Introduction: While, yes, the artistic vision of the client is king, I often bring a very unique take, sonically, to any particular project that I work on. I'm always keeping in mind all the ways a particular scene or song could sound, and am always working towards a specific vibe that I feel emotionally invokes the viewer/listener.
It's fun. Plain and simple, I can't think of a line of work that's more subjective to creative input than this industry. It's also one of the only fields I know of that benefits so frequently from happy accidents, particularly in music. If you've ever produced or recorded music, you know that some of the coolest things you've ever made where accomplished by just noodling around with something and suddenly it's perfect, not quite what you expected maybe, but perfect none-the-less. Your client base also presents one of the widest arrays of personalities on Earth, and hence, you get to meet a lot of really great people. Of course it can swing the other way as well, but I've come to view those as chances to improve how I cope with stressful social situations.
