week so that I don't forget. Jesse's also very understanding when you come back saying that you weren't able to practice something because you didn't remember how to do it, and then he gives you a refresher and tries to come up with ways to help you remember it. Overall, Southtown Guitar has met and exceeded my expectations.
I am an adult student, and Michelle was an awesome piano teacher who shared her wealth of knowledge and made lessons fun and engaging. She was also very flexible in working with any special needs I had related to my lessons. Amidst a very busy schedule, piano lessons were something I looked forward to each week.
I'm incredibly happy with my daughter's piano lessons. It's wonderful to see how much patience, time, and care goes into her lesson. Rachelle is knowledgable and provides many solutions for different learning styles.
Zach offers exactly what we were looking for. He makes lessons both fun and educational, offering a kid friendly approach to teaching music.
Amanda has been my 10 year-old son's piano teacher for over four years. She is knowledgeable, kind, patient, and an overall excellent teacher! He looks forward to his lessons and has improved tremendously. Amanda will build upon his existing genre interests, so that he is always fully engaged. She really is the best piano teacher!
Denielle is a wonderful music teacher, caring for her students' growth and success. She is committed to each student finding the love for music that she has experienced all her life.
She is an awesome piano instructor. My son took lessons from her for over 8years. She did a great job keeping him interested. She also helped him grow as a pianist.
Lisa has taught my son flute since January 2011 with outstanding results. Then, he was a 9 year old boy who had never been introduced to playing or reading music before. He now plays exceptionally well - playing at our church and in a local advanced band. She has coached our whole family through the basics, is in tune with his learning style and professional in every way.
I just recently started lessons with Ms. Susan and have so far been very happy with them. I am an experienced piano player who took a long hiatus and wanted to get back into playing seriously. I wanted someone who is educated in technique, sound, and history. Susan exactly fits that criteria as she listens to exactly what the student needs/wants to achieve and is understanding yet strict in the expectations and standards of her students. My confidence and passion in piano playing since I have started studying with her. I recommend her to students of all ages and lifestyles.
Kamie was a refreshing change from previous "by-the-book" piano teachers. She does not take a rigid approach, allowing my children to explore their interests in music and help them achieve their goals. The kids enjoy their lessons and enjoy Kamie.

I teach beginners piano lessons privately in my home. My teaching schedule offers flexible times during Monday, Tuesday and Friday, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Students will work in three or four different skill books. These skills are theory, technique, piano, and sight-reading will be added after students grow musically to that level. The method of teaching students is through The Bastien Series of piano, piano for the young beginner, The Primer Series and piano for adult beginners. Students ages 16 and can start in the older beginner's series. Learning beginner's piano is a rewarding experience and will enhance self-esteem, confidence and self-control. Students will also be able to show their skills during a future performance.
I provide private lessons specializing in piano and flute. I work with preschool to adults. I will travel to you (for a minimal fee in addition to the lesson fee), or we can meet at a separate location. I have been a pianist and flutist for over 40 years. I also provide accompanying services. I will play piano and/or organ for weddings/funerals. I believe that practice is very important and will have student and parent sign a practice contract. I believe in positive reinforcement.
I can teach you anything on the electric guitar. I can teach electric bass, too, if requested. Piano is also something I teach very well. I know all of the music theory and the instruments as well. I can teach you how to play any song you wish, master a technique, ear training, and so much more! I am glad to teach online via Skype and can get you to the level you want.

I began taking piano lessons as a young child, and graduated with a Bachelor of Music Degree from Marygrove College in Detroit. I've taught in elementary classroom situations, and have taught vocal music in various public schools at the elementary and junior high school levels. Besides this, I taught at Allegro School of Music in Grand Rapids for a period of time, and also gave keyboard/piano lessons in music studios and in my own home. I get along well with children as well as adults, and try to be encouraging and patient when working with students.
I am a full-time music teacher. I have just recently started back with the private lessons. I have played the piano since I was four. I was a voice and piano major in college. I have been teaching music in the public schools for the last 19 years, and I am also an organist for a local church.
My best advice in searching for a piano teacher is to take time and energy to try a few. Every teacher has a different style and personality, and above all, you want one who fits you and your needs. I'm Duane Stephenson, and I might be the right piano teacher for you. I offer your first lesson, a full hour, completely free with no commitment. We'll use that time to explain my style and curricula, teach you a first song, create your first practice plan, and go over any questions. I specialize in customizing your lesson plans and practice plans to suit your goals and desires. I get everyone playing nice songs fast and your favorite songs soon after that. My students call me "patient", "flexible", and "well prepared". Children: I also have a fantastic program for ages three to nine that uses colors and a video game to get children excited and playing music within the first lesson! My full rate is $25/lesson; materials are included. Prepay discounts can bring it down to $20/lesson. Tip: For those on a tight budget or with multiple students in a family, I may suggest both prepaying and having every other week lessons for a total of $40 per person each month. Call, text, or e-mail me for more info or to set up your free first lesson. Duane Stephenson Kentwood, MI
