Introduction: First, my credentials in brief:
I am a 25-year veteran of the U.S. National Laboratories. I have been awarded an international R&D, 100 Award for Research Excellence and Technology Innovation, and have been the featured researcher for U.S. Presidential Inspection of my laboratory.
I hold a Ph.D. from Illinois Institute of Technology in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics. I have an M.S. and B.S. in Engineering Physics, and have worked with a wide variety of technologies, with applications from computational modeling, to health care expert systems, to robotics for geophysical research, to insect pests and atmospheric modeling.
Second, what I can do for you:
I have authored and awarded over 100 successful research and grant proposals during my career. I have authored non-technology-based humanities grants as well, and have developed a successful approach and effective methodology. I am available to direct and collaborate with other organizations in the grant-writing and funding efforts. I have proposed and been awarded twelve Federal Small Business Innovation Research/Technology Transfer (SBIR/STTR) Phase I projects and with three moving to Phase II and Phase III since 2006.
I continue to enjoy a very successful career as a professional research scientist. I serve as Principal Investigator on these projects, and direct all the technical tasks and scientific efforts.
I am well-published in both peer-reviewed professional journals and have authored college and industry text books in my field (computer science, automation, and robotics). I am available for Technical Writing and have a significant history of working with professionals whose first language is not English, and improving the readability of their writings.
I also have authored and been awarded six (6) U.S. patents, and regularly lead and contribute to patent applications. I am available to draft the technical descriptions for patent applications, and contribute to the efficient stating of legal claims as well.
I am mobile, can consult and work with your organization's team on-location, but also work from my home office. I maintain 24/7 communications with my clients and sponsors, and am easily available. I have samples of my proposals to share, and my resume and curriculum vitae are available upon request.
My rates can be flexible based upon the organization I am engaged by, I offer different rates to non-profit groups, if the non-profit allows me to "donate" a portion of my hourly rate. Because of funding level differences, I offer different rates for humanities vs. science topics.
My normal rates for both proposal and technical writing is $6 per hour for short engagements, with a significant reduction for longer-term engagements more than one month and return-clients.
I am successful. In 20 years at the National Laboratories, I was responsible for awards exceeding $16M, 1990's dollars, and since 2006 I have been responsible for SBIR funding over $3.5M. I have three going on four textbooks in place with one being the most popular in its field, the Industrial sensors.
