I hired Kathleen to do a small bathroom makeover and a renovation of the dining and living areas of my home. Because of its size; the bathroom was particularly difficult. The finished project not only made the room look larger than it is but also enhanced the appeal of the home with a rich appearance - ask for before and after pictures. The main floor renovation included adding hardwood floors, upgrading the ceiling, adding ceiling beams and removal of outdated wallpaper throughout the space. The new living space resembles an English country home with its dark wood offset by the golden hue of the painted walls. While Kathy and I had some disagreements on what look was best for my home, we would end up with a consensus that was definitely the best decision. I would recommend her for your project.

Working with Kathy has been the best experience I could ask for. She is a true talent and has such an eye for design. She redesigned and reimagined my downtown condo. She has an overwhelming knowledge base in fabrics, materials, designers, and concepts and utilizes that experience. She optimized the space, and really took the time to get to know my style. I am thrilled with the finished product, as my space is a true representation of me. This could have only been done with Kathy's clear guidance and years of experience.

I would highly recommend hiring Kathy as your interior designer. She listens to your ideas for the style and function of the design, but pushes you outside your box to create beautiful, functional rooms that far exceed your expectations. She was professional, had great ideas for my project, and was fun to work with. I would definitely hire her again and would strongly recommend her to anyone looking to make their home even better than they imagined.

I am so disappointed with my experience with Kathleen! I agreed to a paid consult but did not receive any consultation. I explained my dÃ©cor, style, and colors. She was uninterested in looking at my pintrest broad. She did not listen. She was more interested in getting her consultation fee than actually earning my business.

Rebecca-I'm sorry you feel the way you do. I was up front about my fees and you signed off on the agreement. You told me you liked my designs and you called me for the consultation. I walked through two properties very interested in your colors, style and decor. I spent as much time there asking questions, and listening as you allowed. I would never, and I mean never, put fees before business. Never have and never will. I told you I would give you free design time as reinbursement for the consultation fee. I have a passion for interior design, even more passion for being an advocate for my clients and I would never handle a consultation such as you described. I wish you the very best in your project and with the firm that you hired.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Yes, as a matter of fact, as a member of ASID "American Society of Interior Designers", we are required to have .10 ceu's every two years. I'm attending one on April 24, 2014 about, "The Art of Hiding Technology".
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have always had a passion for beauty, order, comfort and visually pleasing surroundings and I want to help people who desire an aesthetically pleasing environments like I do, but don't know how to achieve it on their own. It is my passion in life and it's as necessary to me as air.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I can't say there are any common types of jobs in this profession. As an ASID designer, I act as my clients' advocate; an invaluable service to homeowners, whether you're considering hiring a designer to help with a complicated remodel or a new construction project or maybe just transforming one tired room in your house.
