FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I'm always learning new things. That's the best part about playing the guitar. Once you know how, you can learn any song you want to learn. I've always leaned towards blues and rock, but I've taken up classical, country, and some folk and pop songs just to have a variety to teach. Any classical guitarist can play blues. Any rock guitarist can play country. It's all the same principles and theory, just a different genre. The only thing they would need to do is find the passion to learn the new genre.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I enjoy what I do. I enjoyed learning how, and what, I did. I felt I needed to teach others what I learned and how I learned it because I feel if there was someone like me out there when I was 10, I would probably know 10 times more than I do now.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
Recently, I went to an open mic night. I have played for students, I've played for family, but never an entire group of complete strangers. I was nervous. I jumped right into the first song and my nervousness showed. I threw in a bit of comedy and that made up for my nervousness. I completed my 5 song set with the other 4 songs and it went over better. I recommend you try an open mic like this, once you have learned how to play (of course), to build up your playing character. The response you get will truly measure your ability to play. You will see what you need to perfect and what you have already perfected.
